Which was his clever plan all along. Of course, putting folks on the list that gave tours to the seditious asshats was maybe a little on the nose, and it's going to be interesting when the 1/6 Committee then pulls those records, and asks those Distinguished Gentlemen to appear before their peers.

At this point, he needs to be sizing up the boxes for the folks he's going to have to slide under the bus.

And the plan is revealed.

Spike the list with obvious loons, then cry foul when they are rejected. From then on all they will do is cry FOUL NO DERPUBLICANS ON THE COMMISSION DERP.

It's what they wanted. Now they can attack EVERYTHING the commission does and EVERYTHING they conclude as a partisan witch hunt.

The truth is against them, so this is the only play they can make.

It's the GQP way. CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT, truth and honor are for LOSERS.

Don't really care what they wanted. They were going to be crap anyway, so the commission's better off without 'em.

Pelosi should offer another spot to Kinzinger and 3 other Republicans that didn't vote to overturn the election (preferably who also voted yes on the 2nd impeachment assuming there are 3 that fit that particular bill).

This is McCarthy's battle to lose. He's on the precipice of finding the leadership of antifa guilty and dissolving their organization permanently, and now he's squandering his opportunity.

Cool figured he would do that once she immediately rejected two of the five. I'm not sure how he plans on doing his own investigation without any power at all.

Someone should remind these jerkoffs that they had the opportunity to have a bipartisan commission with subpoena power, but rejected that.

Should be a short investigation

Washington (CNN)-In an expletive-laced phone call with House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy while the US Capitol was under attack, then-President Donald Trump said the rioters cared more about the election results than McCarthy did.

"Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are," Trump said, according to lawmakers who were briefed on the call afterward by McCarthy.

McCarthy insisted that the rioters were Trump's supporters and begged Trump to call them off.

Trump's comment set off what Republican lawmakers familiar with the call described as a shouting match between the two men. A furious McCarthy told the then-President the rioters were breaking into his office through the windows, and asked Trump, "Who the f--k do you think you are talking to?" according to a Republican lawmaker familiar with the call.

The newly revealed details of the call, described to CNN by multiple Republicans briefed on it, provide critical insight into the President's state of mind as rioters were overrunning the Capitol. The existence of the call and some of its details were first reported by Punchbowl News and discussed publicly by McCarthy.

Maybe ask Cheney to recommend some republicans who are more inclined to want the real facts. She probably knows a number of them who secretly hate the circus and don't make a practice out of being clowns on TV.

FTFA: Pelosi said she asked McCarthy to choose two other members, but instead, McCarthy pulled all five. Pelosi has the authority to select Republicans to serve on the committee, if those Republicans agree to serve.

Depending on what she does here, could help fracture the GQP a little. Can she find any GOP'ers that aren't loud mouthed idiots, but at the same time carry some weight in the party?

Pretty hard to do, since the party has been watered down to used car salesmen and kamikaze slider waitresses.

I wouldn't say nobody. I think at least a few members of the military that denied the request to send in the national guard will appear if subpoenaed. Whether or not they testify truthfully is a different matter.

I am absolutely blown away that Republicans are so universally willing to bow down before someone they know for a fact tried to sic his orcs on and have them killed.

They are literally more afraid of Trump and his supporters than they are of death.  That is some unfathomable power he had.

That he still has, even as a failed president.

Pelosi has played her hand perfectly so far.

4 votes to try and make it bipartisan. OK, fine, we'll do it ourselves. But you're still welcome at the table... as long as you don't name idiots. Gym Jordan? No.

Sure, the OANNists aren't going to like it, but they never were.

Well, there's Liz Cheney, which gives the Democrats the cover of "bipartisanship" while also installing a Republican who hates most of the current GOP leadership. So that could be interesting.

Liz Cheney is still a f*cking monster who deserves to be immolated and made an example of, though.

Twice. That's twice now. First time was the usual bipartisan thing, got kicked back, went to 'Dems can stack the whole thing if they choose', but chose not to, and then GQP pulls away again.

They'll scream partisan witch hunt, and normally would get called out... but they'll all be on Fox News and NewsMax where it's perfectly safe.

"House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy says he will pull all five of his picks to serve on the select committee investigating the January 6 assault on the Capitol, if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn't rescind her rejection of two of his recommendations, Congressmen Jim Jordan and Jim Banks."

There go the conservatives, threatening us with a good time again.

Jordan cant serve on this committee, as it represents a conflict of interest, seeing he'll soon be found guilty of the committees findings!

I saw the press conference. McCarthy spent A LOT ot time dinging Pelosi about her role in denying the National Guard and wants to know who made the decision and how it happened. I don't think he is going to like the answer.

Someone asked about his phone call. He blabbed something that made no sense and smoke bombed real fast when the questions started to get real.

The rest just whined in loud voices.

Honestly, since KMic pulled all his selections and reneged on the whole thing, I hope Pelosi offers the same spot to the 3 she didn't refuse, Kinzinger and Meijer (or Newhouse/Upton/Katko). Stack the team with non-insurrectionists, and let the Republicans who aren't Trumpists shine. Because the few sane ones left should be highlighted.

/Still evil, but not Trump evil

FYI the GQP rejected the bi-partisan commission, where they would have gotten everything they wanted, including veto power on witnesses.  They just do not want an investigation at all, but cannot find the courage to tell anyone the truth, since they are guilty of aiding the insurrection

Pelosi only rejected 2 of McCarty's picks, and as compromise recommend 3 others.  Gym Jordan is a possible witness and both voted against vote certification.  They are only there to be political showboaters

Fark the anti-government GQP
