For very complicated reasons, I found myself in conversation with the owner of a comedy club that immediately started employing him, and that person said, "Well, he has a right to make a living."

I was gobsmacked. I still wish I'd said, "No one is denying him the right to dig ditches."

You should have said that people have a right to not see an unsolicited jerk off session backstage with him. What a perverted asshole. I hope he gets heckled.

Aside from him being a jerk off, he pretty much burned out his schtick years ago.

Maybe he can open for Cosby?

Cancel all places that employ Louis CK.

Problem solved.  Once cancelled, make sure people and places stay cancelled.  Make the cancelled crawl to the teat of trump to survive.  Especially in hollywood.  Just farking cancel the people and make them go to putin or to trump.  Make them beg to eat at the butthole of trump just to survive.  Let the trump hole feed them like a momma bird puking into it's babies mouths.  Have them gobble it all up.

Lets make it exist.  When a person is objectively bad, cancel them.  Have everybody in the party stop selling them stuff.  Stop employing them.  Stop servicing them.  Divorce them.  Have the banking institutions close their accounts.  Stop acknowledging their existance such that if they are walking down the street, you don't see them and you just bowl them right over if they are in your way.  Make them go to Trump and beg to have mamma bird feed them just to survive.  Asking people nicely to keep their limp dicks in their pants has failed.  Time for people to fear taking their flacid cis male white cocks out in front of people without written consent, in triplicate, and with 30 days public notice for comments.

Problem solved.

OK.  So, we can all agree to cancel CK, and anybody that employs him.  Have the part leadership issue a shunning order so everybody is on board and get the banks and credit companies to start closing accounts in the morning.

Imagine a world where a powerful cis white male in Hollywood didn't whip out his flacid cock.  Well, we don't live in that world, because we only asked politely they didn't do it.  So, to get that world, we have to do something different.  We have to make the powerful white hollywood cis males fear whipping out their tiny dicks.  What I'd a legal form of fear?  Canceling them.  They dontbhave a right to work at any private company or stage.  They don't have a right to an account with a private credit company. They don't have right to purchase private property from people.  If we all stop servicing these pervs, they will have to go live with their maga chuds instead of Hollywood and new York city.  They can go live in Mara lago.  Have CK and coumo go suck up to trump.  They all like grabbing pussy probably.  Let them whip out their tiny white pricks in front of maga chuds.  Shun abusers and gropers from good society.  Make the party disavow them completely and shun them to a maga zone.

What is this coming out of hiding thing?  My fiance and I saw him perform 6 months before Covid hit, after the initial hiding, in Virginia (Sept. 2019).  He admitted to the allegations in the set and put it in his act.  No new allegations since.  I think this paper confused hiding with covid.  Nice of them to provide advertising for this guy.

Alright then, is it as bad as drugging women and raping them? Of course not. It's still farking creepy.

Yeah, he messed up, but wasn't it basically a matter of misreading the mood, and thus making a rather inappropriate advance at some women? It wasn't like he was forcing himself on anybody, was he? Serious question, because it seemed like a transgression roughly on par with the whole Paul Ruebens thing. Not sure if I missed some important details or something.

There was no physical contact, but the women involved stated that they felt like they couldn't say no due to his proximity to and power in the industry.

Plus he lied about it for years, which will obviously impact the people that spoke up about the behavior.

In the scenarios he was in he would be considered a "peer" and as such the power structure would denote that his actions are considered harassment.

It also come to bear that being a white male working in the field he does when this happened also means that he has considerably more advantages than females, and thus even at a level of "equals" they still were at a disadvantage over him.

You guys are seriously farked up.  I don't even know if it's worth the time to point out obvious things to you people, but here goes.

Louis CK did not drug anyone, did not touch, fondle, or grope anyone, did not rape anyone.

"But there was a power imbalance derpity detpity do!"

Fine.  He had "power".  You know what?  Unless someone is pointing a farking gun to your farking head, you also have the power to say "no thanks, not really into that sort of thing" when someone ASKS you whether or not you'd like to watch him take out his dick and jerk off in front of you.

