Why haven't they resurrected him? Matt Frewer is still alive and since he's supposed to be CG anyway his age wouldn't matter.

I'd be happy just to be able to watch the reruns somewhere. I think there's something about the music they used on the show that makes it hard to find anymore (When Johnny Fever plays Pink Floyd, someone wants some money for that).

That was a great show but I imagine not nearly enough people watched it. It had a good enough cast list to cost serious money, and they had multiple overseas filming locations. It couldn't have been cheap.

I have, and he already made several appearances on Stargate: Universe with his less-than-svelte frame (due to prednisone for arthritis, IIRC). His character's been a general and (essentially) desk jockey for years at this point, so he doesn't need to be in shape (besides, he's 71; he's earned it).

He's still got a way with a one-liner that makes it worth it. Honestly, I'd be happy enough if he and Teal'c just fired a few more golf balls into the 'gate.

Now replacing Cliff Simon? That would be the tough part.

"What's Happening", with everybody all grown up and on the latter end of their successful careers as lawyers, IT professionals, and in IT.
Shows can occasionally flash back to original episodes, if the writing is clever enough to craft a contemporary plot in a way that the flashbacks weave in nicely, not in a corny way.

Showing African American success stories like this - especially from meagre beginnings - would be inspiring. Cosby Show used to have that role, but no longer.

Only if de-aging technology is also available. Because I am not sure I want to see a show where all the characters are middle aged and living in like the early 2000's.

2021-08-01 4:55:59 AM
Imagine this farked up story:
Group of grunts on guard/inventory duty in a storage warehouse playing cards since it's a cold and boring night. They are sweating like pigs, no shirts, complaining about the heat. One guard asks another where the thermostat is to turn off the heat. Nobody knows. They all get up to look. They can't find one. A few more seconds of investigation, and they identify the heat is not from the climate control system, but from a crate in the warehouse marked PQL-116X-A784-C. The sheet says "DO NOT OPEN - CLASSIFIED CONTENTS" and to contact SecNav in case of emergency. One guard grabs his cell phone to call the number, the others freak out, but he makes the call anyway.
The scene flips back and forth between the guard and SecNav. SecNav is torqued at first, but as soon as he hears the crate number, he suddenly asks questions, and said he will be right there. SecNav then places a call asking for a pickup, and they will be picking up a retired Admiral on the way back to base...
Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice.. oops, wrong show...
The shot shows an old man with a cigar in a hot tub from behind.
Three attractive younger women in the hot tub with him...
One just removed her top... Then the doorbell rings... You see the old man stand up...
The camera work stays behind him as he puts on his robe and walks to the door...
He opens the door... Its a uniformed guy saying "You are needed on base. SecNav is waiting in the car for you..."
Next cut scene....
You see the cars rolling up to the warehouse on base...
Again, the camera angle stays behind the retired Admiral and SecNav.
Its snowing, but around the storage facility, its just wet. No snow on the roof or ground immediately around it...
As the men approach, a bluish white light flashes...
The men run inside...
Next cut scene, you see Retired Admiral Al Calavicci..Staring...Across the crate..
At himself....As the camera pans around... the first Al is now Sam....
Queue Intro....
And it only gets better from there.. :)
In this episode, the goal is to prevent the destruction of the equipment, and try to do a little bit of an upgrade to use newer tech. Maybe even a phone app for Ziggy :)
THe whole story is in my head...Even leaping back into the first leap, but this time playing someone else.. (albeit would need some cgi to make people look younger but could be a different character entirely in the episode, just to make it confusing)...
BUt before that episode..
He leaps back...to the old final episode...
but now, He's the bartender...
talking to.. himself....
And his goal is to get his original self to understand how imporant his work is...
And he can't leap out until his old self leaps out first..
ANyway, it was just an idea...
I doubt any of the Bellisarios would ever come to me for content ideas :)

realmolo: "House"

Just bring it back. Have Wilson miraculously survive, and Cuddy return.

And go back to the "case of the week" stuff, and have House himself not be a complete lunatic like he was in the later seasons.

The first 2 or 3 seasons of that show were so great. The fourth seasons was pretty good. After that, it just went off-the-rails. Most shows start to lose the magic after 3 or 4 seasons at most, but they don't go STUPID like that show did. Laurie was (sort-of) carrying that show on pure charisma for the last few seasons.

Anthology shows have this bad habit. They start out amazing. Really slow character development with essentially no continuous plot. Then the longer they stay on the more they feel the urge to do a major plot. Honestly, those tend to start okay, but then they realize they need to keep going more "epic" to justify continuing the show and it continues to get worse. You're kind of lucky if the show decides to end instead of going past the point of no return. Kind of like how Sherlock stopped at 2 seasons and a Christmas special instead of gradually degrading quality and eventually deciding to do a crossover show with the Saw movies.

Eureka is another example where the "x of the week" was awesome and then it didn't get better with the major arcs. By the end its a totally different type of show that you probably wouldn't have watched in the first place.

Oneiros: /surprised Dark Angel hasn't been mentioned

Was that a real show? I only saw the teasers and it was such an obvious "look at the sexy teen in tight leather" fest that I told Mrs Clam "some guy will get caught jerking off to that." Ads pushed that thing for months and then it was never heard from again, until Peter Griffin mentioned it in his list of shows that would have to be cancelled to bring Family Guy back.

At the time I had to do a mockup of a website showing enrolled users, and I made one like this:

Now I can't see "Dark Angel" without thinking of a fat cat.

If they hadn't wrapped up everything so thoroughly, I'd love to see more Justified. Oliphant and Goggins.

Without Hartman there's a lot missing.  And fark Andy Dick.

It started out great but the last couple seasons were just wierd for the sake of being weird.

