I dunno, it might've happened, but it's like claiming you have a Canadian girlfriend who dumped you for a richer and better-looking guy.

Even if it were implausibly true, why would you talk about that to a reporter? That's embarrassing.

So he's a lying sack of shiat who sells canned IPA swill and is upset he can't pack 100 unvaccinated assholes onto his backyard patio to eat overpriced burgers and other bar crap served by underpaid waitstaff. And his great idea for addressing those issues is to contact a meritless tabloid for some free advertising masquerading as red bait for the very same MAGAt assholes he apparently wants to sell his beer to.

Thoughts and prayers, jackass.

He noted that he has been working seven days a week in his normal role managing the business - which also helping to prepare lunch and dinner so his chef can take days off.

Oh, you mean like...working your ass off the way people do when they own their own business? Cry me a river, boo hoo.

They'd say that to a reporter to promote the "working class people are lazy and shiftless and we need to stop supporting them to force them to come back to work for minimal pay while I tell them that if they misbehave, I'll fire them and they'll be homeless" theme.

Considering you can't collect unemployment unless you've both paid into it and been laid off, yeah.

Maybe if the "competitive pay" was competing with a living wage instead of competing with bottle refunds workers wouldn't be so hard to find.

Have you tried paying a competitive wage in today's market, offering benefits and job perks?

No?  Oh... Well then go fark yourself 😘

You cannot quit your job and collect unemployment.  You are not eligible.  This is a made-up story.

Plus, if I have to cut into my personal profits to pay my wage slaves an almost living wage, then the pandemic will have affected me financially!  Me!  I'm a captain of industry!  That kind of peon shiat doesn't happen to us!  We make money during catastrophes!  Right now people should be so starving they'll work for half as much as they used to, but the Socialists gave away all the money that should have gone into another round of tax cuts!  Rich farks need to rise up and take back our country!

Interesting, wonder why he didn't reference the pay ranges being offered-it's almost like he's paying less than unemployment benefits for people working more than full time hours in a place that sucks so much that they have a huge vacancy... I wonder why that is.

Bet this douche has taken out PPP loans as well and will probably show up being busted for improper use.

That's not how unemployment works in the US, and anyone who has ever looked at the "These are your rights as an employee" posters businesses are supposed to hang in plain view would know that their ability to claim UI is entirely contingent on whether or not their boss is willing to grant them access to it.

Yeah, that's not how unemployment works.

But hey if that's real and the person finds out that they can't get unemployment, no worries, restaurant kitchen jobs aren't hard to find right now and even if they were wait 5 minutes and one will open up

If this place is in Bolton landing, that's about 1:40 from the capital district. Glens Falls is the closest "big" city, 35mins away. Maybe he also can't find workers because this place is out in the sticks.

I live in a very wealthy suburb of Seattle and the 7-11 down the road from us has been closed since May. I went down there to grab something back then and there was a woman out front telling people they were closed because they had no staff. They had a big banner across the front of the store "$200.00 Hiring Bonus!" Place is still closed. Have you ever seen a closed 7-11? I never have.

Because they think paying slave wages is the mark of a smart businessperson. Oh and to totes stick it to the durty liberals. Not only that it's deflection you're a shiatty boss who can't get employees because you're a nightmare to work for overall.

So since this is for a "tap room" I imagine quite a few serving and other tipped staff.  So $3/hr instead of $2/hr?

I feel like if you have the capacity to make a entirely new line of product (or the same product with brand new packaging), then you aren't really hurting for help, nor are you hurting for the revenue to adequately pay for that help.

It doesn't take much to reach maximum UI threshold in most states because most states pay out less per hour than the federal minimum wage.

So yeah, if you can't compete with unemployment it is specifically because you're trying to exploit the desperation created by poverty.

Since the actual pay was not included in the ad, I doubt it was a competitive wage.

The whining about there being too much work for current staff to handle was a nice touch too. If I were a current employee I'd be preparing a barrel to bend this guy over.

I've seen a 7-11 go out of business.  It was on a shiatty road in a fairly shiatty town in upper PG County in Maryland, so it had a lot stacked against it.  A laundromat went in the vacant space a little while after.

I agree with you 100%, but didn't Biden enact a policy where you could quit and collect unemployment if your employer wasn't following COVID protocols or you felt unsafe at your job? I seem to vaguely remember something like that. Although, I'm sure that's expired now if it was ever a thing in the first place.

If you can't compete with the table scraps the government deigns to slide people's way, you don't deserve to be in business.
