Badmoodman: The English Patient.

For reals.

EP

received 12 nominations  and won nine in a year with Fargo, Sling Blade, Jerry Maguire, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Secrets & Lies...almost every other serious contender was far more interesting.

Lost in Translation.

Doesn't seem to be anyone's fault, but just a completely flat and forgettable movie despite the profile of everyone in it.

Come to think of it, I feel this way about a lot of Sofia Coppola's movies.

Oh, sh*t. Both times I've tried to watch The Last Jedi all the way through I've fallen asleep. Had to actually sit down and fast forward to the middle to even be sure people weren't f*cking with me about the space Vegas subplot.

I haven't bothered attempting to watch The Rise of Skywalker based solely on how boring this one was.

About the only thing I remember about that movie was the entire opening credits being nothing but ScarJo's behind.

I tried watching Solaris (1972; Soviet version) but was so terribly bored by the car ride scene that I stuck the DVD back in the Netflix envelope and sent it back. I hope I didn't miss anything good :/

Other than Solaris, some of the films by Andrei Tarkovsky.  I've seen Memory and The Sacrifice.  They are difficult to get through.  The meaning and themes his films try to convey are very interesting, but there's no normal narrative structure.  it's like looking at modern abstract art.    I end up watching his movies in parts.

I mostly went because it was a work event and I got off early to go see it. That and the free beer.

I have good news and bad news.

Good news: Rise of Skywalker is nothing like The Last Jedi due to changing the director back to JJ Abrams, who didn't want to do anything at all with Rian Johnson's storyline.

Bad news: It's a real hot mess. Think Game of Thrones season 8: infinite budget, cheap ideas

Jake Havechek: The Thin Red Line

It's funny.  My folks rented his most recent movie: A Hidden Life.  It's about a guy who objects to serving in the German army during ww2 because of his religious beliefs.  Sounds like a decent story, right?  Oh my god... scene after endless scene of the farm fields in the alps with the main character's inner voice narration.  It was the Thin Red Line again but in Austria, and even better - with no battle scenes to cut the drudgery, so even more boring.

What's funny is the director in his wikipedia article is quoted as saying that after this film he had finally "repented and gone back to working with a much tighter script."

That movie where they go try and fix the sun or something. After they tried to fight the fire by giving it more oxygen, my brain literally said that it was done and shut off so hard that I slept for a full 8-hours.

Yanno what movie gets extra points for being horribly boring?

F*cking Noah.

They decided "man builds huge f*cking boat because world destroying flood was coming" wasn't going to be exciting enough and added in as much Hollywood as they could:

Pineapple Express; maybe it's me - is it supposed to be watched when high..? 'cos I've never done any drugs... - but it was just periods of boredom interrupted by moments of cringe; I watched half of it, paused it...

...and resumed watching it literally a year later, just so it wouldn't be listed as "unwatched" in my library

Orgy of the Dead by Ed Wood. Proving that the only thing more boring than sexploitation or pornography is boring low budget nudity and no action.

Ed Wood also acted in one of the most boring pornographic movies of all time but nobody has time for that.
