You know, we can hear you.

It's not going to work on them or us. They want 100% crazy full time. Everyone else wants sanity.

This is literally how every moderate has ever run a campaign. Except possibly Joe Manchin.

And there will be enough New Jersey dumbasses to fall for it and get the guy elected.

Wiggle room?  Know what happens when you give these jagoff "wiggle room" if they win?  They end up wiggling their middle fingers at you.

See Kyrsten Sinema as a prime example.

To be fair the tactic has worked well for democrats running more liberal then voting conservative. Then whining that you have to vote for them again because they are less conservative than the other guy.

"Ciattarelli has tried to walk this tightrope since launching his underdog campaign for governor in early 2020. It's only gotten more challenging since he won the Republican primary last month after two candidates who ran to his right as Donald Trump acolytes split the MAGA vote."

Now the question is does MAGA vote sit out or still vote for R?

Unlike Sinema, this guy is running as a Republican.

I think the biggest trick right-wingers pulled was calling themselves "conservative" and getting people to repeat the lie.

Yeah, to me it doesn't sound like he's 'pretending' anything. What he's telling Republican voters is that they need to help him or they will forfeit the election, simple as that. What the MAGA voters do is up to them, but if they don't give him the wiggle room he wants then they can all be losers together.

It's pretty obvious, right?

They figured it would sound bad if they called themselves the fascist party.  It might give Dems an easy election every time.

The Democratic guy in VA needs to plaster the DMV with TV ads, where there is plenty of indication, in giant print, that the GOP guy is a hard-right Republican who's endorsed by Trump and was caught on video saying he has to keep quiet about abortion now, but when he gets in he's gonna ban it.

I wouldn't trust a guy with the name Ciattarelli from New Jersey to properly prepare a side dish of lemon caper linguine.

Does this mean all the lessons from Pastor Troy were totally unnecessary? /jk

Progressives: "Well, here's hoping." *votes*
Candidate: "JKLOL, I'm totally a conservative."
Progressives: "WTF???"
Moderates: "Would you rather we had a Republican? Stupid progressives."
Progressives: "... no? We want the candidate we elected to do what they said they were going to instead of stabbing us in the back."
Moderates: "Progressives have no idea how politics work. Do you want four more years of Trump?"

Meanwhile, if a conservative candidate swung progressive in office, moderates would be calling for their head. They see nothing inconsistent about this, somehow.

Using the word 'pretend' in the headline makes it sound like he's being sneaky or lying about something, but he's not. He's spelling it all out.

The ironic thing to me is that by this point in time everyone should know that winning is the only thing Republicans care about. They don't care about saving lives, or the law, or the country's future. They just want to win. So what this guy is saying actually goes without saying. I guess there is this perpetually clueless clump of voters out there who find this surprising.

No, it's never happened. Hence the "if" in that statement. Funny how candidates never swing to the left, only to the right.

More that when they swing to the left, the Rose Twitter never recognizes it.

I was absolutely assured on Fark that if Joe Biden was elected he'd be functionally indistinguishable from Trump. Hasn't turned out that way.

The Irish and Italians are a great example of how even the most marginalized immigrant groups can integrate and thrive and eventually become assholes to other immigrant groups.
God bless the USA.

That's not the deal, dude -- the only reason they vote for you is because of the emotional comfort all the Mean Scrooge rhetoric delivers.

Otherwise they could just vote for the Democratic candidate with the actual ideas, programs and solutions to problems.

Behold: the "moderate Republican," who believes the sole societal contribution of queer and disabled people is...sodomy.

But like racism, virulent homophobic bigotry is just never a deal-killer for you Republican voters, is it? Treating your neighbors with decency and respect? Never.

Love? Utterly out of the question.

You just convince yourselves that, well "God hate f@gs!" at the same time you believe you really have nothing in common with Westboro Baptists theology, despite the fact you've adopted their extremism in its entirety.

When you vote for Republicans you prove yourself precisely this morally bankrupt and contemptuous of everything good and decent your messiah ever stood for.

Republicans make such a mockery of Christianity, every single day, you'd almost imagine Christians would find it upsetting to the point they'd want to distance themselves from it instead of finding more ways to incorporate into it.

I just don't get this 'sodomy' thing.  Straight people have oral sex.  Straight men love the butt.  So, that means it's not 'what' they're doing, it's 'who' they're doing it with.

Not to mention all the known pervy stuff these people have done: Trump, Stone, Manafort, Human Thumb, and consultant Dick Morris.  Just to name a few.
