I'd also like to rem one of Fark's all time great headlines: "It was Mrs Woods, in the driveway, with a five iron" or something similar. (Feel free to correct me)

Are these the same people that appeared on one of Gordon Ramsay's shows and the husband/owner dressed up like Sherlock Holmes and their take for the whole night when they ran these things was like $200?

Can I just do it with Col Mustard and Miss Scarlet with rope in the conservatory?

I remember that episode.  What a bunch of loons.  It was Hotel Hell, IIRC.

If I were going to own a castle, I'd rather have a hunting lodge for rich weirdos.

/didn't we pass a castle a few miles up the road?
//castles don't have phones

That movie was really a testament to the power of double-sided tape, wasn't it.

I was about to extol the virtues of Leslie Ann Warren. I see you have that covered.

Or in San Francisco you could buy one of these for between 1.3 and 1.4 million.

The actual listing. And it's a terrace house, so you only own a bit of it and share the gardens with the other cottages.

As it turns out, Mrs Capricorn and I are closing on a 1869 Victorian on Friday. It's an Italianate, center hall design with a room in each corner on the first and second floors. I joked that we'll be living on a Clue board, but we lack a conservatory and billiard room. Also I don't think there was an option of having Professor Plum drown Colonel Mustard in the WC.

The spiral in the kitchen indicates the narrow winder staircase up to the servant's quarters.

Absolutely brilliant. Everyone, especially Curry, chewing scenery like it was a fine steak.

Doesn't it lead directly to the dining room fireplace?

Why is the dining room as far away from the kitchen as possible? Usually they are next to each other. Your food will be cold by the time it gets to the table.
The lounge and dining room should be swapped. That way you get the fireplace in the lounge where everyone can sit around the fire, not burning the backs of everyone sitting at the dining table with their back to the fire.

Formal side right, family side left. No servant/kitchen sounds while dining. Plus, you slide open the pocket doors after dinner and ask, "Shall we retire to the library?" Then you open the globe/drinks trolley.

Carter Pewterschmidt: the fireplace in the lounge

Oh.. and there's a fireplace in all the rooms except the kitchen, which has a wood-burning stove. The real estate agent only drew in the two... dunno why.

$200 for a couple of hours of cosplay and entertainment is NOT that bad...

A picture of the house in question really wouldn't have hurt.
