I blame the lax sentencing guidelines for first White offenders.

2021-07-29 4:33:54 PM
The circumstance that led to the Jan. 6 insurrection, a presidential election, happens every four years, the judge noted.

Yes, but it will only happen when a Democrat wins, so we're cool.

I get plea deals if it was someone who just walked in after the doors were opened and didn't steal anything or beat anyone. I mean, back in the 90's you could just walk into the Capitol public areas even if Congress was in session. But if you planned to invade the Capitol, came armed, and fought with the police? You needs a jalin'.

A judge that gets it. About time.

2021-07-29 8:15:23 PM
A federal judge on Thursday pushed back on the government's decision to ink deals in the Capitol riot cases that involve low-level misdemeanors, questioning whether that was appropriate for people involved in "terrorizing members of Congress."

Who the fark is doing that shiat? We need names. And then they need to be confronted and maybe even charged with aiding and abetting treason.

We've been saying this since the first wrist got slapped.

Joe Biden's DoJ?

Pretty lenient sentences for insurrection and attempted murder.

But ... THESE ARE WHITE PEOPLE!!!!

... and they deserve Gitmo, the farking traitors.

Prosecutors in the government don't want to waste time on trials. Easier just to get plea deals and go back to twiddling thumbs and enjoying lavish taxpayer-funded benefits packages. They're still government bureaucrats at the end of the day.

Seems like maybe the prosecutors are looking to get the "lesser" cases out of the way so they can devote resources to the cases of those who were truly out for blood?

I'm glad all these people are being charged/prosecuted and will at the least have records now and probably serve some time and/or pay hefty fines. Unless I start hearing about weak deals with Proud Boys/Oath Keepers/etc. I'm not too concerned.

As pissed off as I am about these entitled white supremacists I still recognize some of them were more stupid than venal, and the reason we have courts is to sort out which are which and apply some level of proportionality.

Personally, I think for most of them a few months in the slammer is good enough but I think the REAL punishment includes:

1. Having to pay an attorney to tell you what an idiot you are.  And, most likely, that it has no bearing on your case if you think the election was stolen.  And it wasn't stolen anyway.  The court is not going to be moved by your delusional passion the way all your stupid friends are.  The court is going to be moved by evidence and it is all against you.

2. Having to pay an attorney to tell you why you are getting off so lightly even when you think a load of bricks was dumped on you.

3. Having to pay an attorney to coach you on how to make remorseful statements to the court and the media and admit you were wrong and you are soooo sorry.

For most of these entitled MAGAholes convinced of their own righteousness the above would be even worse (but not as costly) agony as prison food for 6 months.

2021-07-29 8:34:21 PM
Through most of the past, this kind of insurrection would be punished by being hanged, drawn and quartered.

I vote we take the compassionate route & just hang them.

I would love to see Gitmo packed with these traitors.  Maybe get some of them mooslum guards who will abuse there bibles and make them eat vegan meals.

2021-07-29 8:37:35 PM
The problem is that the insurrectionists took the wrong lesson from that day. The lesson they learned was that they were too peaceful on the 6th.

Just remember 81% of Republicans think the election was stolen and millions of them think Trump will be reinstated President in August

2021-07-29 8:49:29 PM
Are these individuals who pled guilty to misdemeanors at least being deemed persona non grata on Capitol grounds? I mean they've got a few years to work up the courage to try and disrupt certification of the next presidential election, and they should automatically face a harsher penalty if they try to do it again, IMHO.

Anything less that water boarding, followed by vivisection and an acid bath is too lenient for their treason.
Those people deserve worse.

2021-07-29 9:16:10 PM
What would be an appropriate punishment for these people?  Maybe a wall with their names and faces engraved on it to permanently remind them and the rest of the nation of their act of insurrection?

Death is usually the punishment for these kinds of things, but life imprisonment without parole works too.

I'm ok with heads on pikes around the national mall.  The Smithsonian can organize it.  What a great tourist attraction!

Heads lining the way to the art museums.  How very french.

Letting these traitors keep their heads is to be as much failures to America as all the prior generations that tolerated routine Conservative treason ever since the Founding.

This nation doesn't deserve to continue if these filthy asswipe bastards are tolerated within it.

Sorry, but I'm not wrong.   For example how would you categorize that guy who thought he was in the White House?   There are a lot of them operating at that level.   Nobody says that they are benign and innocent and not dangerous, but clearly they mostly just followers of a cause they aren't even equipped to understand.

I mean, I don't, for any of the reasons you mentioned, but I couldn't afford to either way. I guess that means I'm a terrible person by your reasoning. :(

The First Lady who was sentenced was very remorseful in court and went back to her bullshiat shenanigans once out.

Throw the book at them, every single one. Doesn't matter if they were stupid, they deserve years in prison to be a lesson to anyone who would try to do it again.

It's good enough for the minorities of our country, it's good enough for racist white people calling a police officer the n word.

Some things require barbarism.  I actually believe 'fascists tried to overthrow your country so they could oppress you' is one of them.

A noose is good enough though.  Hell, I'd even go with nitrogen asphyxiation even though that's pretty much the least barbaric way possible to end a life.  But execution is called for, and execution is simply not on the table.

You guys don't seem to realize how close you are to falling.  One fixed election, one slightly less incompetent coup attempt, they don't need a full victory - a Pyrrhic victory still takes down the country.

His *intent* was treason against the nation's proper functioning, using fear and intimidation as a terrorist.

Intelligence is irrelevant to intent and his intent should earn him death.

Your sympathy to him will only permit his evil to prosper.

They need to be charged with a felony.
They need to lose their right to participate in future elections.

2021-07-30 10:35:48 AM
Make them plead guilty to felonies. If they are allowed to serve probation rather than an actual prison sentence, make the sentence at least 2 years (after allowing for sentence reductions for good behavior) so that they are ineligible to vote in 2022 mid-term elections.*

They were willing to try and nullify my vote, let them suffer a similar punishment. Plus, if they try any similar shenanigans for the mid-terms, their probations are cancelled and they have to serve the remainder of their term in prison.

/ * a few states allow people to vote while on probation, but I'm willing to let a few slip through the cracks to send the general message to the others.