He's got a weird, creepy kink.  He's not Bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein.  He deserves to have his life back.  You guys really need to get over yourselves.  But I won't hold my breath, because nuance and critical thinking are not strong suits for the Woke Brigade, and I'm already regretting wasting my time.

Were these women club-goers that happened to be at his show, or people in the industry that he may have been working with directly? I was always surprised at the amount of backlash he got for what initially sounded like just making slimy advances on girls at the club. He shouldn't have been doing it, obviously, but I wouldn't have expected quite this level of demonizing him for it.

I wouldn't be comfortable at all with having to watch someone masturbate but it wouldn't be nearly as harmful an experience as someone touching me when I did not consent to be touched. In the former situation I can look away or close my eyes and what is going on in front of me kind of goes away but if someone is touching you without your consent, disconnecting from that is far harder to do. Just saying that equating what Louis CK did to what Cosby or Weinstein did is ridiculous.

There's a kind of evil-sickness in the cancel culture where some get off on the idea of destroying someone else.

Okay, read up on it a bit more. Sounds like there were some more serious incidents, but he wasn't at Matt Lauer levels of predator. Again, definitely very inappropriate behavior, but it doesn't sound like he needs to be stoned in the street quite yet.

It was fellow comedians, and he had "make or break" power over most of their careers. There was an obvious power imbalance that everyone was aware of. For example, Garfunkel and Oates (Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome) felt that they had no choice when he cornered them in a hotel room.

Also, it is perfectly fine to kink shame, especially if your kink is forcing women to watch you spank it. That's what all those private virtual chat session are for. I think.

I'm curious - other than a public apology to start to repair his own image (which didn't come out until it was basically forced), what has he done to make recompense for his serial abuse of people under his control?  Has he worked to boost the careers of those he violated?  Used his power and standing to make things right?  Worked to create a more just and fair environment for women in his part of showbusiness?

Or did he do what most of these creeps do - lay low for a few years doing very little, living on their substantial wealth until public memory faded a little?  I haven't seen much in the way of Louis putting in a lot of effort to fix the problem he exemplified or repair the damage.

So you think seeing something horrible is equivalent to personally experiencing something horrible. If forced to choose between seeing someone masturbate in front of you and having unwanted sexual touching, you'd say "meh", they're basically the same?

If watching something is the same thing as participating, then I as well as so many others have done some really incredible things, like battling Thanos for the Infinity Gauntlet.

A very troubling thing that has happened in the last thirty-something years is the normalization of the evil twisting of other people's statements that is the hallmark of the right's assault on all things good.

You'd be better off if this was true. Unfortunately for you, however....

You'd be better off if this was true. Unfortunately for you, however....

I'm assuming you do this here because Babylon Bee keeps rejecting your submissions

But if it makes you feel any better you roped in a bunch of idiots who believe cancel culture is real. Which is like fooling a baby into thinking you've disappeared because you left the room

So, you're advocating a race to the bottom then?

I don't know about you but "Being asked by my boss if I'd like to see him yank his hog." is not something anybody should be worried about when going to work.

Cosmic Cowboy: Khellendros: Cosmic Cowboy: Good lord, Fark is full of assholes. The guy did bad things, no doubt. He has also paid dearly for it. But it's never enough for the Fark judgement squad. The guy should never be allowed on stage again for the rest of his life? Who do you think you are to pass such harsh judgement on others? How did your sense of fairness get so out of whack? It's so easy to be an absolutist when it's someone else's life in the balance.

Just going away for a while and "not doing it again" doesn't make things any better.

He isn't obligated to make the world a better place. He wasn't even obligated to apologize. His only obligation is to stop doing the bad things he was doing.

And no one is obligated to give him an audience or patronize places that let him perform.  No one is going to put him in irons that prevent him from getting on a stage and performing.  But if he wants a substantial portion of his audience back, just stopping the overtly awful act doesn't cut it.

Repair the damage, make restitution, and make the situation better.  That's the social obligation on people in power when they betray public trust.  As far as I can tell, he's done nothing but go away for a few years and did a "sorry, won't do it again" statement.  I'm not going to be ok with the school bully just because he stopped punching other kids in the hall until he demonstrates he's a better human being.

Shouldn't have to worry about it there either. The fark kinds of places do you frequent?

