Nanaimo is not on the sunshine coast.

Nanaimo is on Vancouver Island; the Sunshine Coast is a portion of the mainland that is only accessible by ferry because the government is too cheap to build a road.

That would be a great headline.... if I understood it

Farm owner Mike Gogo said "It was so hot and so dry down there that the mufflers from trucks were starting fires."... Gogo believes the fire could have been sparked by sun reflecting off a broken bottle or piece of glass.

Mike Gogo sounds like he has a lot of theories about how the fire started that don't involve Mike Gogo committing insurance fraud.

Doubtful. The area is in the longest drought they've ever recorded, 40 days of. Which people living in desert biomes might laugh at, but it's a "temperate rainforest" area, or otherwise known as "jungle". It's supposed to be damp.

It would be cheaper to build a bridge to it, and given that it would be a several kilometers long bridge, that's saying something.

Yeah, probably. There's maybe thirty thousand people living there now. That'd easily double in a few years after a permanent link is built, and that's just the beginning.

Nanaimo bars are a no-bake dessert bar recipe from early 1950s Canuckistan that includes raw eggs in the custard layer, rendering it too dangerous to serve to the elderly, the immunosuppressed or to young children.

And if you did have a road, it would be one helluva long drive, all the way out to Squamish and back again just to get as far as Gibsons.

Well according to Stats Can it was just north of 29000 in 2016, so maybe the bridge wasn't needed to jump the population so much?

Basically everything in BC south of about Prince George, including the south and east of the island, is either on fire or on the verge of being on fire. It's bad.
