(Deseret News)   Is the COVID-19 vaccine riskier than the coronavirus? What a new poll suggests. Wait, opinions get to dictate that kind of thing? That said, the comments section backs up the article nice and horrifically   (deseret.com) divider line

How many people have died of the 'Rona?

How many have died because of the vaccine?

Seems like pretty simple math.

Nobody died of Covid, they all died for heart failure or some such.  Just like my dad didn't die of cancer, just of his heart stopping.  Pancreatic cancer is harmless I tell you.

Every vaccinated person should get a dart gun and as many doses of the vaccine as they can carry.

That's what everyone is saying here in Japan too. "The side effects just aren't worth it. I'll just not catch corona. I haven't caught it yet."

And then the other day there was "outrage" when some doctors posted a TikTok video where they danced next to a graphic of vaccination rates for all the prefectures. They were accused of trolling the unvaccinated. If you see some doctors dancing next to data and feel trolled, maybe you realize you're being an asshat.

Okay, SEVERAL HUNDRED MILLION DOSES IN ARMS around the world at this point, can we stop calling it experimental, yet? Also, Deaths from the 'rona vs deaths from the vaxx?  Also also, way the hell better 5G reception! Win, win, win!! Get shot, kids!! (with the vaccine, modmins)

If either shot gets full approval this year, I wonder if we'll see insurance company policy updates including that they will not cover any COVID illness costs unless vaccination is shown.

Followed by no change in vaccination rates in the US, but a crapload of stories next year about families going broke from 200-300,000 dollar hospital bills

I wouldn't worry about Utah politics, in terms of vaccines, anyway.  At least the Republican governor there has been the opposite of Tennessee's GOP.

At this point, this whole covid misinformation crap in the U.S is an attempt to have the death toll under Biden higher than it was under Trump. And they are doing a good job. They don't even care if most of the dead are their own base

When nobody is vaccinated, the risk of the vaccine is less than CoVid.
When 99.999% of the population is vaccinated, the risk of the vaccine is higher.
There's a crucial cross-over point where it becomes more risky to take the vaccine.  IMHO, its probably somewhere around 99%.

People fall into three groups: A) Those who take the vaccine to help their community reach herd immunity; B) those who don't because they're morons; and C) those who are taking an informed risk that they won't catch it and die before the rest of their society reaches herd immunity for them (eg they're sociopaths).

The challenge is distinguishing the morons from the sociopaths.

Oh you got to post that

I read the comments. You shouldn't ever read the comments. There is a Typhoid Mary in there pounding on the 99% survival rate, oblivious to the fact that if everyone got vaccinated, wore masks, and kept their distance when the experts in medicine told them to, we wouldn't have to still be worrying about survival rates. And the 625,000 that died from it already would like to thank them for their selfishness.

Too many people suck at risk determination.  They give way too much weight to sensational and conspiratorial fears.  This is just another example.

Just an observation; I just bounced through SLC earlier today and the people seemed to be taking things more seriously there than when I left LAX.

It's not politics.
