This is totally gonna come back to the guy that found him. The guy probably dropped dead and the guy that found him got cute with the magic marker to look like a hero,

I'm guessing a quiet revenge story. He was probably killed by a girl who he victimized decades ago. She finally got him.

It really should have touched off the conversation people are having now about "Free Britney"

But, perhaps it went too far, and so made it hard(er) to talk about.

My heart stopped for a minute before I saw the headline source in Australia.

A family friend disappeared five days ago, an 80-year-old man with the first stages of Alzheimer's who left his home using a walker. They found his body today, he'd tumbled into a ditch on a construction site. They called in the SVU to tell his family, because he was considered a special victim.

Lizbet was in a conservatorship. After the stuff she did to her father, she was judged incompetent. Her guardian at the start of TGWTDT was a decent guy (if I remember right) but he dies. New guy takes over, tells her that he owns her now; if she wants to keep working, living on her own, everything, then she would have to service him. So she reacts in a way that fits the rest of the novel.

This.

Law & Order--even the original series--has never been mindless murder porn. It's just entertaining TV that occasionally touches on a subject of importance, like racism, homophobia, police brutality, etc.

And you know what? SVU has made a lot of people more secure in coming out about their trauma. Reportedly, Mariska Hargitay hears from real-world victims who say she and the show helped them disclose the crimes they suffered.

Oh no!!! We feel different things about a fictional semen-based tv series!!!

We should totally tell each other to "fark off" because we don't agree on a meaningless bit of pop culture.

Friend, relax, go get high, and watch some SVU, they seem to be doing just fine without me.

And then go relax again.
Have a great night.

I don't know about that dude call me murder porn you're basically saying people enjoy watching the suffering.
And I've never watched for the suffering I've watched for the legal back and forth and the commentary on the justice system.

Watch it turn into a mistaken identity case. Someone really did intend to kill and label someone else who was believed to have been a child molester --- but the first someone killed the wrong guy. And some poor 80-year-old man dies thinking "WTF?!?!"

That's very sad.  I hope he didn't suffer in the ditch.  My dad had Alzheimer's and he got lost a few times and it was terrifying for us.
One time I didn't know he was gone.  I went downstairs and he was just standing in my kitchen.  How long had he been there?  No one knows.  He told me he "got lost a lot" getting there because "all streets look the same." I called my mom and said "daddy's in my kitchen, he says he walked here, I'm bringing him home." She was working in the yard and didn't know he was gone.  Alzheimer's people are slippery. Another time cops found him, another time he made his way home by himself.

I always considered it a wildly subversive morality tale in which even casual contact with the police ruins lives.  The moral of the story?  Don't talk to the police for any reason, ever.

This is 100% true. I am acquainted with someone who works (actually I think "worked," now) for her on this very effort. Hargitay works with the below charity, amongst others, for victims of sexual abuse, something she started doing directly as a result of the feedback she got from the show:
https://www.joyfulheartfoundation.org/about-us/founders-corner/more-about-mariska

I'm not a shill for her (or for my acquaintance, who does not work for the above charity), but I have listened to her enough to know that it has become a driver in her life. I have no idea who she is as a person, but she takes "raising awareness" and "recovery" seriously.
