Good grief. Hope they get $50million or more. A massive corporation terrorizing a couple like that should meet an asymmetrical judgment. Every time they do something like this. Luckily, some of the responsible jerks are in prison. The CEO who resigned with $57million should be thrashed for being a participant.

ebay is a garbage website run by the soulless minions of orthodoxy.

Ebay used to be good back in the day.  I used to sell quite a bit of stuff on there.  But then it was taken over by soulless corporate shiatheels catering to big retailers and shutting little guys out with huge fees that are effectively penalties against not selling larger quantities of stuff, and now it's sucked for many years. I don't even browse there any more.

If only there were some group of people in a rectangular domed building somewhere that had the power to break up these incredibly abusive online companies.

Nah, never happen. People keep putting stupid people there.

Yep, it sure was. During the first few years, I made thousands of dollars via eBay with very little effort. Many thousands. Paid off my student loan first and after that it was all "free money". It really sucked after Meg left (not sure if her leaving was the cause of eBay going downhill quickly), though. I still dabble in selling now and then but it's not nearly as fun as the olden days and I make no where near the same money. I originally averaged $300 (or much, much more) per week. I'd spend a few hours on the weekend at yard/church sales or thrifts, list things on a Saturday night (easier to get the drunk-bidders when they didn't have to work the next day), and sit back and watch the bids go through the roof. At the time, I sold mainly retro and "contemporary modern" items that were easy to find in my neck of the woods at estate sales (that market has since dried up being how that age-cohort...people who got married during the 50's-60's) are basically dying off.
Yep, there were a few good years with eBay and I sure to miss them.

Let me ask you a simple question. Do you want to die?

Oh tech bros... no one should ever expect them not to act like petulant imbeciles.

I saw "Bain" in TFA, and realized that corporate jackarses were at the heart of it.

That's not a simple question at all.

Me too.  I used to make good money on the most unexpected things.  I used to work for a large manufacturer of power tools, and one day saw that the chargers for the cheaper models were going for absurd amounts (2-4x what they actually retail for), so I twigged to the idea, bought a bunch at my cost (which was like 30% retail), and turned like 800-1000% profit.  Made some good coin that way. Couldn't even come close to doing that any more with the per-item fees they charge these days.

Good times.

"The articles that drew the eBay executives' ire included reports about the CEO's salary and his comments on protecting e-sellers against fraud. Prosecutors revealed angry text messages about an April 10, 2019, article titled "eBay CEO Devin Wenig Earns 152 Times That of Employees," as well as "eBay CEO Says Sellers Can Expect Greater Protections," from May 31, 2019. "

Talk about being thin skinned.

100% in agreement.  Selling where wasn't a great deal even 15 years ago and I can't remember the last time I looked at the site, much less bought anything there.

Now matter how liberal of a definition you have for a monopoly, eBay doesn't even come close.

That.  I barely use it these days.  In the early 2000s I was on there buying and selling and trading every day.  It's disgusting now.

I used EBay to get old video games and CDs. Yes, I still buy CDs. I rip them to my laptop and then dump them on to my phone to be listened to over a Bluetooth speaker. I just like having the physical CD.

I still buy often, usually scale model kits or the occasional book. Haven't sold there in over a decade.

My sister said her aunt's daughter's grandcousin-in-law's best friend's nephew said he saw eBay performing an unnatural act with a vintage, untested, parts-only sheep behind a Wendy's last tuesday.

/Can I opt for a box of live bees, or do they only have spiders? I don't know how to collect spider honey.
