If it wasn't for the fact that I have a much more extensive professional network on there than I do on LinkedIn, I'd dump it in a millisecond.

Anti vaxxers are all either grifting, it being grifted. Does anyone know what the grift is.

I assume it's some kind of wellness supplements?

We don't care what kind of divisive bullsh*t it is, but if we can tap into idjits refreshing their page views all day long, that's what we're gonna roll with. Only so many Grandmas checking out their grandkids' school pictures or jocks looking up the shy girl who smiled at him in 11th grade English. We need REAL dedication here. I take pride in my generous use of the block and ignore functions on social media. My circle of people I care about are not-sh**heads. I have a deeper connection of friendship with a rando I met through a Discord channel than I do with some cousins I grew up with.

As a bonus, all of the people I do care about are vaccinated, and only a couple got sick with covid. 100%. I didn't intentionally build it that way, but the pandemic definitely reinforced my decision to curate.

My curation began in mid 2016. Then I had almost 4 years thinking it was good.

I had to do a deep cleaning throughout 2020.

But when I got my new phone in Sept 2020, I opted to not install the FB app. Just messenger to chat with people. Night and day difference in my life.

I still use the mobile web interface for one specific career related group, because that's where the like minded people for this career hangout.

THIS.

My son and I both deleted our accounts the moment the cambridge analytica scandal broke and neither of us have even noticed honestly. We weren't that into it from the beginning, and rarely used it anyway, so leaving was a no brainer.

I get really weird looks too when people ask if ive seen this or that on FB, and I tell them "Sorry but I don't FB."  You'd think "I" was the one with a pointy head, when all I see are the very fine tuned points on theirs LOL.

I don't remember the name of the documentary.  I saw it either last year or the one before...  What they essentially detailed is how social media channels stories to people based on what they are liable to respond to.  And by that they mean, open up, view ad impressions, and possibly click the ad.

That is their entire business model.  It doesn't make ANY difference what the quality or correctness of stories is.  That doesn't even enter into the algorithm.  All that matter is that it's a story with which a person will engage.

This is how it began that all of the dumbest most click-baity, alt-right, conspiracy theory, anti science, got to be so mainstream.

Me, "I see a problem,"
Asshole, "nope, no problem!"

Me, "OKAY YOU INVALIDATING ASSHOLE. NOW YOU JUST CREATED MORE PROBLEMS FOR YOURSELF"

Dismissing problems IS A PROBLEM!
Everything that makes the invalidating asshole feel secure and confident to be a dismissive asshole is now prioritized on the menu to strip away. The opportunity to fix the problem was presented AND REJECTED.

I'm a sweet person and I do mental health peer support. But I have the power to invert how I apply support in response to other's inverting it.

Invalidating is an act of hostility because it enshrined the problems and protects them from mitigation.

The reasonable interpretation of "no u" is to precieve as a declaration of war. It is a hostile action.

Scapegoat comes from the Bible. A goat would be banished to the wilderness after a Jewish priest placed all of the sins of the people upon it.

But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord to be used for making atonement by sending it into the wilderness as a scapegoat.

Funny there's no link between teen suicide and Facebook.  There couldn't be.

So I'm waiting for the horror movie:  Kid commits suicide when voice comes out of Facebook app telling him to.

Facebook will have a score board, for countries and number of successes, and near successes.  The board will also show number of politians compromised by threats of getting their kids to snuff it.

It will be a comedy horror movie.
