Women are also less likely to become animal abusers, too.  Is anyone complaining about the gender gap there?

Not being elected to some of the most vilified positions in the country - famous for making headlines with tales of corruption, sex scandals, bribery and ignorance - seems like someone you'd brag about rather than complain about.

Maybe most women are just generally too moral and ethical for the job?  Maybe that pipeline of cocaine and underage prostitutes is something that just appeals to old, bald & fat white guys more than any other demographic?

When the average American thinks governor and/or congress, they think "scumbag supreme."  Maybe women would rather pick jobs that actually help society - like medical careers - than become overpaid parasites that lie on TV for a living?

Just a thought.

There haven't been many female governors because not many women have run for governor, and the ones who have run have not been elected.

I mean, it may be partially due to sexism, but it is also due to the fact that you can't just order up a female candidate acceptable to everyone and park her in the governor's mansion.

I know it's politically incorrect and unwoke to say that there are some jobs women just don't want to do (because we all know that since women CAN do them just as well as men therefore they MUST do them, nay, they have NO CHOICE but to do them), and perhaps politics, or at least higher politics is one of them.

When I was getting my Criminal Justice degree, there was an interesting statistic that appeared when I was doing research on women in policing; in one urban department, their female recruitment in the 80s was at an abysmal 11%, so they embarked on a focused effort to get more female recruits into the academy. A decade later, after outreach of all kinds in schools and recruiting centers and employment fairs, the recruitment of women had soared to--13%. This wasn't women who became cops, btw; it was women who applied for the job. In this city (I believe it was Los Angeles although I don't recall specifics now) women just didn't want to be cops.

You can only provide the opportunity for female governors. You can't demand that states' parties drag a woman into office if nobody wants the job.

mtrac: Female governor? Like Palin and Noem? And Ivey and Reynolds? No thanks.

So if I name 5 bad male governors, you won't vote for men again?

I worked as a groundskeeper at the Texas Governor's Mansion from 1985 to 1996.
4 Governors.
Mark White
Bill Clements
Ann Richards
Shrub

There was a target in the carriage house where the DPS security was stationed, they let Gov. Richards stitch it with a f*cking .45 Thompson sub machine gun. She nailed it, and signed it, "Don't mess with me".
Badass.
Her hair was ALWAYS impeccable.

Funniest thing I ever saw on the grounds, when Gov. Clements was residing at the Mansion , he had Claytie Williams as a guest.
I walked around the front yard to get ready to mow, and that pint sized sonofabiatch was standing on a milk crate, trying to get a good shot of the Capital building behind him.
It was all I could do to keep from laughing.
Satisfyingly enough, it was the only night he spent there.

This can't be right, as I was told that Texas is populated by a monolith of misogynist Trumpers.
