Wear a mask everywhere you go

The only thing really that anyone can do by themselves

Get the vaccine if ya havent already, and if/when the boosters come out, get those, too.

The stupid people want COVID.  Maybe we can set up an area where they can all contract the disease away from the rest of society.

With the ending of indoor restrictions in the UK I've gone from wearing a face mask to protect you to wearing a FFP3 rated mask to protect me from your virus-breath.

Back on August 1, some friends of mine were in town for a few days.  I was delighted to see them - it's been a helluva long time.  Of course, they're fully vaccinated, as are all of us here.

Well, they insisted on dragging me with them to go into DC to see the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History (against my better judgement and my arguments against).  Fine for them - they live by themselves, and if they want to take risks, that's their concern.  But I live with three other adults, one of whom is a lady in her early 80s who just had her gall bladder out and would be coming home from the hospital soon.  I wasn't anxious to go mix in with a crowd of drooling, mouth-breathing tourists from god knows what infected pestholes and then come back to my family.

But in the end, I went.  We took Metro downtown (it was Sunday morning, not too crowded).  The Hall of Fossils was busy but not overly full.  When we hit the Gems and Jewelry Exhibit, that place was packed like a sardine can.  After about two minutes I bailed.  I told them to enjoy themselves and stay as long as they wanted, but I was going to wait outside on the front steps.

I should *never* have gone on that damn trip, but it's now almost two weeks, and no COVID symptoms have shown up, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I got lucky.

(And Momma is home from the hospital, and is doing fine).

Keep yourself and your friends and family safe and wait for the plague rats to die off. Then reap the harvest of their estate sales.

If you're vaccinated, you're as safe as you can be.  If you want to mask for an additional layer of protection from a possible breakthrough infection, go for it.

Mask up.  Eventually, we'll get to the point where it'll be necessary to swing a bat at anyone unmasked who gets within range.

Mrs Fan and I (both vaccinated) have rolled back our activities. Restaurant meals are out. Masks are back on. It's too hot to go to a park, hike or other outdoor activity. We have a trip to Maine in October that now might be in jeopardy. Grrrrr. Damn the goobers who continue to drive us off the cliff of safety.
