I'm not sure what he was supposed to do beyond tell his bosses if the lady chose not make a formal accusation.

I would expect it to not be on him to personally investigate the matter.

Also TIL these big time on the air news people have their own agents. In hindsight of finding this out it seems silly I didn't think they would. But that's just me forgetting for a moment that national television news is entertainment masquerading as journalism.

So Robin says if it happened to someone on her team she'd burn the place down (figuratively I'm guessing) and George gets upset thinking it's about him?

My grandmother had a phrase for this; the hit dog howls.

But they both sucked as Jeopardy! hosts so who cares

Same.  I'm not why anyone is angry with Stephanopoulos.  He reported the allegations to his boss but he wasn't a witness so I'm not sure what else he was supposed to do..

I question the sanity of anyone who watches/pays the least attention to these morning shows. The few I've seen are cringe-inducing suckfests full of manufactured mirth and product-shilling. People actually watch Ryan Seacrest and DON'T want to light their eyes and ears on fire?

That was a good show, not great, but worth the watch.  Doesn't need a second season and the end was stupid, but the thing it did really well was Carrells character.  He's not a good guy, but he isn't a monster either.  It got the nuance with him right.

The power to make or break people's careers and smother people who speak out about abuses, reinforced by a century of "you'll never work in this town again" passed down through generations?  Combine that with the fact that you have to be a bit of an asshole to climb the top of the mountain, and you've got all the ingredients for a toxic culture.

Eh, he's allowed to criticize. It obviously could have gone better. What's out of bounds is anyone suggesting Trump (or Bernie for that matter) would have done anything differently or better

That's what I meant about being an asshole.  The further you climb the ladder in most industries, the more of a sociopath you have to be to succeed.

That's a clear assessment.

My favorite film-executive threat is from State and Main: something like, "if you don't do this, I'll make sure you, your children, and your grandchildren die in poverty!"

Gotcha.  Britain made a mistake in a country, so our President shouldn't ever have to face a question about our activity in the same country.  Perfectly reasonable.

The only good thing to come out of the Afghanistan pullout is that people who would have been saying "Oh, who cares about Afghanistan?" had it been the previous regime doing literally the same exact thing (which was the plan) now suddenly care deeply about the plight of the Afghany people. Whatever works I guess
