Of course not, change scares them, no matter if it's society, science, morals, or their underwear

But mostly new ideas

So they take solace in being told what to do, how to think, who to hate, self determination means questioning things, and sometime breaking with traditions and starting new, and that terrifies them

This Beau guy usually says sensible, if not earth shattering things. What's wild to me is just how eager liberals are to venerate this actor and hype everything he says, because he presents as a "should be-MAGA."  Black folk (and black women) have been saying most of this stuff for YEARS, but nothing is really important unless some white dude (preferably a "rural" Sam Elliott type) says it.

Opiate of the Lasses: Everything is kayfabe.

Broadcasting under a bare lightbulb from a shed packed with camping gear, Beau appeared as a Southern gun owner with progressive views. He had a calming demeanor, unkempt beard, military aura and huge YouTube following.

But Beau, whose real name is Justin King, also had a history of supporting anarchism and making statements that to many seem anti-Semitic. He is a felon.

You sure seem to have showed up with a bunch of prefab problems with this guy. Which isn't at all weird.

Make up your mind whether he's an actor or a hardcore far left anarchist who does the things he talks about as well as doing the time for doing them.

Most anarchists are neither right or left.  They believe in no government at all.  So why the hell would they pick a side?

After listening to him, he sounds a lot like libertarians (which are really just anarchists in suits), so he's not talking to people that want the nation to work for everyone.  In the end, he's hoping that people will follow his way of thinking and disregard government completely.

He's wrong about where the Trump Humpers seek their orders. They don't take their orders from 'the government.' They take their orders from assholes socially dominant personalities who are exceptionally good at cultural affinity fraud. In other words, they take their orders from people like Trump whether they are in government or not.

Government mandates won't move these people except by force. The only thing that might move this people voluntarily is the assholes changing their tune.

He actually stands a chance at getting though to the Trumpers.

We're kinda in this quagmire precisely because some people absolutely abhor other groups to the point that they will cut off their nose to spite their face. I guarantee that a maga will watch more of this than of some minority saying the same thing verbatim. Image means a lot to racists.

I think he understands this as an actor because he kinda made that point in this video. He talks about how they will only do what the leader wishes and disregards those people, even if it is to their own detriment.

baka-san: But mostly new ideas

I don't disagree, but if I may get pedantic: Trump's election and subsequent term brought many abnormalities; they were merely abnormalities that Republicans were comfortable with.  For one, we'd never elected a president with zero political, military, or civic experience -- something I naively believed at the time would help prevent his victory.

Oh no, he was convicted of helping the wrong people people get jobs in the service sector for legitimate businesses.

Yes, technically what he did was a felony. But it's only a felony because the rich don't want workers to be able to go where the best paying jobs are because then they'd have to pay us more.

Not gonna reply directly, but "making statements that to many seem antisemitic" is so insanely weaselly that I fail to understand why a paper like the LA Times would even deign to print it, especially given the article proves exactly zero examples.

And like I give a sh*t if the ADL thinks something is antisemitic. They shouldn't be throwing stones from inside their glassiest of houses. The ADL is a traitorous group of racists that deserves to be utterly destroyed.

I'm seeing much less of that (and being less fascinated by it) than the converse:  Rabid MAGAs incensed by his "liberal-fetishism" because he presents as a should-be MAGA.  It's telling that when left-leaning folks find that you hold a right-wing opinion, you're assumed to have bought propaganda or been misled.  When right-wing folks find you hold a left-wing opinion, you're accused of "wanting to suck Biden's dick" or similar fetishism right away.  Every accusation is a projection.  They fear the very cults of personality they believe are right and noble... for their heroes.

Beau's very existence points to the validity of labeling MAGA, Trumpism, the current far-right as dyed-in-the-wool Fascist, Nazi, White Supremacists, because he is one of the only legitimate, sane Conservatives I've seen speaking throughout the last few election cycles.  He's fully Libertarian, and, coincidentally, the only remotely sane Libertarian I've ver heard.

He believes people should govern themseves... but that is not going to happen without tools, education, training, and leadership that makes that happen.  And in cases where it doesn't or can't happen, that's what government is for.

The thing that sets him apart for me is his ability to look at himself and say he doesn't understand black and POC problems but still tries to find a solution.

He doesn't speak like he knows the struggles of others and is one of the few libertarian folks I have heard actually come to terms with the fact government can do good but we have to have very ardent watchmen over them.

During one of the BLM videos he specifically states that he is not try to talk for black folks and just trying to address the situation in the country.

No matter how hard he has tried there are always going to naysayers that just hate the idea of people getting along be they right or left.

My dad is a conservative, not a trumper. I want to help him get better but these same people that shiat on beau are the same people that say I should just cut off my family because of political differences.

If not for my time and effort my parents wouldn't be vaccinated and believe in Covid, so I say he is fighting the good fight to get the message to the people that need to hear it.
