Any chance we can have it snuck into Bud Light, Skoal and Cracker Barrel biscuit gravy and solve our herd immunity problem?

Its only "excess" because half the nation is too GD stubborn to get vaccinated.

"We're drowning in this stuff," said Robert Ator, a retired colonel in the Arkansas Air National Guard who is leading that state's Covid-19 vaccine distribution drive.

I think I see why.

Nope. The US has far more vaccine that it will ever use.

Drowning?

As in water?

Make the vaccine a requirement to receive that sweet sweet welfare money. Or as the 'rurals' call it, subsides.

They're cool with drug tests for the 'urbans', so let's to vaccine requirements for the 'rurals'. Seems fair to me.

/It's absolutely not fair, but the spinning their heads will do will power my laptop full of maga tear porn

"We're drowning in this stuff,"

As opposed to the morons refusing to get their shots, or the people in other parts of the world who can't get the vaccine who are drowning in the fluid sin their lungs thanks to complications from COVID.

I'd be actually pleased with a pharmaceutical company if they refused to sell any more to a country letting this go to waste and moved it to a region with shortages.

Load it into tranq guns and go for a drive through the South.

Same reason why Amazon trashes a big chunk of their returns. Sending out a lot of items from a central shipping point to 100 pharmacies across a state is easier than getting 100 pharmacies to find dry ice and send the box back to you.

I saw a huge convoy of trucks this morning heading for the southern border. I bet they had most of our stock of vaccines. Hillary, Obama, and Biden would rather give away our vaccines instead of letting hard-working Americans have them

Then they should put it in drones because we don't appear to have a legal issues internationally when they fire off anything internationally, or if we do we aren't as worried about liability

The US government needs to speed up testing of vaccine deployment options.
Here they are testing a rapid deployment method of Moderna on a typical American target.

The Federal government has plenty and is pushing it to other countries. This is about those distributed within states.

Based on TFA states have recieved 56 million more doses than reported as used.  Even if those were all available (and a good chunk likely was wastage for various reasons), there are far more than 28 million Americans who should be vaccinated but refuse to.

Yep, give it away instead of offer an incentive to your hillbilly rubes to get vaccinated. Makes sense.

Smart play, as soon as some is shipped elsewhere the GOP will point to that as the reason that people here aren't vaccinated.

Well these were already bought a long time ago when every wealthy government bought more than they could ever need so that if there were any issues (like one vaccine shiat the bed) there would be plenty. Any new purchases from developed countries now are going to be earmarked for poorer places (and the Federal government is sending millions of doses overseas).

The problem with these ones are you would have something like 30 million doses coming from 100,000 sources that you need to track and verify and ensure protocols were followed. That would be an administrative nightmare. And due to storage requirements just shipping the doses overseas isn't a simple task and the US government would bear the risk if they let others do it.

I've been saying for awhile:  Just rename it the goddam Trump Vaccine and be done with it.

2021-07-20 4:59:55 PM
If the unvaccinated yokels won't use it, then let the rest of us call dibs on future shots. I'll gladly get booster shots every 12 months, 6 months, every farking week if need be. I don't have any desire to live a long life, but I'll be damned if I'm going to die of a disease that has become almost completely preventable thanks to science and government assistance.

Yup. Usually the poorest/more welfare you receive, the more likely antivaxx you are.

All those red states farmers getting federal money? Vaxx for your entire family or no money for your farm.

Yes, thanks for being the one sane person in this thread.

A) When the federal government ships them to states, they can guarantee chain of custody and ensure all the proper strict protocols.  They cannot guarantee that the other way.

B) Getting all of those doses back and then re-shipped overseas would not be a quick process.  That would take a long time.

C) They want to ensure states have an ample supply in case of boosters.  You don't want to buy all of them back, ship them overseas, and then have a sudden need for boosters (note that the current boosters from pfizer are identical to the original doses, they haven't yet trialed any sort of tweaks) and then panic and need to ship millions more doses back to the states again.

D) Give poor nations fresh doses (Which we've been doing a LOT of).  They already don't have a lot of infrastructure to keep them from expiring, you don't want to give them doses near expiration.  That would be a recipe for failure.

E) Also, yes, going from 1 central authority, to 50 central authorities (the states) to country authorities then down to hospitals (for the cold storage few places have) and THEN to pharmacies is difficult enough... going from all those individual pharmacies backwards up to the feds would just be a nightmare.

Announce that we are setting up vaccination sites on the Mexican border and anyone who gets the vaccine is automatically granted citizenship. Offer will also apply to any undocumented immigrants already in the country.
