But freedoms! What about my freedoms to die needlessly and possibly kill grandma and lil' Bobbysue in the process??? Why do bad things always happen to ME!

I don't have to worry about that. I gave an Indian guide three sets of clothing to show me how to avoid coronavirus.

delta variant poses a great risk for unvaccinated people.

Too bad there's no way to avoid that. No way at all.

It feels like the Time Machine was right. We'll have Morlocks and Eloi; only the people underground will be the good guys, rising to the surface to tranq dart an Eloi to bring them beneath...to vaccinate them, give them clean water and healthy food so they don't die from being dumbasses.

There are multiple ways to avoid this. Too bad each way is literally more worse than Hitler times 9/11 to the power of Kamala*

There are over 200 common cold viruses so the jig might be up even for the ones vaccinated.

Once we are all gone the space aliens will get the climate right again and start over.

I stopped in at the 7-11 for beer this week and out of about 10 customers only two were masked. I think things have tilted towards being viewed as overly-dramatic for wearing a mask and that's a really bad thing.

This headline doesn't make sense...

The concern was dying of dysentery on the way to Oregon, on the trail, not once you got there.

You have to thank the unvaccinated people though for the contribution to science. If we didn't have a control group, we wouldn't know that the vaccine is so effective.

2021-07-24 1:26:45 PM
It's gonna be the dominant strain anywhere, because it's highly contagious and because unvaccinated people are the worst. This was an inevitability without forced vaccination, which we still refuse to do. We've decided killing innocent people is simply the price we pay.

Really excited to get my kids vaccinated
annnny day now

What's that ? They are last in line? In fact so far back in line it's not really a line at all it's just a bunch of people standing around going nowhere?

Mostly because personal responsibility is a stupid farking concept and if you don't believe me did any of these people take a personal responsibility to not get infected

No they didn't

Instead they whined and cried and made excuses

Why didn't they apply any of their bootstrapping tough loving sucking it up get her done audiological bullshiat to this situation

I suspect because all the bile they spew out isn't actually genuine integrity it's just crap they say so they can shiat on other people less fortunate than them

But anyway I digress

Seriously though the next time someone says personal responsibility and reference to some shiat someone needs bring up this refusal to wear mask social distance and stay home

"My message today is to people who have not yet been vaccinated, you are in harm's way," said Sidelinger.

They don't care. By and large, they've consciously decided to remain in harm's way. Prepare accordingly.

I'd love to say it's just Oregonian stupidity, but I just came back from the Southcenter Costco - my first trip there since October 2020 - in Tukwila, WA, where at least 75% of the folks I saw weren't wearing masks even though the store was handing them out. People were taking the masks, shoving them in their pockets, and continuing on into the store.

Until we're all safe, none of us should regard ourselves as such - if for no other reason than we could infect others even while remaining blissfully unaware of our own asymptomatic infection.

Yep. It's why I've resolved to continue with my usual regimen. I plan on winning this particular contest, instead of getting stomped by a coronavirus variant even as I can see the finish line. I'm OK with being overly risk-averse.

The word "contagious" never enters into these rationales. If you have a COVID infection you are a threat to other people. You have a right to bear arms. This does not include the right to walk down the street or through a shopping mall firing your weapon of choice. If you have a contagious disease, every step you take in public is the equivalent of randomly firing your gun.

It is right to mock and scorn the unvaccinated.  They are keeping Covid alive, infecting, mutating...
20% of all new infections in LA are among the vaccinated.  Thankfully, infection while vaccinated is a mild illness.
Just wait until infected while vaccinated becomes life-threatening, which it will given time and a few additional mutations.

I know a woman who recently came down with [pause for dramatic effect] mumps. She'd had the MMR vaccine as a tot. It's such a rare disease that doctors originally didn't test for mumps. It turns out that mumps vaccine has an 81% effectiveness rate. It's just that everyone** has had the vaccine. The COVID vaccine has a 99.5% effectiveness rate. It isn't impossible that we could get to a mumps level rarity [ sigh ] if it weren't for Republicans. That isn't it a partisan observation. Responsible [sic] Republican officeholders have been saying similar things recently.

Wasn't me...but...this is the same government  that has been caught red-handed testing on its own populace (let alone what happens elsewhere).
Do you really want to give them control over your body, "for the greater good"?

/and don't get me wrong, I'm vaccinated...but power once given will (almost) never be given back
//and if the wrong person/people are in charge who knows what can happen

Dude SCOTUS upheld the government's authority to force vaccines on people in the early 20th century. This precedent still stands.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacobson_v._Massachusetts

The Court held that "in every well ordered society charged with the duty of conserving the safety of its members the rights of the individual in respect of his liberty may at times, under the pressure of great dangers, be subjected to such restraint, to be enforced by reasonable regulations, as the safety of the general public may demand"

I got called out online for saying I still wear my mask and never stopped wearing it despite being vaccinated.  I'm in Fort Worth.  We're at, I think around 50% vaccination rate. But you wouldn't know it by the fact that probably 90% of people aren't wearing masks anymore. Now I'm the weirdo. But I've noticed a slight uptick of people wearing masks again just in the last week. I think the Delta variant has a lot of people rethink things.

I am home sick with Covid-19. Of the 17 people at my work 9 got sick. All 7 unvaccinated idiots, me and an older diabetic guy who was also fully vaxed. The Delta v. is seriously more contagious. Before the shots were so available, we had a former employee get the earlier covid strain, but no one else at work got it. Only 2 people had started their shots then.

I didn't realize how many people at my job had not had the shots.
