If Biden was going to be the Lincoln of our time he would have done it by now.

Nothing will fundamentally change. It's what we all voted for. It's what we're going to get.

I mean, I really hope he does.

It's just infuriating that a large swath of the country is going FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KILL THE FILIBUSTER AND ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING ALREADY while way too many federal Democrats are all TRADITION AND UNITY the whole time. It's really tiring to watch them continually pretend to not hear us.

It's what they are being paid to do. Those campaign contributions don't make it to ardent defenders of the working class.

Also, I stopped reading when Signorile says that President Biden was so brave for committing to the withdrawal of troops for Afghanistan, citing that he took on Republican enemies to do it...forgetting that he was forced to do so by Donald Trump. Or, at least that was the narrative at some point.

Democrats can't figure out which mythology they want to go with.

Biden can be Biden. With luck, that will be enough to keep swindling charlatans out of the oval office for a New York minute.

You're forgetting Democrats don't have the hive mind mentality of republicans. They occasionally, you know, differ in opinion amongst themselves. For example, I'm of the opinion that Trump and co. set the withdrawal date for after the election because they knew it would be a disaster. So if Trump got re-elected  he wouldn't have had to worry politically, and if Biden won there would have been a nice shiat sandwich waiting for him to make him look bad. Someone else might think it was a miscalculation on Trump's part because Americans won't give two farks about Afghanistan in three months and Biden will end up looking like a hero in the long run. So you see, this hypothetical fellow Democrat and I have different opinions on the matter. Know why? Because we aren't in a moron cult.

He's gonna replace Harris with a Republican from Tennessee as his running mate in 2024, win with a "National Unity" ticket, and then get assassinated?

I dunno, that was a pretty common theory here on fark that trump set this up, although i will admit that trumpy ever willingly admitting to himself that he might lose the election and plan reprisals accordingly is wildly outside his mental capabilities. So it's entirely possible that he just made the deal to look good with voters with all the 'I ended Afghanistan war!" bs and things just unfolded from there.

The solution to the Texas issue seems easy to me.

How did the Feds outlaw drugs? Tax powers.

This touches US currency.

So  use Federal tax powers to effectively outlaw the lawsuits.

Judgements for plaintiffs under those cases should be defined as taxable income, and a tax of 10,000% placed on them.

Any payments received by a plaintiff's law firm or lawyer relating those cases are considered income and also subject to a 10,000% income tax surcharge.

Then, provide a 100% refundable on demand tax credit for defendants in those cases for judgements and legal costs paid.

Any new tax must be passed by Congress, not imposed by the president. So you can bandy absolution about all you want, but it won't happen in this Congress.

Maybe he could be... but he's not gonna be... this is why I pushed for several other candidates during the primaries... Biden was never gonna be the guy to draw a  line in the sand and actually enforce it... he's gonna roll over, Dems will get very little done, find a way to lose the Senate in 2022, then idiots will vote for Republicans in 2024 for the WH, because they'll blame Dems for not being able to clean up the mess Republicans made in the first place. Rinse. Lather. Repeat... same as ever.

Eh, we'd lose. Sure they're only 35% of the people, but they're 90% of the military grunts and 110% of the police forces. The war is lost already. We're just waiting to see if we survive the pogroms.

Hey y'all, subby here. I have been a Farker since about 2006, with occasional lapses in paid membership over the years. I have been a big-time lurker most of that time, only commenting and very rarely submitting a link. This is my *first* greenlight. Thank you all for commenting, even the trolls! I am feeling special today. Happy Labor Day!

I recently watched the movie Lincoln, and I've read David Herbert Donald's excellent biography "Lincoln". In early 1865, Lincoln was faced with a similar legislative sitch wrt the 13th amendment that we face now with voting rights, abortion rights, and infrastructure. Very close whip count in the House. Everybody told him to wait until he was comfortably positioned in his second term and the war was over. He was like fark that shiate, imma do this now. As we all know, that was the right choice for a very sad reason. I love Biden, and I pray no harm comes to him. But the idea is still the valid: Push now. Pass the big infrastructure bill now. Pass the John Lewis and For the People acts now. Counter this re-do of the Fugitive Slave Act, (the Texas abortion ban), now. Expand the Supreme Court now. We dems hold the power. All we gotta do is come together and use it before it's too late.

Side note: Yes, Lincoln was a Republican. That was back when Republicans believed in this country and were willing to fight for the rights of the people. But in 2021 the tables are turned 180 degrees. I wish it weren't so. I wish we had two parties who both wanted the common good. We don't. It's all on the Democrats to make this happen.

First it was "Biden is the new FDR" and now this guy is all "Biden is the new Lincoln". He starts off the article with two lies that have already been pointed out in this thread. What a crock.

Then have them all force vaccinated by crack squads wielding tranq-dart gatling guns full of vax.
