You don't remember the tour where Neil Peart dresses as a clown and did the drums for Slipknot?

I saw this earlier. Man, total bummer. Only 46. Whether you liked Slipknot or not, his drummer was something else to witness. Dude was a manic on drums. So incredible.

Never got into the band, for whatever reason but he was a brilliant drummer, and the band had a real mystique and theatre to them, that when it dipped into silliness was always able to be brought back by the sheer talent of his drumming.

Same here. I know his ex and he always seemed like a cool dude for being in a nu metal band. She's cool too, but a bit of a mess. She got kicked out of Gwar for drinking too much.

Also, I had no idea until tonight that Slipknot replaced Joey with the son of Max Weinberg from the E Street Band and Conan O'Brien.

I don't really know any Slipknot songs, so subby's headline put this song in my head. It's a 90s straight edge hardcore band's attempt at a nu metal power ballad slow jam.

Everything from their debut album slams but this was damn near their masterpiece. Easily the heaviest song they ever did(I think. It's been a while and I kinda tuned out of Slipknot after the 3rd album) yet was still a crowd pleasing anthem.

I think Max himself once sat in and played with Slipknot. Not sure if it was a concert though.

Metabolic from the same album I feel is a heavier song, but that's just personal preference.

RIP drummer man. Live Joey was amazing as during it they'd let him rip on a drum solo while being lifted into the air and turned on his side towards the crowd. Then they'd light up a pentagram around him and turn it until it was upside down with him going to town on the drums the whole time. Don't know if they still do that with the new drummer but that bit of theatrics and drumming knocked the house down when they'd do it.

That sucks.  I loved Slipknot in middle school.  The first album is one of the only nu-metal albums I still think holds up.

RIP my man.

Saw Slipknot I want to say 13 times now. I waited by their bus in 2005 and got to meet Joey, Corey, and Chris that day. In 2009 I got Joey's stick as well as Chris's. Already had Clown's from 2004.

I talked with him for a few minutes. Got his autograph. Super nice dude to the fans. He crushed the drums like no other. I keep playing this on repeat. The sheer energy.

One of the funniest remakes of a photo ever. Max taking his son backstage to meet slipknot. That look from Jay at the camera like "Dad, you're embarrassing me!"

Never got into Slipknot, but I got to see them at Ozzfest back in 2001, and Joey provided one of the more memorable moments of the show, crawling up onto a 6/8-pack of drums all strapped together and banging away at them while the whole thing rocked around like a mechanical bull.

/also ended up at the same goth night club as him the night before, but I was more interested in the girl I was with

The infamous show where Lars had a breakdown on the flight over, and so Jordison played half the set and Dave Lombardo played the other half. The best Metallica has ever sounded, hands down.

Dude was an incredible drummer. I remember seeing them early on in their career on a tour with Machine Head and Coal Chamber and they were incredible live.

It always amazes me how drummers like that can remember all that complexity during all the different songs. Then again I am not coordinated to do 4 different things at once like a drummer, so I am sure there is a method to the madness.

Passed away in his sleep at 46.

Yeah.  Ok.

Wow, that is farking sad.  I'm a HUGE Slipknot fan.  And that dude was a monster drummer.  And I really REALLY farking hate it when people that are way younger than I am die like that.

Damn...  RIP, Mr Drummer guy.

Like. . A lot.
GWAR had just lost two core members to opiods.
She was being a drunk menace on the tour.
The survivors just couldn't take it anymore.

The tour with lamb of god & slipknot a decade or so ago, with the drum riser that they had? just badass.
