A reminder that estimates place the price of ending American homelessness at about $20 billion. That's ... it. That's all it would take. And yet we don't.

Maybe just my own personal anecdote but my Amazon experience has gone way downhill in the past few years. Lately if I try to buy something off of them, most of the available items for a given search are two to three pages of identical Chinese products with fly-by-night brand names that all obviously came from the same factory. I tried to buy a multipack of a hot sauce and the Amazon shipped a bunch of identical sauce, when I tried to complain I was told there was no return, and and when I tried to write a poor review on the product (for receiving the wrong product) they took it down because "that's a seller issue," even though it shipped from Amazon's warehouse. I tried to buy a wiper blade (having some dryrot on my rear blades) and they shipped the wrong size (even though eyeballing a 15" blade should tell you it's not a 12".) I have gotten to the point where reliability is such a concern that I try to avoid them, and their bossman is off playing spaceman games rather than continuing to ensure the quality of their service.

Source? And does ending homelessness mean give them houses?

Omg, they didn't sell as much as they did last year during lockdowns, oh fark, sell all your stock. I'm sure as of next week they'll be out of business, just like Apple.

Stocks on sale, buy it before people wise up.

How does that work?  He just sends everyone a bag of rice?  Does he have to do it every year?  Or does he send them money each year and hope no one else gets the money, but if they do then he sends more money?  Or does he build irrigation?  Or does he build roads so food can get to market?  Or does he end the primary source of modern famine which is conflict?

And I tired to look that up and it was all charities asking for donations saying that all we need is X money to solve hunger and they gave some high-level reasoning and ideas.  Now, you might say, "Well, we should try."  And we do try.  Billions are directed each year in an attempt to solve this problem and yet it persists.

This is because long term, endemic problems like hunger (a problem of resource creation and distribution) don't exist because no one is trying to solve them.  They exist because they are hard to solve.

Tell him if doesn't get his act together, Bill Gates will get it done and get all the glory.

/not really kidding
//Gates is making great strides, and don't underestimate Bezos' competitiveness
///Microsoft hater, and quite shocked by Bill's retirement career.

Perhaps Mr. Bezos can get a side job working at an Amazon distribution center. I hear they're always looking to hire.

Amazon doesn't accept Paypal so I don't shop with them. Pretty easy for me.

Anyone who thinks that he will lose money and not someone else in his stead is a fool.

Evidence points strongly to the fact that giving housing to the homeless (housing can take many forms) is indeed the most important thing in ending homelessness. In fact, programs in Utah have been very successful.
