Cook Out was entirely new to me, and "menu is so sprawling and dedicated to frenetic randomness" I found quite intriguing. until... ok, they sell hushpuppies but then not a single fish or other seafood? meh.
(or I guess if you sell corndogs then hush puppies are a logical extension. but still meh.)

https://cookout.com/menu/

too bad, there are a handful of their stores nearby~ish, I might have been willing to make a pilgrimage.

I prefer a bone-in drum, thigh, and biscuit combo. If I need to have a working lunch at my desk, KFC popcorn chicken did the trick. There was a franchise location around the corner of a former job that sold pickled whole jalapeños for 25 cents each. Better than coffee.

I waded through the overblown prose until I got to the review about McNuggets, and how they had received "a bad wrap".

I just eat McDonald's nuggets in a pinch, but my supermarket has these. They're frozen uncooked, so if you know your oven well, and bake them right, they're damn good.

and lo, behold, i agree with the "writer!"

the only "nugs" i like are wendy's.

there is one next to my work, and if i ever buy it i order on their app, then your spend earns you points for freebies. and a 4 piece nug is very often ALSO a freebie you can just add on, if you use mobile order. then i hit the drive through on the way home and pick it up.

these are classic "nugs" -strange, spongey, emulsified "chicken." BUT they are juicy, never have a grisly bit or "off" flavor (looking at you, mcdonalds i remember from 20 years ago!), and have a tasty coating. they don't even need sauce.

but if i want sauce i get barbecue. i also dip all fast-food (excluding portillo's) fries in the house barbecue. rarely in my life do i dip ANYTHING in straight ketchup.

and i consider a true nug a separate food group from a "popcorn" bit-o-breast-meat in crunchy fried coating.

i don't always eat chicken nuggets. but, when i do. i eat at wendy's!

The nuggets are even better. They're basically smaller chunks of the tenders, except they aren't cooked to death or dry.

I'm a fan of curly fries on honey mustard...their bbq sauce tastes like Sweet Baby Ray's...too sweet, not enough tang.
