How about not dying from Covid-19?  That's not enough incentive?

Thank goodness I'm already vaxxed.

KK sucks.

LaMar's ftw!

That's nice of them and all, but does anyone think there was anyone out there avoiding the vaccine because they were simply negotiating for one more Krispy Kreme doughnut?

Yes. Here's some free doughnuts as a reward for staying healthy.

Two donuts may be enough to convince me to get a flu shot but I'm to need at least a half dozen before I even consider a covid shot.

There is no Krispy Kreme within a reasonable distance of my home.  The supermarket carries their glazed donuts, but I don't like glazed donuts.  I've been wanting to try some of their fancier makings.

I the vaccination because other people are assholes.

If Krispy Kreme were offering free blueberry cake doughnuts, I'd be there running.

Donut shops get a lot of fat asses through them, so I'm going to say yes.

And if anybody needs the vaccine, it's the fatties.

When we visit my folks in Wyoming every other year, we stop at LaMars on the way from Denver. God, do I love their donuts. Possibly the best cake donuts I've ever had. We usually grab 2 dozen mixed for the family, and some apple fritters for Dad. I do miss the orange frosted cake donuts. I haven't seen those in years.

Krispy Kreme is good for the raised glaze donuts, and the raspberry or lemon filled, but their cake donuts are lacking. The closest one to me is about a 45 minute drive away, so not going to get the free donuts.

Second place for me to get cake donuts is Duck Donuts, but they are a bit pricy and about 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic.

/Yes I sound fat
//Freaking Dunkin' Donuts just opened two blocks from my house and a Chick Fil A is going up next to it.
///Luckily, Dunkin's donuts aren't that good (not since they stopped frying them in store), and I don't drink coffee

I mean I like KK a lot better than DD. I won't say no to KK but I will refuse to eat DD. DD isn't even a donut, just some kind of toroidal pastry, like a bagel but sweeter. At least KK gets the texture kind of correct even if it is too spongy and their glaze is ok.

Godscrack: Yes. Here's some free doughnuts as a reward for staying healthy.

In my town, there's a Krispy Kreme directly across the parking lot from a gym.

I have to believe that this is intentional, and brilliant marketing for both of them.

People walking out of the gym see the KK and be like "I just burned off calories! I can have donuts!"

People walking out of the KK see the gym and go "I could stand to lose a few hundred pounds."

It's the circle of life.

Well, the one near me closed over a year ago.

Now, if only the two much better donut shops that are closer to my home would do this...

Sure, but now Krispy Kreme has backed themselves into a wall.  Those folks are going to hold out for a baker's dozen.

The glaze is gross and messy.  If I could get them minus the snot and add chocolate frosting, I'd stop by every time I drive past.

The closest location to me is a 25-30 minute drive, so I'm not going there either. That said, I have tried their fancier offerings and you're better off skipping them unless you enjoy sickeningly sweet stuff. It's just their regular donuts that they've found a way to add extra sugar to. I bought a Boston cream donut there once and when I took a bite discovered that instead of custard filling, it was filled with frosting. Disappointing.

NSCSB (not so cool story bro):

Allrighty then, so Mrs. Harlee and I thought that this is a cool thing, and we have not eaten at KK for at least five years, so it would be a cool idea to reward these guys and make an early morning breakfast of it. Take OCTA Access to the Krispy Kreme location at The City Outlets. Four hot greasy free donuts, plus another four (so four each), plus some ice cold milk (which they sell) plus lattes and hot coffees. I check the website,

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Krispy+Kreme/img.fark.net33img.fark.net7837131,-118.4508133,9z/data=!3m1!5s0x80dcd827c4ca2323:0x6f583526f3eeebe7!4m9!1m2!2m1!1sKrispy+Kremes!3m5!1s0x0:0xd795b24bc81b59b8!8m2!3d33.7836561!4d-117.8905585!15sCg1LcmlzcHkgS3JlbWVzIgOIAQFaDyINa3Jpc3B5IGtyZW1lc5IBCmRvbnV0X3Nob3CaASNDaFpEU1VoTk1HOW5TMFZKUTBGblNVTjViV0Z5ZVU5QkVBRQ

and check out their "Health and Safety" page at:
https://www.google.com/local/place/g/1tctrzmz/attributegroup/health_and_safety,service_options?gl=US&hl=en-US&gsas=1

which says:

Measures taken here:
Mask required
Staff required to disinfect surfaces between visits
Safety dividers at checkout

So far, so good.

So I call that location, to make sure they still have the milk, lattes, etc, and confirm mask policy, and find out if all employees wear masks (rather than depositing aerosols on our food) and find out that NO, they do NOT require masks, and that employees may or may not wear masks depending on vax status.

So we got a problem, with a discrepancy between website and actual policy.

So I call Corporate in NC, at (336) 725-2981, which is when it gets weird.

My repeated calls to the Store Customer Service extension (options 9, 9) end up with dead lines, so I try options 9, 1 and end up with Online Order Customer Service.

The Customer Service guy is quite snippy and impatient, particularly when I mentioned the discrepancy on masking. When I start talking about masks he goes all Trumpy/QAnon on me, yelling about the "manufactured crisis" of the pandemic. It's a hoax, for political purposes.

Remember, this is their Online Order Customer Service person, one of the official "phone faces" of Krispy Kreme.

Makes me wonder about whether their right hand knows what their left hand is doing.

Long story short, whelp, I guess that Krispy Kreme joins our list of No-Go eat-out locations.

Sad.

But Farkers might like to call this wing nut and have some fun with him....

ugh at that point almost seems worth calling some local "watchdog" news station, and maybe also try kicking it higher up corporate. altho' either/both of those could well easily end up the same Q bullshiate, who knows.

it does seem pretty weird that a company doing supposed pro-vaccine promos (I mean, likely really only for PR value and add-on sales, but still) would have such a moran of a jackwagon doing customer-facing work.

Ah. MAYbe the company is controlled by antivaxxers and this is their not-so-subtle but entirely stupid plot to have "vaxslaves" (yes, I heard that word today from somewhere else) kill themselves with heart disease and diabetes.

Problem: But they will kill themselves off a lot faster than we will, so we get the last laugh.
