Vos or Van Der Breggen.

Hey, you know what I like to do? I like to watch sports I never get a chance to watch for four years. Right now I'm watching surfing, and I'm getting into it. There's no Canadians or Americans in it, but I'm having fun watching the compete level all the same.

Last night I watched the 10m Airsoft Pistol Finals. My friend is a nationally ranked competitor in the sport so it was fun to live-text it with him. He even explained some things to me about the rules and procedures. The Iranian who won the gold was in the zone, never had a wayward shot. And good for him and Iran, because they don't win much. He's a national hero now.

Anyway, that's my advice: fark the schedule. Go exploring. Watch events you've never seen before. Admire the proficiency and skill that these people went through just to get to this point. Expand your horizons.

The Olympics is about more than just your country, and it's about more than just sports you already watch year round. I like tennis and basketball, but I don't watch them during the Olympics. I don't see the point.

/I have this same advice when it comes to music festivals
//fark big names and performances, go find music you've never heard before

You see, I do both. I watch most of the big sports, and explore things that I usually can't find. The big stuff like swimming and track I try to watch live because I know I can't avoid spoilers from those. But I was watching the surfing (not going to lie, I got bored; which I wasn't surprised by) and I have skateboarding on now until flipping to rowing in a few.

There's no right way to watch the Olympics so don't act like your way is better than someone who just wants to watch the hits, because that's how you came off there.

I'm still disappointed, I can't get over to Pennsylvania (or at least not worth 3 hours roundtrip drive at random) to bet on Olympics over last two weeks. The sports betting app there basically had every Olympic event that I could think of available for betting, we are talking like all versions/weight classes. Mind you, I might have been cheap and just bet 10-50 cents to have action on almost everything.

I tweeted the Olympic Broadcasting Services last night after watching archery.  They would release the arrow, and the sound would be the arrow hitting the target

During the rowing, the starting horn was heard a full second before you'd see the boats move. And the horn that sounds when each boat crosses the finish line was heard a full second before you'd see the boat cross the line. Rowing is about to start for today, so we'll see if that's improved.

I have pages and pages of sound arguments why this is a terrible way to think, but it's completely off topic. Perhaps another time.

From the info I have, the betting is only on the 3-day event (which includes the prancing, but also has jumping and cross country) and the jumping event. So it's possible that someone could've bet on the prancing, but I don't know right now and since that's started; no more bets are being taken.

In the 1973 Belmont stakes, the betting line on Secretariat was -20.

That is, a $2 bet would win $1.80 if Secretariat won the race.

I imagine Ledecky has a similar betting line.

/Secretariat was such a heavy favorite, all other horses dropped out except for three
//less horses just allowed Secretariat to run faster. He notoriously hated running in crowds, so he always started off every race in last place to allow the field to stretch out, and then made his move on the backstretch
///he won the race by 31 lengths and was still accelerating at the finish line, a record that still stands today
////virtually all triple crown race horses today are in some way related to or descended from Secretariat

Dressage is what you're referring to.

There's cross country (which is badass because those jumps are GIGANTIC), and show jumping. The eventing competition is super fun, and can be incredibly tense, and very easy to understand.

There's 20 of them.  Five per heat.  Two runs, then 5 tricks.
