I know where they can get plate makers

Not like it matters. In the Portland area, cops are no longer pulling anyone over for "minor" infractions, which means it's become a heaven where the cops have stopped harassing you, but also a hell where a million un-plated claptraps and rustbuckets have hit the road with no registration and no inspection.

Got my new one just in time then.

So? Are we going to b*tch about that too?

Maybe they shouldn't have mandated license plate changes then. Several years ago they required that everyone pay for a new plate every 7 years under the guise that the reflective properties only last that long and the plays are harder to read after that. Then, after push back, they changed it to you need to buy a new one every time the title is transferred (and I heard at the time most care are sold or traded in more often than every seven years). So yeah, maybe they shouldn't be mandating so many license plate changes.

Around here, no one has bothered with anything but their long-expired paper tags for the past year-and-a-half.

Cafe Threads:

In my area temp tags are 8.5x11 printer sheets with numbers taped in a window. If the cars tinted you can't see it unless you're a foot from the window, lots of cars running around without a plate here. It'd be too darn easy to photoshop a temp tag for your car and all your buddies.

Police will continue to use well-established criteria to enforce any license plate issues.

Yeah, I'm shocked. This is my shocked post face. It's too bad no one warned about this like, I don't know, hundreds of times.

Sometimes you get what you ask for. Bravo.

I've noticed a lot of that as well. Wait... that guy's temporary registration expired last November and he has a brake light out... on 217/26 through Beaverton? There is no way he's gotten that far without 37 Beaverton PD and Washington County deputies seeing that. They clearly no longer GAF.

That's been true since the 1980s though.

Same here. The efforts of precrime are non existent on the roads.

That's hilarious. My side hurts. Do you have some citations? I'm betting one whole internets that you don't and you knew is jerking while reading this dumb post.

The coof and the riots have ended that charade. But I understand that for at least the next 200 years some group needs to be responsible for electing politicians that have always voted for "tough on crime" laws. I'm pretty sure it's just one group because everyone was manipulated.

If they can't properly tag their car, there's a decent chance they don't have insurance and don't have a valid driver's license.  Get them and their deadly weapon off the road.

Go on. Try to take my plate. (Plate only allows 6 alphanumerics.)

You mean Americans can't just go to the local car parts shop with the car ownership details and have them produce the plates then and there?

I can get new number plates for my car in under half an hour, most of which is driving to the shop.

Do you have some sort of citation from a scholarly source? I mean I get it. Feelings and stuff but you don't, right? My feelings say you don't and are talking with your southernmost mouth.