Kind of bizarre what some people will defend as "Normal" or "Not that bad". Like, if your boss or co-worker asked you to watch him jack it, at work or not, you'd just let it go? You wouldn't get skeeved out and report him? Or at least warn your other co-workers? You'd defend him because he "deserves to make a living"?

And you really can't compare professionalism in that workplace compared to a cubicle farm worker.

So we've found out 2 things about you

You think a person can do whatever they want to co-workers so long as it isn't in the place of business

You think that just because comedians may not be "as professional" that means whipping dicks out is okay. How many fellow comedians did you show your dick to?

If you are hanging out with a peer (CK was not their boss) outside of work where you are breaking the law a lot of bets are off.  The only thing off is the power balance thing.  Besides that you might think it is icky, but these are comics and comics are not (in general) the most normal people and I live and let live.  Would you be freaked out if you were hanging out with QT and he asked to see your feet?

Didn't say that either.  He didn't just whip it out.  He asked.  That is a huge difference.  And the number is zero.

Why was it zero? Why didn't you ask your fellow comedians politely if you could take your dick out and jerk off in front of them? It's apparently a perfectly reasonable thing to do

There are things that are not okay to do at work that are okay to do at work.  I don't see why this is a difficult concept.

I'm not even a CK fan, it is just odd how he got hammered and is associated with rapists even though he asked if he could do something and didn't if they said no.

I was gobsmacked. I still wish I'd said, "No one is denying him the right to dig ditches."

But cancel culture isn't supposed to exist.

🤷

Problem solved.

does fark also need to now be cancelled since they greenlit a link referencing this person?

Not until we can get the party leaders to publish a list of burn notices daily or weekly.  We need to know who to cancel.

Let's get a change.org petition going to get the party leaders to start pushing the burn notices.

TDWCom29: But what if you felt like you couldn't say no? That's kind of what the women are saying.

Sarah Silvermann said she didn't feel pressured to say yes.  In any job when you are with co-workers off-hours there are things that are raised that you might say no to.  Example:  at a bar and doing shots.  A group of people were doing shots and one person declined.  That person did have their career (indirectly) impacted by saying no to that.  Anytime you choose to associate with people you work with there is that possibility, it's just that this particular example was a little more extreme.

TDWCom29: At what point does "asking co-workers if they want to see you jerk off" become okay?

I don't know.  However when you are in a career like the one that these particular people are in 90% of the people you associate with are "co-workers".  Does that mean they can never ask a co-worker out?  They would feel they couldn't say no, right?

My whole point is in the thing that he did he did it in the best way he possibly could.  As I mentioned SS was fine with it, others were not.  There is no way to know without asking, which he did.

Take the whole same career aspect out of it.  He's hanging out with a couple fans from a show.  Would what he did be okay then?

I think cancel culture is more fear based. A venue may not book because of the fear of protests or bad media. I personally say let them do their shows, if we don't want them or whatever then we won't pay to go. But to say we can't experience what we want to cuz YOU don't like it is pretty unamerican

Why does it always come down to this nonsensical denialism?

CK's tv shows literally got cancelled. His movie was never shown in theaters, sold on dvd, or streamed. I don't care whether you think he's a bad person or not, he suffered because of this. fark, look at this thread entirely dedicated to making fun of his kink.

Why are you so mad, so dedicated to making sure people face consequences and yet pretend at the same time that those consequences aren't real? Why would you bother getting outraged if you don't think it works? Why are you arguing that he deserved those consequences?

Why do you think it's clever to be disingenuous?

I won't deny the incredible amount of talent he has as a comedy writer and even as a performer himself.
But i am also kinda of amazed that he apparently, can't seem to understand that no amount of talent can make him acceptable again.

If he gives any shiats about humanity at all, he needs to go back to just staying out of the public's way for the rest of his life.
he got his, he had his 15 min far far more than most ever get. He needs to do some adulating and just go quietly through the rest of his life, for the good of all.

