I will give the GOP credit for one thing. They keep managing to find new levels of performative assholery.

You'd think that eventually they would plateau, but they just keep going and going.

This is what it looks like when your only guiding principle is "stiggin' it." Since you lack the ability to do anything of meaning, substance, or value, you have to look for pathetically staged photo ops at every opportunity, or seek ever larger targets to which you can attach yourself like a lamprey in order to glean even the tiniest bit of attention. Most people who live lives like this are stuck in a quiet desperation defined by a gnawing self-awareness of their own pathetic uselessness that they can never escape no matter how hard they try, and so they're forced into increasingly loud displays designed to perpetrate the only lie they have left, which is that they are in control of their own responses to situations. But, of course, they're not. It would be sad, and they would be deserving of pity, but they're too far gone at this point to ever be anything but abject failures and a drain on any system to which they attach themselves. So in the end, the only thing they're really worth is a scathing contempt, and everything that might go along with that. In the end, the scorn they receive will never actually be equal to the scorn they deserve. And that, to them, will be their only measure of success.

I tell ya, modern conservatives are doing their best to dispel any idea that even though you went to an Ivy League School, or other prestigious university, that the wind doesn't whistle through your ears.

Seriously, is there really a difference between legitimate stupidity, and performative stupidity? In this instance it still leads to the same result. Viral mutation, and deaths.

2021-07-29 6:06:35 PM
Well that's childish and petty.
If you don't like it, you could enforce vaccination requirements throughout the country so we could all stop wearing the god damned things for good, instead of just to 'own the libs'. You farking invalid.

Most, if not all, of the Senate is vaccinated. Including the assholes in that photo.

The House, on the other hand...

CDC guidance for the nation is that masks need to be worn indoors, again -- vaxx or no vaxx. Senate is a leading national institution that should be setting an example.

Not childish name-calling of those who are...

Kurt Vonnegut had a warning about becoming what you pretend to be.

I really am wondering if we end up having to draw that line through the country

Fux Massie and Kentucky for giving him to this nation. He's a sad sack of shick, and the entire world hates him.

RepThomasMassie: .@SpeakerPelosi directed the Capitol Hill Police Chief to arrest maskless staff and visitors in the Capitol. The only problem is she isn't Queen of the senate side, so I took my staff to the middle of the Capitol to visit the line between the House and Senate where COVID stops. https://t.co/zyCfGVuPHO

Can we please take up a fundraiser for the Sergeant at Arms to start decking these stupid motherfarkers with the ceremonial mace?

I'm really starting to wonder just how hard it is to get elected to the House of Representatives. I have to have all kinds of certifications to get a decent IT job but they can get elected with a GED. Seems like a pretty good gig.

Aaron Fritschner @Fritschner 36m

A group of unmasked Republican staffers are playing beer pong (but with cups of water) in the halls of Rayburn House Office Building. Presumably their need to demonstrate the exercise of "freedoms" is stronger than their sense of responsibility to justify taxpayer-funded salaries

How many dead Americans, precisely, is it going to take before "COVID" stops being a partisan slur?  "Where COVID stops" may be the single most offensive thing I have heard regarding the entire affair.

I will also say that it's a clear microcosm of the general GOP plan.  They're going to violate every norm, rule, and eventually law that keeps them from taking full autocratic control, and simply dare everyone else to stop them.

Consensus says the Democrats won't, because they're a fully integrated partner in creating the problem in the first place, playing their role as "opposition", but only so far as they need to in order to cash their checks and no further.

Who knows.  Maybe the Dem legislators who got a nice, good scare of being torn limb from limb by the mob in January are now motivated to do something about it.  We'll see...
