Why do people consistently underrate the Bills?

IOW if there's a postponement because of a COVID outbreak, you better hope it happens before your bye week.

Afterwards, you are farked.

Now watch players: a) ask to be cut, b) put on the COVID list and out for the year, c) retire or d) try to take the NFL and the PA to court to overturn it.

Why do the tides come in and go out?

Why does toast always land butter side down?

How do magnets work?

These are questions that can't be answered.

The way teams make sure everyone gets paid and there's no revenue lost is to get everyone, including staff, vaccinated. If there's a breakthrough infection and everyone is vaccinated, no money is lost.

The other thing this says to me is the league has a shiatload of money in the bank, since they can afford to pay out the lost ad and ticket revenue for teams forced to not play.

Strange days indeed.  Now those that are going to do tankapalooza to get a top 10 pick for the next draft aren't going to care either way.

Those wanting to get to the playoffs that will determine whether or not they keep their jobs, you bet your ass they want all bases covered.

Cancelled games mean a loss of revenue.

The tanking teams will care just as much, if not more.

/assuming you want to maximize revenue while also minimizing salary

As a Steelers fan, all I can say is GOOD! Steelers are >85% vaccinated and got screwed over several times last year due to other teams having covid outbreaks. I'm glad that crap isn't going to fly this year.

Here's why the owners care. The Packers released their financials for 2020 a couple weeks ago and they lost $40+ million last year. Now I know we all make fun of accounting and how its not really a loss or whatever. But I guarantee you a team like Dallas or the Raiders lost a fark ton more than this. Jerruh wants his blood money NOW

Teams are literally going to go "Vax or be dropped" at this point... NFL contracts aren't guaranteed for any reason... they can drop you because you cost too much, aren't producing enough, or are just an idiot (who won't get vaxxed).

I mean ....that matters for the Packers. But for the rest of those teams, they own an insanely appreciating asset. If $40 or $50 million loss one year bothers them, they can always sell the team for billions.

Anyway, the players are gonna eat more than their fair share when the salary cap feels the impact of 2020

No the Steelers will get screwed this year because they're relying on Captain Fat Fark to not fall off a cliff.

Not only happens "before your bye week", but also before your opponent's bye week and/or in a way that the NFL can reshuffle the schedule to fit it into a bye week.

The league can do a lot of shuffling around, although IMO, other teams are not going to be fans of "let's move around 8 other game dates to get your game rescheduled"... unless it is fairly painless across the league schedule to reschedule your game, you are going to take the loss.

Question... if BOTH teams have separate outbreaks, do they both get a loss?   Get a tie?

Wonder if a visiting team is forced to forfeit, will they have to pay the home team anything to offset the lost revenue for that week?

This is the kind of "honor system / peer pressure" they seem to think works at my company.  It doesn't.  But hopefully it works out for the NFL.

damn, that's pretty awesome.

2021-07-22 2:59:43 PM
I don't understand how this isn't on the team leaders.  Yes, yes, CBA says the league can't mandate.  But it definitely put in some disadvantages to the teams without the proper vaccination rates.

So how are the team captains and the locker room leaders not calling Beasley (and others) and saying, "Yeah, personal freedom?  Sure, I understand.  Medical concerns?  Oh, I definitely hear you.  Your choice?  It definitely is.  Also, it's my choice to come in and beat the living shiat out of you every f*cking time I see you in the locker room because you're putting the team at a disadvantage.  So, either get your goddamned shot, or prepare for the worst motherf*cking year of your life.  Oh, and again, I totally respect your personal choices."

chevydeuce: Wonder if a visiting team is forced to forfeit, will they have to pay the home team anything to offset the lost revenue for that week?

It does appear so ...
"says the team responsible for a canceled game because of an outbreak among unvaccinated players/staff will be responsible for financial losses and subject to potential discipline from the commissioner."

So, pretty clear if you are the road team, you are paying the home team's losses for not being able to run the game.

Probably, because things like the salary cap are based on percentage of revenue

The tweet doesn't mention the thing that gives this some teeth. If a game can't be postponed, not only does it count as a forfeit, but also, no one on the team gets paid for that week.

Has a "Whenever Private Pyle f***ks up, I will not punish him. Instead I will punish all of YOU!" vibe to it.

The Packers most certainly isn't legit.

When it suits them, they report their accounts on a cash basis.

So they pretend that paying a 50 million bonus is all a loss for one year rather than amortising it. The goal of the Packers accounting staff is to show not too much profit because that would be bad for the other teams.

Are we sure on that respect?   Or would the other teams pay be part of the "financial cost" the team with the unvaxxed outbreak would incur?

I mean, a team and it's players can only really lean on their own teams players.   If we start getting what you said... I pity the first game of a divisional matchup getting cancelled and the 2nd game still getting played later on... nobody is going to care about the fines.

Well, that won't do them any favors when the rematch does happen.
Coaches won't even have to put out bounties.
