Netflix already did.

Meh, just give me a decent single-player RPG.

The dice kind, not the vidya kind.

So now they can afford the glossy paper.

Huh, they are using Powered by the Apocalypse.  A good base for something like this.  I've already done a few games using things based on that and they've been fun to play.  Maybe next time my sunday night group finishes another game we might try this one.

They're having the Cowboy Bebop cast also do a live action Outlaw Star?  Sweet!  Being serious instead of needlessly confrontational for comedic effect for a moment, in my view the girl in suspended animation in the box breaks the tie in favor of Outlaw Star.  And speaking of being needlessly confrontational for comedic effect, Bennett the Sage (6:17):

I was hoping for something more granular, personally. The way the different disciplines and subdisciplines express in specific characters is part of what made the characters and setting interesting. You can be 'traditional' about certain things and not about others.

"For example, a character like Prince Zuko might roll with his Progress +3-instead of his Focus +1-when he faces Azula in an Agni Kai, since he's hoping to move the Fire Nation away from its genocidal past."

That's just stupid to me. Zuko's conservative, not progressive, his whole deal is a restoration of an earlier, less imperialistic model. Azula is the one who wants to change things, loves innovative technology, and has no respect for tradition in itself.

If that's the example given, my hopes a low.

Tabletop? As in needing to get within 6' of people IRL to play it? Meh.

Now a single player CRPG would hit the spot....

PBtA and when you create a character, you choose one of 6 Techniques: the 4 bending arts, Weapons, or Technology. So everyone is pretty much on equal footing in terms of 'power'. It's all in how you express your actions.

Magpie Games also has the QuickStart rules available for download, for free. So you can take a peek before you decide to join in.

I hope it will remain at list a bit true to Night Shyamalan's original source material.

Zuko was one of the founders of Republic City - he had some very progressive ideas. Azula, as adorable as she was, was farking crazy. Hard to assign motivation to someone that far off the edge.

Partly snarky but to be honest I don't know anyone IRL who still plays tabletop, or at least it's never been brought up.

I Used to play back in the original D&D days but it's been a long time.

My group meets every week, and has done so for nearly 20 years. In 2020, we played over the internet using Roll 20.

I remember when watching Legend of Korra thinking about how fun that setting could be for a tabletop game, so this is pretty cool. Unfortunately I don't know anyone else into this sort of thing, I'll have to try to fix that after the pandemic is over.

Holy cow, 4800% funded and one stretch goal left that I'm sure will be demolished within a day. This looks like a lot of fun and my buncha nerds who got me back into tabletop gaming are the same buncha nerds who got me to watch A:TLA (and I just finished the first season of Korra so I'm only skimming this stuff to avoid spoilers), so this is a must for me.

Now to decide if I fund the bloated kickstarter campaign or wait until it shows up in a local game store and support them too...

Subby here.

I just started rewatching myself.

I'm pretty sure they're gonna hit $3 million. At least. Highest earning TTRPG ever on Kickstarter.

Problem with stuff like this is that no matter how good it looks or well put together the system is, these games never seem to get to a critical mass of players needed to survive.

My advice would be see if you can find people interested in playing first before ordering.

Or, considering I've backed at least a dozen KS RPG projects and only been burned on 1 (Starfinder miniatures from Ninja Division), if you do some research and go with companies with a good track record or that you already know you want to support (been a fan of Magpie Games since 'The Play's The Thing', TTRPG where the players are actors in a Shakespearean play trying to do re-wrties and padding of their parts in rehearsals for more importance), you end up *not* loosing your money.

Ahhh, yes, an officially licensed game based on a popular franchise, released by a well-established publisher with a decade of success behind them, funded above and beyond the goal, and a publisher that has already had two other successful and delivered-upon Kickstarters ...

... Yes, those are the sort of fly-by-night Kickstarters you need to be wary of.

Good thinking. Thanks for the warning!

It's good manners to hand someone a fire extinguisher after burning them down that thoroughly, y'know.

I'm still waiting on one of Magpie Games' previous kickstarters - Root: The RPG, which had a target date of Sept 2020. It missed that date, but there was this global pandemic that may have interfered a bit, so I'll give them a pass.

I'm in for Avatar as well.

I have really enjoyed Magpie Games' games, I am happy they are getting a payday!  I'm not a huge Avatar guy but boy the amount of stuff you get is crazy, they're at $2.7M already...
