Sadly, these marches are only going to remind some legislators exactly why they are drafting bills to limit voter registration. Those people scare them. And their base.

I wish I had heard of these marches earlier and under different circumstances. I would have been proud to march with them.

I'm sure all republicans who are racists will continue to promote their racism by passing their white supremacist laws.  That way they can get back to raping children.

Perhaps one of them can lie about how they are not kkk filth.

This.  Put your energy into getting candidates that support your cause into office.  It is what the Right has been doing for decades.  Some elected positions that few ever care about can carry some significant weight when the right time comes along

ITT: white people telling Black people how the should protest, yet again

2021-08-28 12:24:12 PM
Back when the 2020 protests were in full swing, the milquetoast slogan I kept hearing was something like "Why do they have to go out and protest anyway? Why don't they just vote for the changes they want?"

I asked a few of them "So, what are folks supposed to do when they aren't allowed to vote?". Never got a reply beyond a generic "Oh it's not like that." or my old favorite admission of absolute ignorance "Well you're young so you just don't know how it is."

Never pushed it beyond "That doesn't answer the question.", but the base has been well trained to believe that those peoples' problems could never possible become their problem as well.

People can protest however they like, I just noted that some people suck, and that some lawmakers suck even worse because their brand is relying on people who suck.

You may remember that one of the first things I said right after this election mess, and rumbles of changing voter registration was to use that as a voter drive. Watching politicians distance themselves from these marches makes for great campaign ads to get folks out for next year.

Fark you media. They're not "foot soldiers", they're citizens of our country made up of many different faces and skin colors. Human beings, not pawns to be expended on some "battlefield" of getting equal rights for humans in this country.

/Sorry if that was "woke"

BLM peaceful protest with permit = national guard, assault rifles, tear gas artillery, and gas masks.  Local police with shotguns, teargas, and rubber bullets plus pistols.  Riot or SWAT on premises.
MAGA Q-anon types get the military ordered to stand down, disarm, and reduce the police presence, no tear gas or riot squad.
Hmmm, if only Intel and the FBI knew who was more likely to murder cops and violently overthrow the government.

And you sound awful judgey, but that seems to be a regular thing. Noticing that people suck isn't defensive. It's paying attention. Trying to draw conclusions from people noting the obvious and turning a conversation AWAY from the people who suck isn't helpful. Again, seems to be a regular thing as of late though.

My point was that you didn't need to respond, but you did anyway. Hit dog hollers and all that.

My secondary point is that white people really ought to stay in their lanes. Telling Black people how they should and shouldn't act is never a good look.

Nobody is doing that. I'm noting that you rolled in and made that up wholecloth. It's not being hit, it's noticing that you like to point fingers when no one has done a damn thing remotely like what you want to stand above.

I heard it said that folk ways are like water dripping on a rock.

The South has changed a lot -- but the rock remains. That is, the basic racism that underlies the society.
