Bisquick and cream, very original.

The mental image I have of people who read Lifehacker is one of someone who drools more or less incessantly, just a steady rivulet of saliva seeping from one or even both corners of the mouth, and who spends a lot of time squinting at words on the screen because in his mind squinting assists in understanding. The mental image I have of people who submit links to the site is slightly less flattering.

Self-rising flour isn't one ingredient. It's like claiming those biscuits in the can that pops are a one-ingredient recipe.

Bisquick and Milk.

//Self-rising flour is pretty salty, I can't see adding more and my cardiologist says I like too much salt.

Pillsbury frozen Grands are: A. Superior to any canned biscuit and B. You can cook as many or as few as you want.

/Not ashamed to admit they are better than any scratch biscuits I've made.
//Raised in northern Illinois. Biscuits aren't a thing there.

They're too sweet. I've used them to make chocolate ganache frosted doughnuts. I did try a biscuit recipe that just called for Greek yogurt and flour. They had a weird sour dough flavor and they were not flaky. Would not recommend.

I have to admit, the canned crescent ones are my go-to for pigs in a blanket.

blondambition: They're too sweet.

but I'll admit this is also true of both the biscuit-form and crescent - esp. when combining them with the sweetness of hotdogs/notdogs. at least the cheese and some decent mustard helps make it work.

also, I'll easily agree that self-rising flour is not "one ingredient" - but let us please not take reductivism too far up the chain of granularity.

I have to concur.  I think the dividing line is if it isn't something stocked by most households, but can be easily made from ingredients most ordinarily stock.

Ketchup is one ingredient.  Cinnamon sugar is two.

Isn't that the whole point of Bisquick?

"Hey did you know you can make biscuits with two ingredients?  Just use the boxed product whose purpose is to allow making biscuits with two ingredients."

Five, if you add bacon, ham and fried chicken.

Just saying, subby, that your count is off.

2 cups bisquick (or another baking mix)
½ cup greek yogurt
½ cup 7-up

put them in a pan you've melted butter into.
VERY good. much better than just the doughy recipe on the box.
