Meh. Nothing going on in my part of Oregon. Got a bit of rain yesterday, certainly not monsoon level.

If it puts out the fires in southern/eastern Oregon, a couple of mudslides out in the sticks is worth it.

The American west, not the pacific northwest. I noticed that a sprinkling had shifted around the dust on my car yesterday.

I'm a bit further north.  Record-level rain here, I believe... but only on a seasonal scale, we're not getting it all at once.  Presumably it's helping wash all that west-coast smoke out of the air (because Canada's west coast has 'winter' and "OMFG it's all on fire!" seasons.  The fancy new AGW-approved heat dome didn't help, I'm sure.

I'm not keen on all this apocalypse weather, even though it has yet to do much where I live beyond occasionally hit us with an Arctic air mass to make winter that much worse.

In 2020 they marked July as the start. This year it was May. And apparently we're on track to blow past 2020's numbers. Good thing climate change is a hoax. :(

The problem is prayer and our connection with The Lord. We have a record heatwave, so we Pray for relief with cold. Then we ask Him for warmth to counteract.

He giveth.

Each summer you Pray that He will bring rain, then you beg for it to stop so He stops it.

You people need to quit trying to change the world and just have faith in His plan.

Unknown. I lived in Jacksonville for 2 years because the Air Force assumed I wanted to go there after a 2 year stay in Italy. I hated being stuck there.

I meant it in a good way meaning that that it puts a spell on you.

I love the gully washers we are getting but the mudslides in Glenwood Canyon are not awesome. I have to drive back and forth between Grand Junction and Denver often for work and adding 2 and a half hours to the drive suck balls. We will complain a bit but we will gladly take the water.

Mother Nature wants all the lanes.

More seriously, and not specific to you, but I've found the book Six Degrees to be a decent guide on what to expect going forward. A year's worth of rain in two days is exactly what that book describes. The hot air dries everything out, but when it does decide to dump, it dumps it all.

Way back in college I drove from Tucson to Albuquerque to visit a friend. I took a shortcut and wound up driving through Hatch during the chile festival. The entire area smelled like heaven with the roasting chiles.

StatelyGreekAutomaton: Peach_Fuz: When does fire season start out there?

Generally when rain season ends.

In Northern New Mexico (where I currently live) it's usually the opposite. We come out of winter into wind season. Wind season develops into fire season in May or June. Early July the monsoon rains arrive and end fire season (in good years) which leads into a drier but not fiery fall and a reasonably snowy winter.

Yes that's five seasons. If winter was associated with Heart we'd summon Captain Planet.
