Too funny. How do get a neocon to stop doing something?  Say it's good for them.

It doesn't matter. All the "mah freedums" and "gubmint overreech" stuff is bullsh*t. They don't actually believe that.

They are contrarians because people smarter than them have suggested they do something and they're not gonna listen to them with their book-lurnin' dagnabbit.

They all desperately want to think that THEY know the real truth; they learned about it on Facebook after all. So, now that they have established that position, they can't go back, at least not publicly. They're dug in like ticks, and they'll rationalize that stupid-ass position using any ready-made slogan that Fox News, Mo Brooks, or any other jag arguing in bad faith can provide.

Let's see how dug in they are when they get fired from their jobs for refusing the vaccine.

They don't actually give a shiat about what the founding fathers think.  It's all wrapped up in the patriotic bullshiat.  Just like the Bible they pick and choose what they like, what they ignore, or what they're going to reinterpret to their own worldview.

None of them actually give a shiat.  You could point out how wrong they are with writings directly from the Founding fathers and they'd just call you a stupid lib and go out and preach about how important the founding fathers "vision" is.

Jesus could float down from the heavens and tell them to get vaccinated and they'd call him a godless commie.

Even the Puritans were pro-vaccine. Look at Reverend Cotton Mather and his work in inoculation for smallpox.

John Adams purposefully infected himself with live virus to acquire immunity. They used awl sized needles to jab infected material repeatedly into his arm. He was laid up and feverish for weeks and still wrote his wife every day batshiat crazy letters that Jim Morrison wishes he could have invented.

If you won't get a vaccination with a safe dead virus you're an unamerican pussy.

https://doctorzebra.com/prez/z_x02smallpox_g.htm

Adams followed the preparatory regimen of Adam Thompson MD. The future president's treatment began with a "vomit," followed by a strong cathartic. The prescribed diet was bread, milk, pudding, and rice. Adams describes the inoculation procedure itself:

Dr. Perkins demanded my left arm and Dr. Warren my brother's. They took their Launcetts and with their Points divided the skin about a Quarter of an inch and just suffering the blood to appear, buried a thread (infected) about a Quarter of an inch long in the Channell. A little lint was then laid over the scratch and a Piece of Ragg pressed on, and then a Bandage bound over all, and I was bid go where and do what I pleased. The doctors left us red and black to take Night and Morning, and ordered my Brother, larger Doses than me, on Account of the Differences in our Constitutions.
Adams and 9 other patients were confined to the hospital for 3 weeks. Adams suffered headaches, backaches, kneeaches, gagging fever, and eruption of pock marks. He wrote to his wife:

Do not conclude from any Thing I have written that I think Inoculation a light matter -- A long and total abstinence from everything in Nature that has any Taste; two long heavy Vomits, one heavy Cathartick, four and twenty Mercurial and Antimonial Pills, and, Three weeks of Close Confinement to an House, are, according to my Estimation, no small matters.
It was not until 1775 that Abigail had herself and her children inoculated. After three weeks, son Charles Francis (who grew to renown as a statesman and historian) developed a pox illness and was unconscious and delirious for 48 hours

That's why I used leeches and heroin after my second covid shot.

The "Founding Fathers" also agreed that all men are created equal, except if you were a First Nations person, or an enslaved person, or a woman. So I'm not sure if I would hold up them up as some kind of guiding light in a discussion with MAGAs.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: The Founding Fathers couldn't have imagined the bullshiat factories their descendents would make a couple hundred years later.

You, dear, have never looked at English political screeds.  Those farkers got up early in the morning batshiat insane and worked all day to build up more insanity.  Gulliver's Travels is a weird little travelogue of fantasy to us, but it was all about skewering various political factions of its day - the freaky island inhabitants were just to avoid defamation charges. And he was probably one of the most restained of the political writers. Right up until they decided to split, the vast majority of Founding Fathers considered themselves Englishmen living in America.  They did all they could to emulate the English to the best of their abilities, including reading whatever political bullfarkery that made it across the Atlantic.  Several colonies had lobbyists in London to try and get stuck into Parliamentary politics, and hungrily awaited their letters back home to bask in the fever-swamp of Westminster.*  They were well-acquainted with brazen bullshiat as political discourse.  Newspapers were openly partisan and skewed stories hard to make events match their particular viewpoint, facts be damned.  And political attacks after independence were no different.  Jefferson was castigated for consorting with his slave women during campaigns - and slung mud right back.  The Founding Fathers were not porcelain saints, too pure for this world.  They were psychotic political savages, tearing out throats and baying at the moon for the blood of anyone who got in their way.  In all honesty, they would think that Trump as too needlessly constrained in his tweets - that he needed to be more vicious and more blatantly pandering if he wanted to be a real politician.

* Not politics related, but there is a simply hilarious letter Washington wrote to his tailor in London upon finding out from a returning lobbyist that Washington's clothes were not haute couture.  Georgie went off like a fancy-lad twink on PCP.  Jut blisteringly mad his cuffs were not the latest fashion and promising dire punishments if this was not rectified.  So, before you put him on that pedestal of grim austerity, realize the Father of Our Country was a foot-stomping, high-strung clothes horse more in line with Kanye than anything else.

We went to war over a 3% sugar tax that was dropped from 6% - but that had more vigorous enforcement.  We were complaining about not being allowed to be tax cheats any more.

But when this first happened in January 2020 people were making fun of China for doing this.

One thing is certain: a majority of humans here would rather go extinct than do anything China (or really any other country) does, even if they're just copying our own cdc manuals.

Is that actually surprising?

We like to romanticize our country, and most of my favorite Americans are immigrants, but there's a culture issue when the majority of the people in your country are made of the most disasstisfied/contentious/extreme/corrupt people from other countries over decades.

That's the real secret to why other countries need us around; we're a perfect holding tank for all the human species most extreme dissidents!

Back in those days, if a ship was found to have someone with smallpox on board, the ship would be burned to the waterline with all cargo aboard.  If the crew were lucky, they might just be removed and quarantined first.

We can still respect the work done by the founding fathers while acknowledging that we've since evolved past outdated ideas like slavery and public health.
