They might prevent the populous at-large from shiatposting on Fb, but that won't in any way slow down state sponsored activities to sow discord in countries the Russian government has a beef with. In other words, the Fark politics tab is still gonna poltab, with all of the 'free thinking" you've come to know and love.

It won't stop their offense, no.

However, isolating the nation as a security measure is stupid, at best. This has long been their strategy for any perceived threat, and it's only worked to keep them ass-backwards. This trend will apparently continue. So in effect, this will further degrade any hopes they may have had of economic, social or global progress.
