God, how far have the Lakers fallen to consider signing this cancer?
A really, really desperate move.

Neither one of them has got better during free agency.  Lulz

I friggin' love the Westbrook trade.  I can't get any Laker fans I know to bet me on next season.  They know.

What happened to tanking with the tram you already have? Is the 2023 draft looking to be that good?

What the hell are the Lakers thinking these days?

LeBron is as bad a GM as MJ was.   He's piling on the cancer.

Letting Caruso go and signing McClung and Anthony is not smart.

Melo is a great locker room presence.

I think the right-wing attacks on Melo are just so farking over the top. I get it he is black get over it.

Fark is so crazy I almost though this was a serious post.

pastramithemosterotic: What the hell are the Lakers thinking these days?

They're thinking they need shooting and players who can create their own shot. That was lacking drastically last year. As soon as AD went down and Bron went to the bench, the offense was completely dead. And even when Bron or AD were in the game and creating wide open shots for teammates, we put up enough bricks to build new pyramids.

I don't love the idea of all these older players, but that's who we can afford right now. Ariza, Bazemore, Ellington, and yes, Melo, can all hit a wide open shot with some consistency. Westbrook can't, but he can attack the rim and orchestrate the offense (which is what Schroeder was supposed to do, but didn't in the playoffs).

They are gonna be significantly worse defensively, so will the extra O make up for it?

They should have done the Hield trade.

I don't give a shiat if he were green... The dude is a frickin' ball hog who plays zero defense, and hasn't won shiat since he was 18.

That's the issue you should give a shiat if someone is green. You got yourself in a tizzy about a player you have clearly haven't watched play in half a decade.

My suggestion try working on your pump fake, jab step, pump fake, jab step.

I saw plenty of that in Kobe's late few years. It was downright painful to watch.

Ow! That was my feelings!: They are gonna be significantly worse defensively, so will the extra O make up for it?

Well, they also brought Dwight Howard back which should help. They never should've let him go after the championship season. He was the perfect role player - defends, rebounds, makes hustle plays. Perimeter defense will be an issue, I agree. But all those 3 point shots we missed last year led to a lot of easy transition buckets against us, so hopefully we negate some of that by hitting more of our shots.

that might be it ... Melo is aiming for Kobe's missed FGA record.   He and LeBron are roughly in the ballpark as the active leaders, but still a couple thousand behind Kobe.

Well good, back to never paying attention to the NBA because we all know who is gonna win the title.

Yay.

Oh but the Blazers signed Tony Snell! That'll do it.

I have a feeling Dame Lillard will somehow also be on the Lakers and it won't cost them anything.

Smart move by the Lakers. You always gotta have an old guy who has never won so you can win it for that guy.

/except if that guy is Chris Paul
//Melo has rehabbed his reputation and changed his attitude since going to Portland

IAmRight: Melo has rehabbed his reputation and changed his attitude since going to Portland

I'm wondering if that will keep now that he's potentially unhumbled himself. For his sake I hope it was a sincerely maturing experience.

TBH I love this Lakers team and hope they win it all. It seems like a terrible idea to have so many iso players and guys whose careers are old enough to drive legally. It seems like an awful plan to rely on a team that would've been amazing in 2014 (even assuming they had to play a 12-year-old Horton-Tucker). But by golly, it's gonna be fun to watch the old timers try to squeeze out a title.

And seeing Westbrook and Melo win a title would be fun.

And it'd be hilarious that LeBron got all his buddies a title except Chris Paul, who is supposedly his bestie.

And what'd be even more funny...LeBron won titles with JR Smith and Iman Shumpert. If he gets one with Melo...hell, he kinda did win a title with the Knicks...just not in New York. 'Member when everyone thought he was gonna go there? LOL
