Ive been enjoying Lone Echo on Occulus VR.  I like it so far.  It's no Alyx, but still cool.

While at my desk, I try to play TitanFall 2, but very hard to get in a single game with out DDOS'd right off.

Star Citizen. Now that Xenothreat is done I get to try mining to see how much money I can make. Maybe some bounties, but... I don't see it holding my attention for much longer, especially if it keeps stealing my stuff.

As far as mods, Prepare Carefully for Rimworld because hitting reroll over and over until I get a pawn I like is just a pain in the ass.

I 100% Legend of Bum-Bo this weekend, which isn't something I've done in a long time.

I think I'm going to put off buying a VR rig till I can try a friends first, but I really do want to try Beat Saber, Half Life: Alyx, and the VR Counter Strike clone whose name escapes me at the moment.

Still working on Satisfactory, but I had some other projects I had to work on this week, and I hit a bit of snag in-game that is causing me to contemplate starting an entirely new world.  I have come up with a design for a much cleaner factory layout, but using it would require me to redo pretty much everything I've done in game to this point.  It may be simpler to just start new and build from scratch than trying to erase everything already put down.

I've also got a really cool idea for re-creating the Citadel from HL2 as a drone and train hub.

Maybe I'll hold off on a new world creation until after the next major update lands.  There will be new toys to play with and I'll be done with my current side project (hopefully).

As for mods, I installed the flying mod and the Smart mod.  Trying to play vanilla is too overwhelming for my OCD and goals, so the next world I just might unlock all the alt recipes right away and play in creative mode just to save time.  I have precious little of it lately.

I finished the game I was working on last weekend, a remake of the Apple II game "Sabotage".  It's not 100% perfect, but its the first game I ever completed that was 'full featured', with sound, music, options, intro screens, pause menu and all the other trimmings.  Not too shabby for ~20 hours over 6 or 7 days.  If anyone wants to give it a try, here is a Link.  Note that it's not meant to be a polished game, I'm not looking to make it better, it was more an exercise on finishing something.  It's probably not filled with ransomware viruses either.  Probably.

I'm planning on doing some Unity tutorials this weekend to see how it compares to Gamemaker 2.  And then I might start my next project, a Star Citizen Simulator.  If I can pry even a small fraction of the cash people are paying for the real thing, it would be hilarious.

As for gaming, I put some time into Black Mesa.  I got as far as Xen, and kind of started to lose interest.  I will try to finish that this weekend too.  I then started a game of Terraria, and that has been my free time for the last few days.

Does anyone play SWTOR?  I was thinking of giving it a look next.  How is the F2P experience?  Can it reasonably be played to endgame with no money down?

Best QOL mods are all the inventory and UI mods for Skyrim and the Fallout games.

I've been playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous all week.  Some small bugs and one major bug that caused me to replay 5 hours worth of the game but I'm enjoying it.

I hate to say it but SWTOR is really bad with their FTP model.  I despise it.  If I can't pay I don't play.

Castle Crashers, maybe? (Link goes to Steam) At least, it's the multiplayer sidescroller fighting stuff, but I don't think there's any real difference in the characters.

At first I was like WTF? Then I realized that's where the Zora Divine Beast is. But the path is only supposed to record 200 hours. I did that a long time ago.

I spent the better part of a real life day farming the dragons only to realize I should have been collecting frogs. Still useful but not what I was aiming for at the time.

I still have to defeat the Final Trial.

On the subject of XCOM games and mods, there's the Long War mods for both the main games, officially blessed by the Firaxis (Or, as close to officially blessed as you can get). It's more game. More classes, weapons, skill, equipment. Larger teams, and a whole hell of a lot more difficult.

I think my favorite quality of life mod (it was also a content add) is still Midas Magic for Elder Scrolls - Oblivion. Made being a mage fun and worthwhile. A lot of neat new spell effects that weren't unbalanced. Scary-fun master level spells that made going through all that worthwhile. (Limited) flight. The ability to summon The Balrog. Stargates. :)

For Fallout 4, best quality of life mod hands down is the one(s) that extends settlement building allowances to whatever your computer can handle without bricking outright.

