His daughter can't breathe in a mask? Does she have lung damage? Dangerously low blood oxygen levels? No? Then bullshiat. She's just a soiled little brat. And her dad's a piece of shiat.

The article states the student grabbed the guys phone.  If he lawyers up, he'd easily get the charges dropped.  However, it's Florida Man, so he'll probably say something stupid to the judge.

Assuming the victim is 15 like the attacker's daughter a case could be made that she feared he was a perv. Which he kind of is.

It should be illegal to intentionally and exclusively film a private citizen, even in public.

The current law is you have no expectations of privacy when in a public place.  It would probably take a Constitutional Amendment to change that, and I don't think it would be a good idea.  The people in power would turn that around and use it against us.

As for thinking he was a perv.  If she approached him, that would be a tough sell.

I'm not trying to defend him.  I'm simply pointing out out it could be perceived in court.  But it probably won't matter since, as I said previously, it's Florida Man and he'll screw himself when he speaks.

There is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place and people should expect to be passively photographed or videotaped when they leave the house. What the law does not currently recognize - but should - is that there is a world of difference between passively videotaping someone when they are casually present for an event you're focusing on; and actively focusing your camera on a non consenting member of the public. This is particularly true when the target is a minor.

And spare me the straw man crap; If you're going to allege a moustache-twirling badjun wants to hijack the law to use against you please name them and tell me how and why they wish to do that.

It would be impossible to properly define the law to make a clear distinction between passive and focused.  And if tried, it's the kind of vague law that is ripe for abuse.

So you're cool with older men making videos of 15 year old girls at their high school? My nieces are cautioned to make a scene when they see someone in public being a creep, and it sounds like that's exactly what this girl did. She got assaulted by a much larger man over it. He's an adult. If I attacked every minor that ever tried to take something from my hands, I'd be in prison for life, as I should be, because I'd be a giant piece of shiat.

Doctors and nurses spend hours upon hours at a time with masks on. They don't whine about it. Some of them might spend 14 hours or more in a mask performing delicate surgery. Again, no whining.

I can maaaybe understand a school-aged kid feeling anxious about wearing a mask from first to last bell, but I have a solution: go to the bathroom, take a leak or poop, and take the mask off for two or three minutes.

I've been wearing a mask for damn near a decade because of cancer and bone marrow transplant. If these mongs encountered an iota of actual difficulty in their lives they'd crumble into a pile of whiny privilege.

I'm suuure that our totally - with - it lawmakers will craft a wonderful piece of legislation that prohibits a person from "focusing" on another person.

Did you foresee that every new doorbell would have a camera ten or fifteen years ago? Can you imagine how broken that law would be in 10 years when we have gigapixel-effective cameras that can "focus" on anything from a hundred feet away?

Of course not. The only things that prevent this kind of behavior are societal norms, and the MAGA brigade have ruined that for all of us.
