What's the 5G network penetration like in those places these days?

I think 5G keeps the adversarial beams AWAY.
But I'm nuts.

Just got back from USVI. Let's just say 3G would have been an accomplishment.

They deploy every 8 days on average, so twice in a month seems like a slow period for them.

2021-07-31 7:45:28 PM
These two missions marked the 106th and 107th missions for the MSAU since the group was founded in 2013,

107 missions in 8 years, that's roughly 1 per month.

Marines do guard embassies globally. The organizational, communications and logistical systems are presumably already in place for Marine units to use. Having some other branch of the military become involved might create needless confusion but I'm just a layman speculating from the outside.

Hmm. It's been around 8 years?  8*12=96.  107/96=1.115/mo

So the last two missions were separated by 1 month?

it's a historical twist, since Marines were the only force available at the time to protect embassies in the Eighteenth and nineteenth century.

So what the fark are we doing having diplomatic relations with Eswatini then? Aren't we supposed to invade and liberate?

Or does Eswatini not have any oil?

From stories an old ex-SF 1SG told us, it sounds like did use to get used for the role. But those stories were related in... '07, I think, so they definitely took place before this unit was formed.

/It's also possible this unit is used to reinforce the Marines already there when people are worried
//And SF/SEALs are sent in when shiat'shiat the fan to extract VIPs
///But I don't know anything about that for sure

Marines have been in charge of diplomatic security since before there were Army Special Forces or Navy Seals.

They also have their own special forces units. Based on TFA these security response units are hand-picked from regular Marine embassy security teams. And as such will be extensively trained and experienced in the particulars of diplomatic security (which I would wager is a fair bit different than normal military special forces operations).

Those citizens need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. If they had the gumption to be born from the right womb, they could live as well as their king.

Eswatini is such a small, obscure country I'd bet more Americans would believe Wakanda was a real country before they believed that was.

Back when the Marines got the diplomatic security job there was no Federal police force. And there effectively was no Army.

They were literally the only option for operating on land in a foreign country for quite some time. So if the State Department needed somebody for some reason they called up the Marines (which was convenient because quite often in the 19th century diplomatic missions would travel on US Navy vessels).

To be fair, I suspect a lot more people would recognize Swaziland, which was it's English name until three years ago.

Of course many of those would only recognize it for jokes around its name.being similar to Switzerland.

I was not aware they had changed the name, admittedly the only thing I knew about Swaziland/Eswatini was where it was and that it existed but that's something I guess.

Well, princess, because it's a lot easier to try to get a nation to change its ways when you have cordial diplomatic relations with them than when you just pack your toys and stomp out saying you'll be back when they play nice.

I know diplomatic nuance is lost on anyone under the age of 40 in this country, but you could TRY to educate yourself.
