I haven't had sex in over two decades. Haven't hada job in three years. I can go without either the rest of my life and not give a rip.

Hooker yourself out to solve both problems.

Man, for the last few weeks it's been nothing but how easy it is to get a job and today, this?

Terrible advice for huge national corporations or government. They don't run all hiring through one person.

Oh cool! I'd been waiting for the article that says this even though every business is looking for anybody to come work for them it's the people who are job searching who "reek of desperation".

Okay sure.

I wish my sex life was like my job hunt. I am not even looking for a job and it is being thrown at me, open up my emails and there are at least two offers. Love life, not so hot as that.

This article reeks of desperation.

TFA didn't say "people who look for a job reek of desperation".

It said "people who look for a job and do XYZ can reek of desperation". And yes, if I were a hiring manager and I saw someone applying for three job openings, I'd hold it against the person if I had to make a call between two semi-equal people.

I've been with the same employer for 20 years.  I almost never do anything and haven't been getting anywhere for many years. Maybe 15 minutes of excitement every few months.  So, yeah, checks out.

Would YOU hire the guy (Mr. Suit, Starbucks, Briefcase Too Small To Actually Hold Anything, and No Socks) in the picture?  I sure as hell wouldn't.

Well this is super-convincing and I don't at all feel that you're compensating for the lack of either in posting it.

Being able to live without either or both is normal. But let's not pretend that good work, fulfilling relationships, and a fun sex life aren't big enhancements to daily living.

I'd go way bigger with the article and say it's a good idea to never use your social media to biatch & moan & project negativity about what's missing from your life, nor to use it as some sort of personal confessional or diary.

We've all got a couple people in our feeds who do exactly that and we all see exactly how cringe-ey it is.

The other big no-no, and one I've pointed out to my daughters as a negative example, is the one female friend who feels the need to post teasingly-topless photos every month or two. Don't know if others have this type in their lives, but it's just painfully obvious how she needs & wants the attention. She's become a low-key object of derision for it; nobody brings it up or comments on the photos, but everyone eyerolls & laughs about it in person together. Which I'm certain isn't what she's looking for with it.

If you are stupid enough to need the advice in the article, I'm not sure you can read the article.

Fair; no socks is really the dealbreaker there for me.

Everyone is hiring out where I am in fly over land. We recently posted a professional position that would normally draw a couple hundred applicants. We got two - and sent offers to both of them.

Every single employer here in Indy:

"Nobody's applying for our openings! Nobody wants to work!!!"

"Have you tried offering more money and/or benefits?"

**crickets**

OFFER MORE.

Maybe people don't want to work in dead-end jobs as servants.  Maybe people don't want to make sandwiches for you, and bring your car around, or groom your farking dog.  Maybe people don't want to be grunts for a bunch of spoiled consumers who won't get out of their chairs to feed themselves, unless you bring it to them.

Why in the world do you idiots think that anyone wants to be degraded like that, no matter what the pay?

Is this just the attitude you develop because you're so used to sucking any dick you have to, as long as you make money?

I have higher standards than that.

I mean, I'd love to not have a job too, but not all of us were born into a world of prosperity, dude.

Why is applying for 3 jobs you're qualified for bad? There shouldn't be anything inherently wrong with that. Why forego an opportunity? That's like a college declining to accept someone because they applied to too many other schools--what difference does it make?

Because people don't generally switch colleges, but people do switch jobs.

If someone applies to 3 different positions I am almost certain he does it just to get a job for now and will be gone the second something else comes along. The person applying to just one position is more likely to want that specific position.

Yes, yes, variations exist and maybe it is the bestest employee ever who farts rainbows and shiat, but I would always bet on the person applying for 3 different positions to be gone sooner than the person applying for just the one.
