So it might have an interesting premise and a group of diverse, fun characters and it will all fall apart by the 3rd season.

"(Well, technically two heartbeats, since two hearts...)," he added.

I realize that applies to both Time Lords and Centauri.

amindtat: zeroflight222: As long as he was allowed creative input, I'd love to see Richard Ayoade for awhile.  Even as just an alternate reality version or something.  It would be a return back to the bizarre and tongue-in-cheek humor of the older Who and less of the modern epic ballad.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the modern but they lost me after awhile when they put themselves into the corner of having to constantly outdo themselves.

He's got experience writing for Doctors:

Confabulat: PartTimeBuddha: Confabulat: I'm sure Neil Gaiman isn't doing anything.

If only.

I'm sure given his love of the franchise if the BBC could offer him more than 100 pounds and a holiday ham, he'd be all over it.

Perhaps they'll throw in a Hot Cocoa Sampler Box.

By the way, you know the BBC will never hire an American to run Doctor Who.

And they damn well should not.

Babylon 5 showrunner J. Michael Straczynski has volunteered to take over from Doctor Who's Chris Chibnall

Whoa, a Chinballian?  Really?  Out in the open like that?

fark yes

Doctor Who has been poisoned by British mediocrity for too, too long. To start with it was kind of dumb and charming, but it's been boring as hell for a decade now.

I don't think so? He was last still happily married to his equally eccentric wife last I checked. I hope not! Captain Jack was bad enough!

Hesitant yes.

I say hesitant because I saw what he did to Spider-Man comics. Horrible crap like the "spider-totem" origin for his powers, or killing Spidey and having his corpse form a cocoon and then come back with new powers (He can control spiders now! He has wrist-popping stingers kind of like Wolverine! He can stick with any part of his body!), or retconning Gwen's death to have her boinking Norman Osborn behind Peter's back before she died. JMS did some terrible, horrible, no-good things to Spider-Man just for the sake of "changing things", and most of them were so incredibly awful that they had to retcon them by having Pete trade his marriage (and the last several years of JMS' writing, the part they were really exorcising) to Mephisto to save Aunt May.

JMS is a good writer when he's not trying to "change things up". If he could have Gwen farking Norman Osborn, then I hate to see what he'd do to River Song.

Oh, shiat.... I didn't realize he was picked for that. Was this after he made Gwen Stacy into a Green Goblin-farking trollop and gave Spider-Man Wolverine claws?

JMS is a big part of why I stopped buying comic books. What did he do to Superman? I mean... How do you fark up Superman?! Even John Byrne couldn't fark up Superman too much.

I feel like Dan Slott was able to make some lemonade out of the Spider-Totem lemonade with Spider-Verse, though.

Morlun is still kind of a goofy villain, though. I find it hard to take his low-rent Dracula cosplay seriously.

Could be worse, he could have been the one who did Reign.

EdgeRunner: WilderKWight: EdgeRunner: Whoever they get for the next showrunner, I think they ought to stick with a female Doctor for awhile. Even though nearly everyone agrees Whittaker was unfairly saddled with bad writing, if the series immediately goes back to featuring another dude, it'll still leave the impression that making the Doctor a woman was a mistake. And that would be unfair.

Besides, it's canon that Time Lords often imitate the appearance of others when they regenerate. Do a few seasons of Karen Gillan as the Doc. It would be worth it just for the one inevitable episode where she bumps into Amy Pond again.

I just want the next feminine Doctor to be a bit less perky and bubbly. Maybe go for someone older, gruff, and snarky instead. Jennifer Saunders, perhaps?

There's nothing wrong with perky and bubbly so long as it's coupled with the Doctor's trademark irascibility. It worked for Baker, Tennant and Smith.

I want a female version of Six. Without the wonky coat. With a male companion who is a masculine version of Peri, right down to the cheesecake shots and screaming.
