Fear the prequels, District 1-8.

Awesome flick. And the star was in Hardcore Henry.

I'm afraid the window of opportunity for this sequel has closed.
No one remembers what this is or when it came out.
Please stand behind Avatar 2 so you can receive your lumps.

But you're blek!

/Yes I know it's the wrong South Africa movie reference but I still love it.

I don't think that it's probable that there is any way to continue Wikus Van Der Meer's story in a way that doesn't subtract from the power or ruin the ending of the original movie... but I DO know that if there IS, the guy who decided that Die Antwoord are viable movie stars isn't the man to tackle it.

"CHEPPY, CHEPPY, CHEPPY.., SAY 'RRRRRET!' SAY 'CARRRRRR!' "

Cool - guess he finally got over the shame of Elysium.

For what, the fourth or fifth time?

2021-07-20 2:50:22 PM
That movie needed subtitles. Sewth Ifrikin incomprehensible main character.

Michael J Faux: he guy who decided that Die Antwoord are viable movie stars isn't the man to tackle it.

Oh god Chappy was an abomination unto the Lord.

Is that his solution to only making one good film? Make it again?

Handsome B. Wonderful: Is that his solution to only making one good film? Make it again?

With a decade passing, you'd have to, unless you are fine making an expensive fan film that will have new people confused.

/looking forward to the Elon Musk analogy
//looking more forward to the internet rage if it actually happens
///odds on favorite someone leaks that part of the script and Musk goes on a 3 month twitter ragestorm

I remember finally watching this and thinking "This guy? In an action movie???"

/had already seen A-Team and didn't make the connection

And just think, in another 20 years or so the sequels to Avatar will be released.
And they've been in production for at least 5 years but probably closer to 10.

In just 20 years!  I'll be able to watch it in my fusion powered flying car as we cruise to the moon launch facility for a weekend getaway.

... why would a sequel to District 9 be called District 10?  The camps aren't, like... sequential in any manner.  And the only characters that a sequel could conceivably follow are off-planet (aka not in any district) and still stuck permanently in D9 respectively.

This is some "Now You See Me 2" level title failure, which doesn't seem to bode well for this being an exception to Blomkamp's losing streak where he makes a comeback with a movie with coherent plots/themes and well-cast actors.

// With all love for the guy, his career seems like the movie equivalent of some poor schmuck stuck writing advertising jingles for a living for three decades, during which he slowly writes one really good novel, then when publishing it and quitting his job immediately finds that you don't get to put thirty years of work into every other novel.  A sort of visual Patrick Rothfuss, as it were.

It was explicitly stated in the movie that the aliens were being moved to a new camp called District 10.

I can't wait for District 8, the gender swapped reboot starring Sandra Bullock and FyJy.

Fun thought experiment, swap the aliens from Avatar and District 9 but imagine the movies otherwise running the same way.

Should have came out in 2012 when it correlated with the ending and it's "I'll be back in three years" bit.

Marcos P: Awesome flick. And the star was in Hardcore Henry.

That dude is in all kinds of strange stuff.   Chappie was a farking embarasment for everyone involved, including the audience.   I forgive him though, as Hardcore Henry is easily among the greatest movies of all time.

/ Loved D9

Caught D9 Friday night after GenCon.

Bunch of wotc staff decided to go see the movie.

Movie ended and half of us were "holy shiat that was incredible"

/I was one of them
//still appreciate the film for its time. Excellent still.
