Do I hear an electric?

OK, I CTFL.

I was JOKING about the electric part.  Only joking.

the production of a Corvette SUV seems almost ethereal

They need a new dictionary.  The one they have is broken.  Or maybe it's bespoke.

I will say this.

My dad has a small pickup with what was effectively a Corvette engine in it. It's fuuuun.

I think I speak for most people in my generation when I say they shouldn't mess with the Corvette.

Except for obvious updates, like making it an automatic, adding infant car seat anchors and a back-seat entertainment system that can stream episodes of Pocoyo, adding more and bigger cup-holders, throwing on a roof rack that can handle bikes for the whole family, oh and of course enough trunk space to carry a mission oak chair back from the antique mall.

But it's gotta be a Corvette, so you can take it down Rte 66 once they build enough Starbucks and outlet malls to make for a really groovy road trip.

But what is the towing capacity?  It needs at least a class "B" hitch to be authentic.

That would be a plus, but not if it affects fuel economy.  I want at least what I got out of my Nissan Sentra.

I'll have to share this with the boss.  He's in Vegas running one around on a track as a package that came with his mid engine model.

I've got an older Jeep, ad I kid him that we've each got one of Barbie's two favorite cars.

So, GM is following Ford and sticking their sports name on an SUV and hoping that people get excited about it.

Huh.

I like the company that brands some pickup truck after Harley Davison.

What does the truck drip oil nightly?

Ford called their electric SUV a Mustang. So I guess GM is doing the same silliness?

2021-08-12 1:51:17 PM
They just moved the engine. I wouldn't think they'd go farking with the toy, but I read the piece about the electric Mustang they made into something more like an SUV. But that was to fit a bicycle to get you where you wanted to go after finding a charger.

The renderings show a fastback, which is more of a crossover-lite than an SUV.

Makes about as much sense as one of those Porsche SUVs.

Can we please get over this SUV fad and get back to making real cars?  Thanks.  ;^)

That worked for Porsche and Lamborghini.  Porsche's SUVs pretty much saved the brand a few years ago.

This is the era of branding.  We'll be lucky if they don't eventually put the name on a pair of crocs.

the mustang is a pony car, like the camaro (a dad car, if you will)

older vettes are muscle cars, newer vettes can call themselves a sports car

Worse yet, a lot of SUVs are styled to disguise their SUVness. I'm looking at you, Ford, and your not-Mustang:

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to inform us whether the corvette has indeed ever been a supercar or if it is more deserving of the "clown car of supercars" title.

The once mighty Chevrolet Corvette:

Now an electric Running Shoe.

Great.

At least they didn't try to call their SUV a 911.

I recently spotted a Mitsubishi Eclipse on the road. Specifically a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. They took that low, sporty, impractical coupe and made it into a small SUV. Disappointing.

Hatchback Mustang, anyone?

Mercedes, BMW and Porsche have done this successfully for a long time.  Even Lamborghini did it, sorta.  Why not a Corvette?  Someone will surely buy it.

A Lamborghini SUV.  Not a Countach SUV.

That was the most blatant advertisement-pretending-to-be-journalism that I've ever read. So obviously written by Chevy's advertising team.

Also that car is gross.

they used masses more than once in the same farking sentence, maybe because they thought it rhymed, but I couldn't read past that.

The young ones don't know what a fastback is. They call them SUV's or crossovers these days.

/new e mustang is the best looking mustang since '67.
