Look, the farking CDC went bullshiat announcing people didn't need to wear masks. Since there's no way to tell who is vaccinated and who isn't, we need to mask the fark up, and we need to do it soon. I expect they will walk back that rule, just like every other rule they've gotten wrong about masks since the beginning.

WEAR. A. MASK.

I get the feeling there will be massive changes in how the CDC operates when it's all said and done.

/whether they'll be changes that actually help or make things worse depends on how the 2022 and 2024 elections go.

A lot of us, maybe most of us (at least in my city) never stopped wearing masks. Anyone who has been paying attention knows what to do.

I'm still wearing a mask in all indoor public spaces, and am happy that Los Angeles went back to requiring them in all indoor public spaces. It's a big county, but in the LA beach cities, people seem to be masking up without raising a ruckus.

FLA has a boat load of blessings that put it on the map. Seniors. Drunk seniors. Drunk frat boys. All the East Coast divorcees who run away for drunken debauchery. Clueless tourists that don't know the roads. Best of all, Florida Man. No wonder they put Disney there.

I didn't see a single person wearing a mask who wasn't somehow helping customers or diners. Florida's infection rate is being held down because so many maskless tourists won't get sick until they return home. No idea how to explain the idiot Floridians who refuse to mask up. Oh, yeah, I do: It's Florida.

Right?

/
I have too many questions about that.

1. So some people did in fact become gynecologist simply to look at ladybits all day?

2. This seems to put a hole in the theory that you would get bored.

3.
Somebody's parents I don't understand okay fine it's a doctor and you think he knows better than you yada yada but I've had friends tell me they were bothered by the fact our doctor tried to touch them with no glove and that's exactly where I draw the line you might have some excuses to stick your finger in me but if you do it without the glove I'm going to be highly suspect of it!
Because there's only one farking reason you don't want to go over. WTF..... JFC.
4. So is this absolute proof you can't get an STD from hands only action?

5.
Not really a question but I feel like I should put it out there I'm just a very very curious curious curious person about stuff it doesn't matter what it's about I can come up with tons of questions this is actually why teachers don't like me

I just realized my bosses (the women in the family) are some of those tourists. My boss, her mom and the mom's two sisters plus a niece flew to Florida to celebrate one of the sisters' 70th birthday. All the photos they have posted on FB the last couple of days has been them having fun without masks. My job is seasonal so I'm glad I still have a month to go before I go back to the plant. Whatever they bring back will have already reared its ugly head.

I was just there yesterday. They had up their legally obligated signs but no one was wearing masks, sort of. Employees sorta did, sometimes. Everything else is saying "hey, I'm vaccinated, fark this".

There was no enforcement. Nobody cared.

I saw graffiti on an overpass on the 405 that said arrest newsome. This is a lesson on mismanagement.

We need the president to declare martial law and lock down the country.  Hard.  With the military enforcing the lockdown.  And have Biden clear the military to use lethal force.  Nuke cities that won't comply.

No, a voluntary mask up rule won't work.  We have 70 million insurrectionists working for Putin and are willing to use their own bodies as bioterrorism weapons factories and deployment platforms.

I don't know why there isn't more public service announcements on T.V.
Why can't the "people in charge" make some flashy commercials, with a nice jingle sung by an attractive celebrity educating the public on the situation. Hell, pay for the spot, then they have to play it.

Things like:
Showing how and why to wear a mask properly.
How the virus spreads/infects/kills.
What a virus is.
etc...
Make them like the old schoolhouse rock videos, and people will watch.

....maybe something will stick.

....maybe....

I'm in a little red town in a big blue state and we had near total mask compliance during the first rounds. Then nearly everyone unmasked after the CDC said so, even the folks in known antivaxxer families, unfortunately. In the past week or so, though, I have noticed a comeback in mask wearing. I'd say we're back to maybe 40% masking.

Predictably, the folks masking are the vaccinated people, and the antivaxxers are bare faced.

