Not as good as last week, but still fun. Definitely kept me guessing right up until the end. The Hulk scene was unexpected, to say the least.

Disney would have to find a new franchise to f*ck to death.

Really enjoying this series, hoping they make this one semi-ongoing. Some of the things that happen to make the episodes work are ridiculous, of course, but that's the point of What If?.

This episode reminded me more of the comic books, where every one died every issue.

I'm looking forward to the Marvel Zombies episode. Those books were a lot of fun and I never thought we'd see an actual adaptation of it.

This is one of those rare times where I DNRTFA.

I haven't seen episode 3 yet. Will do so after dinner.

It's been a while since I was fired up about watching a TV series (almost never, actually).

They should adapt Sergio Aragonés Murders Marvel.

I liked this story better when it was called Watchmen.

I've liked all three episodes so far, but this one the best. I thought this was the tightest story of the three, and the best use of animation.

Really liked the scene at the end, in the graveyard. You can realize what is up very quickly just from the questions Fury was asking and way he was saying it - well before it becomes obvious/overt. Love that attention to detail.

Eternals.

That's what happens when you don't have Avengers.

In that universe, after casting Joaquin Phoenix as Tony Stark and Dean Cain as Captain America, Marvel didn't have the same success and they went this way, killing off the Avengers to introduce the Eternals.

"What If?" is not your personal erotica show!

Lake Bell as Black Widow is weird after getting used to her voice in Harley Quinn. She's a great voice actor, so she did a really good job as Natasha, but every so often a little bit of Poison Ivy would slip in.

Also, after watching this I went back and read Fury's Big Week on Marvel Unlimited (where they explicitly went through the timeline of Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk all happening in the same week. In the comic, Natasha wound up undercover at Culver State during the events of The Incredible Hulk right after her involvement in Iron Man 2, so this What If? episode echoes that a little bit.

I was wondering what was going on up until the big reveal. Which, given the character's history in the comics, shouldn't have been all that surprising.

I guess we now know why things didn't work out between Phil and the cellist.

It's a show about infinite universes, so the odds you'd be aware of a specific one are, well, infinitely small.

I'm a little confused. Captain America was still frozen until late in the episode, so who was the "Steve" in Coulson's password?

Those were vintage baseball cards, remember?

Well then you just get your eight year old niece to re-assemble them, but the odds of Captain Americas torso being attached to a mermaid tail or Tony Stark becoming a stormtrooper wearing medieval armor is pretty high.

Coulson was a huge Captain America fan before Steve was found and unfrozen, remember he had collect the entire card set and was there when they thawed him out.

I had a rather meh reaction to this week's episode. Honestly, the Loki ruling conclusion was boring after watching the actual Loki series with character development.

Would rather have seen more exposition and backstory on Hank Pym presumably not leaving SHIELD and subsequently going crazy when Hope gets killed.

That is, well, THE POINT. This is Loki without the growth and checks on his ambition or gaining power.

Rich white main goes crazy after a family member dies...just watch Batman.

It was fun to see all these characters from the early phases again, especially Coulson (as I've been doing a re-watch of AoS). Was also pretty impressive that they got so many of the original actors back to voice the roles, even in small doses. A bit of whiplash seeing Loki back in the Thor1/Avengers1 mindset, but it felt natural based on the timeline. The story itself needed a bit more time to flesh it out; these episodes should really be closer to an hour.

I'm looking at these stories being independent of each other; for example Captain Carter not being in the ice at the end of the most recent episode, and will do so until proven otherwise.

They are independent from each other...for now, at least.

The trailers look like we might see some universe hopping by the end of it though.

The Son of Coul was a Captain America fan from childhood, not from when Steve got defrosted.

I would genuinely love a ridiculous episode around the wacky product adverts heroes and villains were featured in.  What If...Stark Industries created it's own marketing subsidiary.

What if Dr Doom and the Hulk spoke in a mock-Edwardian vernacular and teamed up to hawk sweatshirts?

Eventually, I'm going to run a superhero RPG session where writers/artists/editors are kidnapped from a Comic Convention by a crazy villain. The heroes track down the bad guy, who's putting his victims on 'trial' for the crime of denying Hostess snack cakes to the villains in the ads, thus forcing them into a life of crime to steal said snack cakes.

But, we already got all the exposition we needed for the episode from the first Ant-Man film.

-Jan 'dies' on a mission
-Hank quits SHIELD over Jan and because SHIELD was trying to copy the Pym Particles behind his back

It's glad you bring up the voice acting. I find myself sort of dismayed and disappointed that the mid-level character's actors all showed up, but most of the stars couldn't be bothered to spend a few hours at home doing voice work.

I know a few contracts are over, and I did read that at least one actor (Dave Bautista) wasn't even asked to come back, but it still feels like it reflects poorly on the live-action actors.