Another vote for The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

And go ahead and block me but Enterprise. It just got good in its last season.

And Veep. The most hilarious show ever.

Oneiros: I suspect you'd like The Good Guys, if you haven't seen it. (A dysfunctional cop like Sledehammer by the guy who made Burn Notice, with Anya from Reaper)

Staring Colin Hanks as his straight-man side-kick.  Yup.  I remember it.  It was entertaining for the season it got.

Some shows that I haven't properly watched but sound good enough for one:

Metaloclaypse (Saw about one episode that ended on a cliffhanger and liked it, vowed to get back to it, was about to do so years later and then discovered that it had been canceled on another cliffhanger).

Kings (Haven't seen a second of it, but Fark and the reviews I read of it made it sound really good)

realmolo: "House"

Just bring it back. Have Wilson miraculously survive, and Cuddy return.

And go back to the "case of the week" stuff, and have House himself not be a complete lunatic like he was in the later seasons.

The first 2 or 3 seasons of that show were so great. The fourth seasons was pretty good. After that, it just went off-the-rails. Most shows start to lose the magic after 3 or 4 seasons at most, but they don't go STUPID like that show did. Laurie was (sort-of) carrying that show on pure charisma for the last few seasons.

If House came back today it would immediately be cancelled by the woke losers on twitter.  Seriously go rewatch the show and tell me they would let it air nowadays.

Yep, it was a real show.

It was a dystopian future sci-fi, where society had partially collapsed (checkpoints between sections of the city, stuff like that)

But there was a lab who had genetically modified kids with spliced animal DNA, and one of the batches had escaped, and now years later they're young adults and hiding out in the city

But they sometimes have weird medical issues due to their modifications, and there are other batches of kids (managed by adults) who are hunting them.

Yes, there was Jessica Alba and others in tight clothes, but it had that kinda Max Headroom dystopian vibe, pushing back against the corporate / military oppression.

And these days, most people probably don't cringe every time they see a Pontiac Aztek

Of course Jeff.  And not Jeffina.

I think I remember Oliver having a funny line once.   In a whole season.   He was no replacement for Jeff.

When I've shown it to people, I usually start them off with the Jeff-heavy episode "The Girl With Two Breasts"

Is that Continuum?  (I recognize Roger Cross, and I think that might be Lexa Doig on the far right.... But I see none of the 'good guys' from the show)

If so, another great choice.

And that reminds me (being Canadian SciFi), I'd love to have some closure for Jeremiah, too.

Damnit, now I'm getting to the 'just list everything' that I was trying to avoid

But on the 'bringing back old shows', I did like the Disney+ muppet show, except for the Beaker and Honeydew bits.  Honeydew was downright abusive to Beaker, not just a case of accidentally injuring him.

Billy Liar: Confabulat: jasonvatch: WKRP in Cincinnati

They did that already with the New WKRP in Cincinnati in the 1990s but they only had Herb, Les, and the Big Guy with the rest of the cast as recurring guest stars.

It didn't last long.

So now it would be The Les Nessman Show.

...and he'd finally get his helicopter.

No. It's Dark Matter.  Produced by the same studio that did Umbrella Academy and Producer that did Lost Girl.

btw: That's not Lexa Doig.  It's Melissa O'Neil.

Same here. I also didn't realize how "gifted" she was because she always wore those business suits on the show.

Cafe Threads: Barney Miller.

That was the smartest, best written, best casted sitcom within 15 years on either side.

Yes, it could have used more women, but it was a 70s cop show, so... what're ya gonna do?

Well, I guess MASH is still a contender, I don't know.

Must be with the original cast.

A lot of shows featuring dug-up corpses?
Or all the cast is in walkers or wheelchairs or mobility scooters?

Linda Lavin's arc as Wentworth was great.  I think they might have ended up overusing her if she stuck around.

I'd be happy just to be able to watch the reruns somewhere. I think there's something about the music they used on the show that makes it hard to find anymore (When Johnny Fever plays Pink Floyd, someone wants some money for that).

Tubi. Free app on Roku. Literally hundreds of thousands of episodes of shows (plus movies, stand-up, etc...) From most English-speaking countries incl US, and foreign-language countries as well. It's a  great find. Complete Dick van Dyke series, as well as hundreds of others. I discovered "Meet Corliss Archer," which was broadcast before I was born. Really good show.

I'd like to see a show bringing an actor from an old series to a talk-show format, where he/she must answer some questions about himself/herself as well as answering questions about the character he/she played, in the character's persona/voice, not knowing when the questions will shift. (Let's say the Actor is John and the Character was Boris.)
"So, John, what is your favorite car?"
"Tell us, Boris, what did you do professionally after the series ended?  Did the farm survive the 2006 financial meltdown?"
"Boris, did any of the characters pass away in the years that followed?"
"John, was there anything about your character that you disliked personally? Could the two of you have been friends in real life?"
"Boris, what is your favorite car?"
"Boris, did your marriage to Becky survive? Are you still married?"

The idea is to get into the heads of the characters and learn how the actor saw him/her, as well as other characters. Also, for an actor who had more than one role, he/she could be pelted with several questions interspersed with other characters he/she has portrayed. The questions could come from audience or be solicited beforehand from the national/international audience.  TV series or films, but asking the actor for insights into the characters, plots and aftermaths: what happened after the show ended as well as how the actor saw he/her part, what attracted the actor to the character ("I was hungry and I had bills to pay. I would have played any part, I was that desperate."), .... The title I'd like would be "After the Last Time They Yelled. 'Cut!'" (A little wordy, I know, maybe just "After 'Cut!'"

Not on Tubi. But they do have Greg the Bunny.