Pretty much this... the problem is Republicans. Fixing it requires those who aren't Republicans to do something a bit more strong then words and pearl clutching. Sometimes the bully needs a shiner on the eye to clean up their act good. Till that happens expect the USA to be a cesspool of right wing disease carriers crying hoax, microchip vaccines, and whatever else they come up with. I miss my old doctor from when I was a kid. Act like they do for vaccinations and he'd have just grabbed their arm and jammed the vaccine shot in while telling you to come back (not asking) in however many weeks for the booster. Best part was he looked like this guy..

Problem is, it appears once people take the mask off, they will never put it back on again, under any circumstances. I'm in central Ohio, a geographic area containing 3 million people. Up until April, EVERYBODY wore a mask, I never saw any that didn't. But in the past 2 months, I haven't seen any masks on anyone, anywhere.

I lived in Florida, specifically South Florida for 30 years. A colossal crap hole. I moved away about 3 years before covid hit, and I am so glad I did. People are awful down there. You should see them after a hurricane. I could only imagine that covid would be 10x worse. I live in Colorado now. We have a governor who took covid serious, we have people who, for the most part, act like adults and took covid seriously also.

Went to Florida using my in laws condo. Everything people describe here is pretty accurate. we pretty much stayed in and went to beach but even that was screwy because of red tide. The Gulf will pretty much be a cess pool in the summer from here on out.

We were going to go to Disney Hollywood Star Wars, but the traffic was so bad we turned back. Daughter said "I'd like to go, but this all looks kind of gross."  And of course she's right. Central Florida is one of the ugliest, most ridiculously overbuilt regions in America. They simply don't give a shiat that the whole environment down there is screwed up.

It will be better if the ocean rises and takes the whole state away.

In my neck of the woods in Minnesota there is very little mask wearing anymore, but we also have pretty high vaccination numbers. I wouldn't be thrilled about wearing a mask again but certainly would if need be.

Like rational and intelligent people (ie, not Republicans) already knew, telling people "If you're vaccinated, you don't have to wear a mask" was farking stupid and just basically told everyone who wasn't already vaccinated not to bother either getting vaccinated or wearing a mask. I assume most of the people I've seen wearing a mask (in OKC) are people who are immune compromised in some way (most seem to be older people) or those who live with/care for immune-compromised people. Some have been families (ie, parents and kids, all wearing masks, but those are a very small percentage). We all know now -- because they've told us, over and over again -- that Republicans don't give a fark about anybody but themselves and have no interest in helping end this bullshiat. We had that chance, with vaccination, but they shiat all over it. I just hope most of the people dying now are them. They need to die faster. Apparently, in a month or so, they will. Die faster, that is, and they deserve no sympathy. None at all.

For the most part, anti-vaccination assholes heard "no masks" and just decided that it's all over, no need to worry about the 'rona, and most states and cities, especially in the shiathole parts of the country (ie, the Republican parts), were happy to go along with that. Great jerb, assholes.

This. In Oklahoma, including OKC, where I am, almost nobody wears one anywhere, including in most stores and restaurants. Are the maskless employees in the stores and restaurants all vaccinated? I have no goddam idea. Most of them (but not all of them) are fairly young, so ... who knows?

Even the fully vaccinated rate for Oklahoma County (53%) isn't much of a comfort. For one, that's nowhere near "herd immunity" levels. Second, people from other counties go in and out of OKC every day for numerous reasons. Work, shopping, entertainment (bars and concert venues and places like that). There's no way to tell who's vaccinated or not, so the safe assumption is that at least 50% aren't. And probably have no plans to be.

I don't feel smug, just contempt. Contempt for Republicans, in particular. They are deeply stupid and it's because of them that this got as bad as it was here and has gone on as long as it has. We could have taken care of this shiat with vaccines. But Republicans farked us on that.  Vaccination gave us a chance to get ahead of it, to the extent that that's possible. But Republicans shiat all over that chance and some people expect us to be nice about that, to understand their "vaccine hesitancy." What a load of horseshiat.

At least this time, most of the dying appear to be people who SHOULD be dying. The more Republicans who die of the 'rona, the better off our country will be in the long run. So commence dying, assholes.
