Many operators blamed "low consumer confidence" in the face of confusing government messages about whether it was safe to attend.

Narrator: it isn't.

A low bar, though.

I'm fully vaccinated. I went to a bar last weekend - the first time I'd been out since March of last year (save a couple times for 1 beer in a nearly empty place at like 6 PM).
I regretted it immediately. Even with capacity and social-distancing rules in place it was just a dumb thing to do. We're all breathing the same air and drunk people are poor practitioners of distancing rules (even including myself - maybe especially since I've been in self-quarantine and just don't have the practice, despite being cognizant of them).

it was "complete madness" to limit nightclub entry to only those who've been double jabbed. "If it gets passed, I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of challenges. It's just nightclubs people are talking about now, but it sets a precedent that could run through a lot of other industries.

If this is what takes people to get jabbed then here's hoping it does spread to other industries.

A basic harsh reality is that the soul-the very essence-of disco is freedom of sexual expression. The atmosphere at such places is designed to lower inhibitions. A person who is now one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but who formerly used drugs and went to discos, said: "There were times when I could get higher in a discotheque than on drugs due to the effect of the strobe lights, the throb of the music and the hypnotic air."

Another Witness, who regretfully had to be expelled from the Christian congregation because he became swallowed up in the disco experience and committed all forms of fornication, later acknowledged: "It's a jungle. Even if you go there with your wife and want to enjoy a little dancing, she is undressed and raped in the minds of the men there even before you get her out on the dance floor."

So the harsh realities are that going to discos exposes one to sexual encounters, as well as an atmosphere that lowers sexual inhibitions. Of course, that is what many, perhaps the majority, are seeking. However, a true Christian heeds the apostolic command: "Flee from fornication." (1 Cor. 6:18) But, frankly, how can Christians really be heeding this command and at the same time be frequenting discos?

The involvement in immorality is not some remote possibility. It is a very real possibility. Reports are received regularly about its happening to those who go to discos. And what often follows? You know-unwanted pregnancies, venereal diseases, broken families, emotional troubles, fear, confusion, not to mention a bad conscience. Confrontation with such harsh realities can indeed cause a dilemma, yes, a really sad situation for a person and his or her family.

The government isn't stupid. It knows that by opening up it will extend the pandemic in the country.

It just doesn't care.

Now the vaccination program has been going well the death rates have plummeted and that is all that matters to this bunch of [redacted]. So a bunch of people who would never vote for this government are going to have life long medical issues from long covid. They just don't care.

My only deep sorrow is the unrelenting insistence of recording and motion picture companies upon purveying the most brutal, ugly, degenerate, vicious form of expression it has been my displeasure to hear-naturally I refer to the bulk of EDM.
It fosters almost totally negative and destructive reactions in young people. It smells phony and false. It is sung, played and written for the most part by cretinous goons and by means of its almost imbecilic reiterations and sly, lewd-in plain fact dirty-lyrics, and as I said before, it manages to be the martial music of every manbunned delinquent on the face of the earth.

Nah, this is what happened:

I agreed to meet Beth at the club tonight, what was I thinking?
Okay, Cat, you can do this.
This green dress is cute, I'll just drop it over my head - OMG, trapped, get it off me, off, off
When did my shoulders get wider?
How about nice black trousers? These...almost...zip
Screw that, leggings and a fancy top maybe?
Ah, leggings. Is this a coffee stain? Well, it's going to be dark
Tops, tops, tops. This trapeze shirt is cute. Oh, God, it has batwings. No, and also, why?
Sequined tank. Did it always stretch like that? This look is disco-bovine, no.
Ironic tee. Here's Iron Maiden but with cats. Now I look like aunt Enid going to bingo. Can I save this with a cropped moto jacket?

--Beth, sorry to drop out at last minute. Bad seafood salad, explosive diarrhea, best if I stay home
--No kidding, Jenn and Deirdre have the same thing? What a coincidence

I don't get the point of going to bars or clubs in the first place..It's not a thing for me..Alcoholic
drinks generally taste nasty to me and even if I did, why pay a premium for something I could make at home
or just buy (like beer) more cheaply. EDM "music" in particular is just annoying, and drunk people in
particular are a-holes  and I don't want to be around them. Paying a premium to scream over annoying music or loud talking, toward some drunk person all evening..wow.. that sounds like a hoot...

I'll stay in my fortress of solitude thank you..

When I went clubbing it was largely because it was the easiest way to meet single ladies that were looking to meet single guys like me.  I expect that the subsequent advent of hookup apps have contributed as much to the plight of the shady nightclub as COVID-19 has.

The "might" applies to "you might not want to be hanging around after dark". Which is true. I did not comment on that.

I commented on the two bolded parts about it happening to "even one of the White Sox's star players", which suggest indiscriminate discrimination. In other words, it doesn't matter who you are as long as you aren't white. Then I contrasted that with the harassment stopping as soon as the racists recognised him as a White Sox player. Making the discrimination discriminate.

"It even happens to White Sox's players" cannot be used as a modifier for how bad it is if the sentence also includes "they stopped when they noticed he was a White Sox's player".