I rail against "cancel culture" bullshiat because it's a bullshiat, stupid thing to be worried about. Louis lost his TV show and movie distribution for the same reason you don't see Michael Richards in anything for the last 20 years. People act like when people are cancelled it's for no good reason and they're put out into some phantom zone where they can never be in show business ever again. Everyone whose been cancelled (aside from Kramer) has continued to have a show business career. Hell, Mel Gibson is back

I mean look at you people, you're literally defending a sex-crime. Admittedly it's not to the level of a Bill Cosby sex crime, but all the same look at what you're defending. And you can do all the bullshiat "Oh it's just his kink" disingenuousness you want. But it's just weird that you guy are so into defending a guy who's so obviously in the wrong

Other than the obvious:  just not doing it, how could CK have done this and exercised his fetish?

Well I know how not to do it: The way he did it

Or do you think the women were lying just to get back at him for some odd reason?

This isn't rocket science.  He know what damage he's done, as do his victims.  It's been articulated clearly.  Restitution would/could include civil payments, underwriting and supporting events starring women comics and writers, contributing to woman's advocacy groups in showbusiness, speaking forcefully on the issue in public forums, etc.  You know, donating time and money to fix not only what he did, but to help dismantle the environment that made it possible.

How is this hard to comprehend?  You're advocating for him to act like it's no biggie and just pick up where he left off professionally.  And then to expect that everyone is ok with that.  Your route only makes sense if he doesn't want to fix what he did, or doesn't understand what he did wrong.  And if that's the case, he's still a total piece of shiat that hasn't learned anything.  I'd like to think he's capable of being a decent person.

If they didn't want him to, they could've said so.

I think a lot of people are really farking tired of this "have your cake and eat it too" notion that women are helpless babies who can't possibly mouth the word "no", even in a power dynamic situation, which in this case there wasn't even one.

Bottom line: HE ASKED THEM AND THEY SAID YES.  If they didn't mean it, well, last I checked he isn't a farking mind reader.

And yeah, it's weird and it's creepy and it's awkward and it's off putting.  It's also not a sex crime and it's none of our business.

Khellendros: Cosmic Cowboy: Khellendros: Cosmic Cowboy: Good lord, Fark is full of assholes.

I'm not going to be ok w ...

You're preaching to the choir - I'm all for letting the audience decide, that's how it's supposed to work. My only issue is with people trying to get him banned via pressuring club owners, his content providers, etc.  That's going too far - just vote with your patronage (or lack thereof) and move on with your life.

So you agree that cancel culture doesn't really exist?

No it exists but people also have a shiate memory... even with the internet.

Canceling isn't necessarily about cancelling a single person as it's about cancelling their fans.

Honestly who pisses you off more? Louis or the fans that keep him going? It's about bringing down people who you feel are championing things your itty-bitty feelings can't handle. By doing that you bring down the army.. which actually just pisses the army off and makes it all worse.

Jesus Christ, all he had to do was ask the audience or groupies who wanted to come watch him jerk off, which would completely fit in with his act. He didn't have to select women he worked with, especially ones who were much lower down the rung than he was. Asking Silverman was fine. They are about par on where they were in their career, writing for big names and doing the big specials, even having their own shows. Doing that to Kirkman, Micucci, et al was not. They were looking for the sort of jobs Louis had gotten for others and thought they had to pay-to-play, which is absolutely not unusual in show business.

This isn't hard. Don't try to do anything sexual with co-workers. If you're in a position of power or a headliner (and he was, and he knew it), don't ever, ever, make the first move.

And, for God's sake, stop trying to make your kink seem normal or important. This is something that you should do after the other party has already moved it beyond whatever you want to do. If they're already got their finger in your ass, having them watch you spank it is a hell of a lot more in the cards than if you are barely on a first name basis.

/Final question on the cam mutual masturbation thing - how do you arrange your laptop or worse yet, desktop, camera so you can see them and they can see your junk effectively? You'd have to angle the screen down a bit too much. Don't you get a crick in your neck? Do you scoot back, in which case, is the resolution on a zoom or facetime chat good enough?
//Although, in most of our cases, low resolution is a godsend.

Tom Hanks is the worst human being on the planet.

In preparation for Big, to "understand the heart of a child," Tom Hanks murdered a child, cut out his heart, and ate it.

