Mushrooms on pizza are controversial?  SINCE WHEN???  They're like the second most popular topping after pepperoni!

My issue with mushrooms on pizza is that it's almost always those slimy little farkers that add little or nothing to the flavor. Apparently there are over 600 types of edible mushrooms, let's get a bit more creative!

Or not. Whatever. I also like a white sauce with a touch of pesto and some grilled chicken.

I worked at a Domino's in HS and at one point someone came in with a bag of weed and a bag of magic mushrooms and asked us to cook them onto a pizza.  I didn't take the order or make the pie, so I don't know why but they INSISTED we put them on top of the cheese.  Fun fact about pizza ovens: they run hot as shiat.  If you have a lighter topping like, say, herbs you need to put them under cheese or coat them in oil so they don't burn.  Yeah... half the staff stood under the exhaust hood and breathed deeply as the pizza went through the oven hoping to catch a contact high from the pot burning off.  We didn't get anything from the marijuana pizza, but we're pretty sure neither did the customers.  My coworker did manage to sneak some of the pot so we could smoke out on break.

Ranch dressing.  More of a condiment, but people either LOVE ranch on a pizza or HATE ranch on a pizza with very little in between.

Well, I guess that's better then putting them on top of the pineapple, where you'd see it.

Does the pineapple cover up the taste, too?

When I was in college there was a local place that had cashews as a topping. They were cooked right on the pizza, so they ended up soft, a bit brown, and really wonderful. We'd order grilled chicken, artichoke, and cashew with the white sauce. Very nice!

Klivian: Anchovy, much like olives they can add a nice salty element to a dish, but they are widely stigmatized

I love every kind of olive but I don't like them on my pizza, same with red onions. They're too overpowering. They leach into the whole pizza and are all you can taste so it kills the rest of the taste of the pizza. At least that's my opinion. Anchovies are fine but I rarely get pizza just for myself so we never get them.

I didn't know mushrooms on a pizza was controversial. Love a good cheese and mushroom only thin crust.

The restaurant I have pizza has different cheeses. I've had feta and goat cheese on pizza. It varies daily. Also the veggies too. I've had eggplant, greens, hummus, all kinds of vegetables. I've even had elk pizza there. You would be amazed what you can put on pizza. And it's the best pizza IMHO in town.

We have a local pizza place (local in rural terms at least, it's 10 miles away) that does pizzas like you describe.  Multiple cheeses including feta.  They have a "Popeye" pizza with spinach, caramelized onions, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, mozzarella, cheddar, and feta.  A "Little Mermaid" with shrimp, pesto, and multiple cheeses.  And a bunch of others.  They routinely win the "best pizza in town" award.

I usually make pizza from scratch whenever we have pizza, but if we're getting takeout, it's worth the 30 minute-ish round trip.

Compared to some of the crazy pizza I've seen from around the world, that's tame.

I think it was Japan, but it might have been Worst Korea or Thailand, they had something called Seafood Delight. It has octopi, scallops, shrimp, caviar, and tuna.

What would you like on your pizza?
How about anchovies?
I'm not a fan, how about 1/2 anchovy, 1/2 sausage?
Sounds good.

After the internet:
What would you like on your pizza?
I like pineapple.

There is a small pizza town in a few Western states called Pudge Brothers. They have a Barney Fife pizza. White garlic sauce, chicken, tomatoes, onions, and Mozzarella cheese. I worked where one of the brothers was the manager. He gave me free food to take home. I never went hungry when I worked there delivering pizza at night.

I bet the "Popeye" is good. The place I mentioned sometimes puts pesto on pizza. In fact, they had pesto, shrimp, duck fat collard greens with feta cheese today and that was yummy!
