Love this show. It's the best.

This would've worked better as a standalone, Brit-style holiday special (no Sharon, no fallout from last episode's cliffhanger, and a time jump), but I still loved it. Roy's "I think... you might be dying" and Rebecca crushing Baby (Please Come Home) were obvious highlights, as was the callback to the posh "ussie" kid that now has selfies with Ted, Jamie, and Keeley.

Ted's going down a dark path, and I'm guessing we'll learn that his father committed suicide and that his positivity became a defense mechanism. The team has to start winning soon, because 4-4-16 would put them near relegation again at that pace.

Its good, and a breath of fresh cold air, but your recency bias is showing.

That's a pretty well done ad.  Apple spent some cash on that.  I bet they're scanning your iPhone for his face.

Yeah, any positive review must be an ad. God damn there's a bunch of joyless farks around here.

Beautiful episode.  I normally hate Christmas episodes.  But this nailed it.  I loved the team all coming to the Higgins house.

It was a solid episode. Watched it last night & it made me pissed it's still August and hot.

Just finished watching the episode, I quite enjoyed it.  Hannah Waddingham singing is always a nice addition for me.

The gathering at the Higgins house was one of my favorite parts of the episode.  Found family/family of choice really strikes a chord with me.

Okay, I liked the episode, and I'm enjoying the season buuuuuuuuuut...

I'm not getting the energy the first season had. The whole thing feels like a band that had a great debut album, and their second album is just all the hooks you liked about the first one, but just the hooks. You've heard it before, and the bits that really made the first one shine just aren't there because there's just a little too much sharp edge.

I think it is just the fact that the first season had no way of being any good at all and then over deilivered in everyway.

Everyone thought it was going to he the Cavemen 2.0 at worst or just another average cheesy sitcom at best. Instead every episode was better than the previous.

This season has been great, but without the added shock of being better than it should of been. Which is kind of an impossible bar to jump over season after season.

At the end of the day I think it is becoming exactly what it should be a great escape once a week for 40 minutes.

Fun episode and every moment of Roy Kelie and his niece was amazing.

NeoCortex42: Wait a sec, shouldn't all the signs have said Happy Christmas?

That was my only minor issue. Even mentioned it to my wife as we were watching. I'm guessing it's because it's geared towards an American audience, but it seems like one of those little cultural differences they could have highlighted. I'll admit that I've never spent Christmas in the UK, but we do watch a lot of TV from there and "happy" is certainly the more prevalent way they use it.

Same here. His power of postive thinking stihck is wearing thin with me and there is gold to me mined in Ted having an emotional breakthrough with the sports physiologist, and they appear to be heading there. Glad other characters are getting more development as well.

It's been a good season so far, but I think the main problem is there's really not meaningful conflict yet.

In the very first episode of season 1 we are presented with conflict between almost all of the characters to some degree. But now everyone's basically one big family rooting each other on (which is great) but they haven't found anything substantial to replace the struggle.

And while the show's habit of presenting conflict and resolving it quickly worked really well last season, it can also be somewhat of a flaw. For example, their haste in presenting Sam's family's attitude toward Dubai Air. Even though he wasn't previously a spokesperson for the company, are we really supposed to believe his parents never mentioned to him their parent company's damages to Nigeria after wearing their name on the front of his jersey for a whole season?

This season was going to be hard to live up to the magic of the first. And like I said, I think it's good so far but it's not quite back yet to it's previous highs. We all know where it's going. They're going to get promoted this season, then win the whole farking thing the next. It was a bold move in flat out announcing that, and I have faith they'll pull it off. It's just not fully back yet, but they are working with a longer episode count this season so that might also have an effect.

The great thing about this episode is that I was able to clamp my teeth together while vomiting and get a really good spray across the living room.

Also, isn't that rich lady giving out Christmas presents to people of other cultures a form of colonization?

I'd say the main ongoing conflict is that his coaching isn't yielding positive results.  It was directly addressed by Coach Beard late in season one, but it's only been mentioned in passing so far this season.  I imagine it's going to have to be directly addressed fairly soon.

If they are 4-4-16, they are at 28 points with 22 games remaining (if using Championships schedule). Last year, 77 points made the playoff so that's 49 points from 22 matches (2.23 pts/remaining match). That's 16-3-1 or 15-0-4.

I do like having a feel good show to watch as a nice change of pace, but man, for a minute I wondered with his drinking if this show was going to be like Breaking Bad but for sadness where they start getting good as he starts to become a shell of a person.

I feel the same. There was one scene with Keeley and Rebecca and Higgins and it just seemed so weird. And the rebecca dating plot feels really forced or something. Roy Kent has been hilarious, Jamie has been good. Happy guy killing the dog was also weird. And the creepy psychologist lady seems like a serial killer or something to me.

I missed that.

Dani and Zoro's lines while playing nerf gun with the youngest boy was so damn funny.  "Tell your wife I love her", "No, you'll tell her yourself".