On the set of Cast Away, he would urinate on Wilson the volleyball, then spike the pee-soaked ball at families who lived on the island and just walked up to see what the fuss was about.

The scene in Saving Private Ryan where a soldier is trying to stick a bomb to a tank tread and is blown to pieces was not special effects. Tom Hanks heard that it was that actor's birthday, and decided to sub out the prop bomb with real explosives "for a goof." The shot of the actor exploding was left in, but the aftermath was cut short because Tom Hanks burst into loud fits of laughter.

TDWCom29: moothemagiccow: TDWCom29: Oh no, the guy asking women if he can jerk off in front of them may be put in a ludicrous situation! Poor guy

You can be as kinky as you want so long as everyone you're kinky to is into it.

These are completely contradictory stances and you know it. This is doublethink.

How is it contradictory? Just because people are allowed to be kinky doesn't mean asking random-people-who-you-have-no-idea-are-into-your-kink won't make for a weird situation.

So the millions of hook-ups that happen every night in every city in America are out too then?

Haha, the funniest thing is you probably hit add comment and thought to yourself "Yup, this makes perfect sense"

The fark are you talking about? Hook-ups and "Hey can I jerk off in front of you?" couldn't be more different.

Are the hook ups penetrative sex?  If so, that is rape.  Women and womxn only consent to the violence of penetration because they are socially conditioned to.  All P in V sex is rape.

Scissoring is OK though.  Hand jobs are probably out.

mudesi: Fine.  He had "power".  You know what?  Unless someone is pointing a farking gun to your farking head, you also have the power to say "no thanks, not really into that sort of thing" when someone ASKS you whether or not you'd like to watch him take out his dick and jerk off in front of you.

Spoken like a man that has never had to deal with being on the low side of a power imbalance.

I have been on that low side in power structures.  Floor supervisors that go around giving full contact hugs to all the women.  The majority of women felt that if they told him no, they'd find themselves reassigned to accounts where there were higher instances of verbal abuse by callers, or put on shifts that made child care unaffordable if you could find a place that had late hours.  I did tell him "no".  I ended up on the last shift of the day and the accounts I answered phones for had very high levels of verbally abusive callers.

Even after I told him no, he had to demonstrate his power over me; my husband worked as a data analyst for the company.  We were on the same floor.  One day, my husband had an episode of low blood sugar that caused him to collapse.  My direct supervisor gave me permission to go off the phones and tend to my husband until the medics arrived.  After my husband was stabilized, I was allowed to take my lunch and drive him home.  As soon as I got back to the office, this floor supervisor decided this was the time he needed to go over a complaint that had been lodged against me by an account - a financial institution that made the decision instead of providing funds for property tax payments for a particular borrower that was in arrears, they elected to allow the property to go to tax sale - which the borrower wasn't aware of until the people that bought the property at auction showed up at the door to take possession of the house.  The complaint was about my telling the caller there was nothing I, nor the company I worked for, could do at this point and suggesting he contact an attorney.

Yeah, the floor supervisor decided that when I was already wound up and worried was a great time to discuss this. I cracked; I started to cry because I was overwhelmed.  At this point, the floor supervisor pulled me into a full body hug and ran his hands up and down my back.  I shoved him away, I left the building, got in my car, drove to another lot and cried, then drove home.

That's just one instance from my 40+ years of employment.  That's the mildest one.  I've worked places where the boss would drop skin mags on my desk.  I worked in other places where I was told that if I'd put out, I'd get ahead.  You know the two places where I didn't get sexually harassed? Working at a porn store and a legal brothel as the operations/office manager.

You know what the difference is between having a gun put to your head and the threat of losing the ability to feed, house and clothe yourself or your family?  The gun is actually less frightening.

He's a comedian. His job is literally supposed  to be able to read the room. He got permission but that only works so far.

I think at this point, he's beating a dead horse.

That's a tad generous. More like a ginger haired hamster.

How deep into the private life of an artist do I have to dig before I the Fark crowd allows me to enjoy the artists' products?

Artists are there to entertain me and I throw a fiver into their hat. Dance, monkey, dance, here is another fiver. Some artists only dance for more than a fiver. They are there to entertain me, not to marry me.
