Stewart is the MAN.

2004-10-15 06:24:06 PM
Indeed he is the man.

2004-10-15 06:24:27 PM
And we still need to find a torrent...

2004-10-15 06:24:33 PM

2004-10-15 06:24:34 PM
this is like trying to read a play. sorry i missed the live show.

2004-10-15 06:24:44 PM
Stewart is just, awesome. I'm sorry if you disagree, but for me he's one of the only things that can make news bearable. And surprisingly, the show actually does a good job on some occasion.

But yeah. He's teh awesome.

Well that's what happens when I real leftist actually gets let on TV, all they usually let on are center-left weakling losers.

I skimmed thru the article and I still have no idea what it's all about.

Summary, please, for all of us attention impaired.

2004-10-15 06:24:57 PM
jon stewart rules.

2004-10-15 06:25:59 PM
STEWART: You know, the interesting thing I have is, you have a responsibility to the public discourse, and you fail miserably.

CARLSON: You need to get a job at a journalism school, I think.

STEWART: You need to go to one.

I skimmed thru the article and I still have no idea what it's all about.

Better than me, I just skimmed through the comments and have no idea what it's all about.

Funny how Novak wasn't on this show...

2004-10-15 06:27:14 PM
DougTanner,

Precisely true. This is the 'framing of a debate' where people who call b.s. on the entire production are not asked on, and very rarely asked back.

2004-10-15 06:27:17 PM
he was going after CNN for not doing their job - whatever it may have been at one point (a responsibility to the public discourse, perhaps?) but isn't anymore.

2004-10-15 06:27:20 PM
Flawless Victory.

2004-10-15 06:27:28 PM
I saw someone holding a "Jon Stewart for Pres" sign in the background of "Hardball with Chris Matthews." I was so angry when I couldn't find my camera. Otherwise I would have sent it to the Daily Show.

/pity me, pity me

2004-10-15 06:28:17 PM
CARLSON: I do think you're more fun on your show. Just my opinion.

(CROSSTALK)

CARLSON: OK, up next, Jon Stewart goes one on one with his fans...

(CROSSTALK)

STEWART: You know what's interesting, though? You're as big a dick on your show as you are on any show.

2004-10-15 06:28:54 PM
STEWART: I'm not going to be your monkey.

CARLSON: You need to get a job at a journalism school, I think.

STEWART: You need to go to one.

WOW Stewart IS, INDEED, the MAN, ....

what a TOOL.

2004-10-15 06:29:02 PM

2004-10-15 06:29:12 PM
That first "INAUDIBLE" must have been "MOON SHADOW"...

2004-10-15 06:29:58 PM
You have to realize, most of the talking heads you see on TV are people who lack the real scruples necessary to argue a position.

2004-10-15 06:30:01 PM
yeah, if any of you hardcore fans read this please explain to me -how- Stweart pwn3d them. Sorry, I have classes to read for. Plus, I read about one third of it and didnt get much.

Remember meee

2004-10-15 06:30:06 PM
I seriously think Jon Stewart needs to run for office.

I'm Canadian, though, so forgive the ignorance - would his being Jewish be troublesome if he got into politics?

Either way, Stewart's my favourite person on TV. Besides maybe Tina Fey.

2004-10-15 06:30:25 PM
that was AMAZING. Anyone know how to find it?

2004-10-15 06:30:33 PM
So goddamn sweet.

2004-10-15 06:30:43 PM

2004-10-15 06:30:46 PM

Fake news WINS!

2004-10-15 06:32:29 PM
lucidity, in a run for president, it might be a problem, but not in other races. He is Reform Jew (I went to school with his younger brother) so he is not the type to not work friday night and saturday and so on, like Lieberman.

2004-10-15 06:32:40 PM
Indeed, Jon Stewart for Prez!

2004-10-15 06:32:51 PM
CARLSON: All right.

Well, there are legitimate, even powerful arguments, to be made against the Bush administration's foreign policy. But those arguments are complicated, hard to explain, and, in the end, not all that sensational.

It's a lot easier just to make things up.

---
Ha, what a tard. The argument against unilateral aggression is profoundly simple, yet not a single 'liberal' pundit has made it.

Why do you think that might be?

2004-10-15 06:33:11 PM
John Stewart is ... who the fark's John Stewart?

he has a news satire show on the comedy channel.

2004-10-15 06:33:28 PM
Please... someone post a link to a video clip... I need to see the reaction shots when JS exposes their doucheitude.

2004-10-15 06:34:21 PM
"yeah, if any of you hardcore fans read this please explain to me -how- Stweart pwn3d them. Sorry, I have classes to read for. Plus, I read about one third of it and didnt get much."

So you see, who you need to vote for is.......

Just get educated already.

2004-10-15 06:34:34 PM
GangstaFeelsGood

Ahh, thanks! Either way, Stewart rocks it. I love that guy.

2004-10-15 06:34:42 PM
LOL... they list Regis and Kelly as UNIDENTIFIED MALE and UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE. Hilarious.

2004-10-15 06:34:49 PM
Also, having been at a taping of Crossfire, I would've loved to be there during this. It's a good program when you watch it in person. Seems like it's a whole different Stewart, he's damn near scolding them. I would have pretty much payed to see it.

2004-10-15 06:34:50 PM
I actually saw the end of this live. It was pretty awkward.

2004-10-15 06:34:59 PM
I just do a comedy show, so you can't hold me responsible, but now I want to express my negative opinion of you, but remember that you can't hold me responsible for it since I only do a comedy show

WTF? Something about 'cake and eat it too' comes to mind.

2004-10-15 06:35:48 PM
Jon Stewart, the people's champion.

2004-10-15 06:36:18 PM
Stewart rules. That some of you don't get what he was on about is horrendously disturbing.

Political talk shows have been reduced to cartoony shouting matches. Stewart called them on this and they have no answer.

2004-10-15 06:36:27 PM
Mr.T FOR PREZZ!!!

2004-10-15 06:36:31 PM
Pizz'owned.

2004-10-15 06:36:57 PM
Quick summary for those who missed a HILLARIOUS dose of live television:

Tucker Carlson: You had John Kerry on your show and asked him softball questions like 'have you ever flip flopped'.

Jon Stewart: It's not my responsibility to ask any questions. You don't get it do you, my show is a freaking satire of the news media.

Tucker Carlson: I don't get it.

Jon Stewart: You are a tool. This show is awful, pointless, and the news in general does a disservice by being stupid, arrogant, and egotistical. Everything is staged, nothing is real.

Tucker Carlson: Whoa. You're funny on your show, can you be funny on ours? Please? Please?

Jon Stewart: No.

2004-10-15 06:36:58 PM
Voting Stewart in is the only way we could have a president funnier than the one we have now.

2004-10-15 06:37:18 PM
that was farking brilliant, one of the best transcripts to ever grace the CNN website.

2004-10-15 06:37:26 PM
maybe it watches better than it reads? I'm a little let down here...

2004-10-15 06:37:26 PM
STEWART: See, the thing is, we need your help. Right now, you're helping the politicians and the corporations. And we're left out there to mow our lawns.

BEGALA: By beating up on them? You just said we're too rough on them when they make mistakes.

STEWART: No, no, no, you're not too rough on them. You're part of their strategies. You are partisan, what do you call it, hacks.
