"Fine by me." -- Elon Musk and his compliant wife

2021-09-03 7:47:02 AM
Moving a business is expensive and time consuming, no one is going to do it over a social agenda.  I think it's a net loser as educated people don't want to live in Gilead.

How many Chik-fil-A's can Texas really support?

I supposed when those businesses fail, the GOP will want to audit the Vote With Your Wallet crowd.

I am Tom Joad's Complete Lack of Surprise: "Fine by me." -- Elon Musk and his compliant wife

Elon stays out of politics unless he disagrees with them.  So yeah.  He's OK with this.

If all the Hobby Lobby's pack up and move there...well, it's worth considering...

An abortion ban is a "social position"? Fark you, Texas.

Remember when businesses voted with their feet after the trans bathroom bills?

Boebert might open a franchise there to sell tainted pork but I'm going to wager that businesses with a national presence might be wondering how they can distance themselves from this fiasco.

Did liberals in Washington force you to hire women? Move to Texas where they'll be to busy having babies and raising kids to come to work. You can replace them with men as God intended.

This.  And more this.  They need the workers.  And they won't get the workers if they can't provide the benefits in certain areas.

At this point, this timeline feels like a poorly written and poorly acted movie to me, but I've just got to see how it ends.

If anything this is going to be a statewide brain drain, also, any women who aren't already self-subjugating are going to be fleeing en-masse the longer this remains active.

Texas is going to look more like Afghanistan as the religious zealots of the region continue their decent toward "incel" culture.

If cooler heads can't take the state, they will leave, it's that simple. Decent people don't live in totalitarian regimes

But companies with offices in Texas are going to slowly let those offices reduce staff and shift business functions elsewhere if thats what the employees want (and they do based on the chatter I see)

Especially since the pandemic greatly accelerated the ability of valuable employees to work from home for many functions...

None of us will be shocked in a couple of years at articles about empty office space (even larger percentages than the empty offices coming because of work from home) and stories of certain sectors abandoning Texas.

Yeah, that anti abortion woman in NY that makes hand crocheted tea cozies in her spare time is going to come down to TX and open a factory.

2021-09-03 9:49:31 AM
Sometimes it looks like the FL and TX GOP are going out of their way to specifically market their state as a place for Conservatives to live and to explicitly discourage anyone vaguely left leaning from moving there, almost as though they recognize the risk to their ability to win the WH if too many left-leaning people move to the state.

So they do these raging douche bag things, in part, as an effort to maintain continued control over 70 electoral college seats and 4 senate seats that would otherwise be at risk due to the movement of people in the US.

I'm thinking that a reliable electrical grid would do a lot more to bring in businesses than xtrian sharia law will.

But what do i know? Im not a braindead simpleton who got his wealth from the lawsuit lottery.

What are they going to do though?  Move an entire space port?  You can't just build those things anywhere, there's a reason why it's so far south...

...although I think eventually that whole operation is going to move back to Cape Canaveral once they get the Starship program up and running.

I think he should put out a list of businesses that have said they support this stance and are going to relocate based on the social stances Texas is taking. Yes, I'm serious. Open your mouth, and start naming names. This will serve two purposes: we can confirm it with them, and if that business actually supports it, then we can vote with our dollars and stop supporting them 100%.

Please! Send all the un vaccinated and anti mask businesses to Texas (sorry Austin) that are such good Christians already who send death threats to school boards, lose their minds at people wearing masks, so respectfully follow love thy neighbor, and are just such kind loving people, that'll be welcomed with open arms by governor serial killer abbott

"You need to understand that there's a lot of businesses and a lot of Americans who like the social positions that the state of Texas is taking."

Until their CEO is dragged into a kangaroo court when a disgruntled employee tells authorities that he paid for his mistress' abortion.

I hope that a majority of businesses either leave there or refuse to move there.
Sort of like what happened when MLB walked away from GA.

I don't know that that will happen, because there are a lot of stupid, heartless, cruel bastards in this world that are totally fine with punishing women.

Funny thing about Companies.  They bring employees and their politics, both sides.     Is he going to be reaching out to Hobby Lobby and trying to milk that market?

What did I miss? Elon put his foot in his mouth in any specific way this time? As far as I'm aware, all the bullsh*t comments are from Abbott.

Running kinda low on outrage lately so I need to ration it carefully.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that at least 75% of the population in Texas owes their existence to incestual rape.

Why would a business care about an abortion ban really?
I can understand them caring about stuff that affect money, like if there was government run healthcare, extra holidays, differing taxes etc, but abortion?
If anything I'd think the abortion ban would be slightly frowned upon since it would mean more people having to go on maternity leave....

oh wait the usa doesn't have mat leave right?
I guess people would still have sick days?

the usa depresses me.

Time to contribute to TX and FL races. It's amazing what $5 can do if you get enough people together. Abbott barely won last time. Now, there will be a huge motivation from a lot of women to vote.

The GOP said they would, and they did. Time to get busy.
