Yeah. This is real. And it really, really sucks. In a lot of different ways.

Glad I got to experience and share this ecosystem with others sometimes daily. It's too late now to save this, although we built moorings and encouraged safe viewing, right down to the sunblock we used. The water got hot and acidic and the world moved on.

And really, no one but a handful of people ever felt attached. These things were massive and ancient. But We never could get our big reef off limits to commercial fishermen. No one cared enough to pass law. No one has the will or funding to enforce it. And as TFA pointed out, it was doomed anyway. I haven't been out to check on what's left this year because we can't work with COVID. We're kinda stuck for the moment

I'm relieved I don't have to live too much further into this future.

Sorry for the kids today. The world is shiattier and it's going to get worse as you grow up. What's going to be left are humans and (some of the) stuff humans eat. Until that fails too.

Happy Wednesday.
Whatever.

Wondering why the sky was so hazy yesterday on my commute home then realizing "Oh yeah, the planet is on fire, I forgot" kind of put a damper on what was a relatively good day.