My favorite frivolous mod is the one that has the "door is ajar" binging whenever your power armor is open, and the "alarm set" chirp when you step out of the armor. Also the one that changes the luck-based low-int xp boost sound from a dumb giggle to Macho Man saying Oooooh YEAH!!! (Although technically, that one's quality of life.)

Awww, I thought about posting that one. Instead I will post this one:

The Sega Dreamcast IS The SHIZ! Beyond Its Time It Lives On!
Youtube bS9PAwrsezc

I got my Dreamcast right after they announced Sega was leaving the console market, which means I scored a ton of new games CHEAP! I got it, 2 controllers, a few VMUs & rumble paks & 30 or so games for around $500. Sadly, I got it while I was still heavily into the PS2 and right before I picked up and Xbox at a decent discount via a Blockbuster gift card deal. After I started playing Halo, the DC barely got touched. When it did, I would find annoyance at the cord, the buttons, the noise of it, etc. Damn, I miss that thing!

Anyhow, I went by a local e-cycling place and keep thinking about the NUCs they had there. They were pretty cheap, so I have been thinking of getting one for emulation/streaming on the TV (not like I don't have enough stuff to do that already). But they also had a bunch of SFF office machines too I could use if they don't have a NUC powerful enough to do PS2/DC/Naomi/PSP and higher. Opinions?

Why? Because not only would it be used for emulation, it would also tempt me every time an XBox exclusive came out. Plus, I am not willing to pay for, so if you need to do that too....I know, I know, "it's worth it!" but I just don't need to add yet another console atm.

It was the 3DO for me. I bought the console used and dozens of games for a small fraction of their original price. Including the notorious Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. I loved that machine. Wing Commander 3 was the best game that I played on it. You already know the worst.

2021-09-10 9:03:53 AM
Been playing lots and lots of Darkest Dungeon. Just restarted the estate now that I really feel like I have a handle on how to play it well.

VERY excited for the KOTOR remake announced yesterday, now I may need to wrangle a PS5, when I thought I would be all set with just XBox this gen.

Most essential mod? Scaling destruction damage for Skyrim. They really goofed up that part of the system. Swords get stronger as you raise your stat, magic should go the same way if I want to do a full mage playthrough.

Why? Because not only would it be used for emulation, it would also tempt me every time an XBox exclusive came out. Plus, I am not willing to pay for, so if you need to do that too....I know, I know, "it's worth it!" but I just don't need to add yet another console atm.

Here's the kicker. Get a Game Pass subscription and you'll get all the exclusives included.

I haven't purchased a single Xbox game since subscribing. Great if you have kids too.

Bought and went through Axiom Verge (original, though I may get 2 after finally getting an Epic Games account...)

Thinking about getting the Guacamelee! series as well...seems like a fun trip through Metroidvania world...

Otherwise, more tinkering around on OpenTTD, as well as preparing for yet another new set to hit MTG Arena, with my preferred post-rotation deck being an Orzhov control deck with Kaya, Prof. Onyx, and Lolth at the top end (though it can win just with animating a few lands)...

Finished The Ascent.  It's really not "diablo" at all, and I don't see replay value.  I got my $30 worth playing with friends, though.

Still working through two-player-only Operation Tango, which is some of the most fun I've had in a game in a while.

Lord Bear:
Does anyone play SWTOR?  I was thinking of giving it a look next.  How is the F2P experience?  Can it reasonably be played to endgame with no money down? .

SWTOR is well worth the sub, IMO. I've never done the free to play method. There is also Preferred status. If you sub for a month or buy something from the store you get Preferred status. It is slightly better than F2P but not as good as a sub. Check out the details in this article. New expansion is coming this year so I will probably go back.

I'm still playing the new Pathfinder. Great game so far, about 40 hours in. Good voice acting and the writing has been very good. Started playing the other night and realized I had been doing nothing but exploring a city talking to people and visiting merchants for three hours, no combat. Was just lost in the lore. Doesn't happen often for me.
